The OaO NFL Draft 2005 Thread

To even suggest the possibility out loud is ludicrous. That's what everyone's saying. Well it makes no sense to me! According to him and his agent what every NFL team is saying to him is "You're a great player but a medical liability." That's just absurd though b/c of the fact Frank Gore got drafted and there are people that are bigger liabilities than him out there. Not to mention there's people that he's much more talented than going before him. Frank Gore is an infinitely more talented RB than White was a QB. When you have a lot of talent, an injury will be overlooked (see McGahee, Willis) -=Mike How is White not a talented QB? His numbers don't lie. The fact that he was a running QB that couldn't throw for shit and reinvented himself after his knee injuries speaks load about his talent and determination.

Well that's not what he's being told. He's being told that he's a medical liability.

I never said it is a vendetta. I asked IF it was. They said on the radio today it almost seemed like he was blackballed. Nobody has said he is being or it IS a vendetta. Read it again before you jump on me. And about defending OU over all else. Let me just say this. I'm being put on a story next semester.....some rumblings have been coming about and my new editor thinks that it may be true but we're going to wait till football season to actually dig. I can't say what(though you can probably all guess) but if I reveal it then it will DESTROY the football program and I have no problem doing that if it advances my career. That simple. Anyways even if White doesn't make it I'm still happy the NFL guys and ESPN guys are all creaming their pants over Mark Clayton. He deserves it.

See well it doesn't even look like he's going to get that shot. It's almost as if he's being blackballed by the NFL. I mean is it a vendetta over not deserving the Heisman or the 2 national title games? What is it? Because as pointed out there are guys with worse problems and less talent than White that were given a chance. I mean the fucking Dallas Cowboys only have 3 QB's and they all suck. What would it hurt to see how he does? Give him a try out. I'm almost positive you don't have to pay him much. However he has said that if he does not get a free agent contract he will come back to coach at OU.

Here's a good column by a guy I work with. It makes sense if you look at it in a rational context and not an "OMG they lost the last two games I hate that state" context.

That's what I was meaning. Not sustained success. Anyways it appears that the ESPN guys really really like the Ravens pick of Mark Clayton. I mean I knew he was awesome but I didn't think anyone else knew he was awesome. I wish White had another year so we could actually see if it was him or Clayton. But I'm glad they're giving him his props. The only time he was slowed down in college is under double coverage. Local TV says White has fielded several free agent offers from NFL teams and is expected to sign an NFL contract by Thursday. Will Peoples the undrafted reciever from OU is signing with the Bills.

He's played other good defenses and done just fine. He played alright against USC. OU's defense lost that game(i mean they gave up 55 points). Against LSU his line couldn't protect him. He would've done fine if he wasn't on his back 13 times in that game. Then again people have come from the arena league to the NFL(Warner) and been a moderate success. I think maybe if he could get that pro style experience in the arena league he could do well coming over. Then again I don't care if he becomes a career arena QB. I like arena football. I don't have a favorite team though. I'd start rooting for the team he plays for and I mean if he made a decent career I'd just be happy he's playing football for a living. Even if it isn't NFL.

Yeah but Leinart will go #1.....maybe USC-QB's are immune from the curse?

We had Steve Zabel come visit our Sport History class today. He played at OU in the 60's and in the NFL from 70-79 and he said to the entire class "It's absolute horse shit that Jason White didn't get drafted." That was kind of a funny line. Anyways everyone I've talked to related to sports is certain that he's going to get signed. Hell this guy on the radio thinks he's going to turn into an NFL Europe to the NFL type guy.

Anyone here ever tried a diet?

Shouldn't you be cutting salad dressing out completely? You ever eaten a salad with no dressing? I'm sorry I can't do it. Tastes like well nothing......and I don't like the texture of the lettuce. But the dressing makes it better. Maybe fat free ranch instead?

I just took a Stacker2 pill. NEVER DO IT. My body is not used to this caffeine and it's made me so fucking sick to my stomach and so light headed.

Yeah, Thomas Jones was a 1400 yard total yardage back, and Anthony Thomas is still a solid backup. They should have traded down for multiple picks, because a quarterback doesn't even make sense for them with Grossman looking to be a solid pro They could have used some beefing up of that awful, AWFUL offensive line. Or hey, how about MIKE WILLIAMS? Still, they're a running team still trying to put an offense together. I can't complain too much, but would have rather seen them go WR. Hey they have Mark Bradley now. Dude is fast as hell. This is another thing I don't understand about White. I'm hearing now that if he had come out after his Heisman season he would've been drafted in the 6th or 7th round. What I don't get is that he had an absolutely horrible game against LSU. The offense let OU down majorly in that game. Yes he made some bad decisions against USC but overall his game was decent. The defense is what let OU down. And he had a better campaign ovrall than he did the Heisman year. So why did it all change this year? It's mind boggling.

    This Week In Baseball

Gerald Willams: former Yankee. Wasn't that the one where he charged Pedro and the whole Sox infield tackled his ass and pounded him before the Devil Rays could get there? What I wanted to see when Ortiz was all hot at the picther was for him to grab the catcher that was restraining him and be like "David no like little man touching me!" and then toss his ass on the ground. I want to see a game end at least once this season with both teams getting thrown out.

Jake Delhomme... Just keep thinking about Jake Delhomme and how he did. There is hope for your boy. Yes there is hope. But I mean.......I don't think anyone will even give him a chance. I still say he'll do great if he gets a chance. Then again a lot of GM's and Coaches think that he was only good b/c of the system and Mark Clayton.

That and another thread he started in HD sometime before that are two of my favourite threads in the history of my tsm-ness. Just great, great comedy. I can understand the GTA walkthrough mistake.....I mean you never know when some religous nut will do something like that! Remember Chict Tracks? Ok......maybe he doesn't know sarcasm.

    The Grambling State Band

So last night I went to see the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz. It's an AFL2 team owned by Barry Switzer(yeah i hate the name too). Anyways they had the Grambling State band there to play before the game, after the game, and at halftime. I'd never seen this band and my god they were awesome. Has anyone ever seen them live? It's probably one of the coolest performances and the best college bands I've ever seen. How long have they been doing that?

Anyone here ever tried a diet?

I just had one of those days we all have on a diet where you think it's going good and then BOOM! you fall apart. So I start out my day by waking up to go to work. I have this curl bar in my room with only about 40 pounds on it. Nothing big. So I do some curls with it. Not many. Like 20. Then I do some jumping jacks and jog in place for a bit before getting dressed and heading to work. So I get to work and the library is 5 stories. To make my rounds I usually take the elevator to the top. This time I ran up all 5 flights of stairs. I did this 3 times that day(once to turn on the lights and twice for rounds). Well then I went to lunch and got a salad from Sonic. Well they didn't give me my ranch the bastards. So I ran to the Student Union to buy ranch from the fast food place in there. That's about 300 yards away so I ran all the way over there. I then turned around and ran back. Then this is where it went down hill. I called Sonic and complained and they said I could have 2 free drinks. Well I get there and I'm like "hey i'll take a cherry DP. I think I deserve it." From now on I deserve nothing! They brought me 2 of them and I drank one and the other is sitting in my freezer. I'm debating if I should drink it or not. Then for dinner I had a chili cheese burger with potato chips.....dipped in chili! Oh my god. I ate that like 4 hours ago and I'm still feeling it. Anyways I was looking all trim earlier today but I don't know what this dinner and the DP will do to me.

    The Grambling State Band

They kept saying Grambling was the best in the country. Don't people go to the football games and leave at halftime after they see the band? I know at OU games they'd be like "now stick around for a special concert by the Pride of Oklahoma!" and everyone would be like "fuck this" and leave. But I imagine at these southern schools an ass doesn't leave the seats.

Well he does have deadly deep ball accuracy. Hell the dude did come unglued in the national title games. But the other games which were big games(i'm talking about A&M and OSU here) against hostile crowds he was on fire. I think he can improve enough. But yeah I mean I'd love to see him get his due as a football player somewhere. I mean that's what he is and he's damn good at it and he meant so much to this school. I don't want him to end up pouring concrete for his dads company. I don't know if I could bear seeing Jason White pouring my new porch.

Also I guess I don't really mind him not going to the NFL. I mean I would like him to have a shot. But I mean he's meant a lot to this team and to the fans. I know he's not going to make it in the NFL unless he just like turned into a freak. It's just a sentimental thing. I hope he comes back and coaches though if he doesn't.

The whole team didn't look good against USC. Adrian Peterson looked like a loser but people still think he's awesome and Mark Clayton couldn't catch shit and they still think he's awesome. You can't go off that game b/c they were all dominated. Oh well I'm just happy that 10 Sooners were drafted. I think that Mark Clayton and Brodney Poole will be the stars from this group though. Mark Bradley will be solid as well and so will most of the others. I don't know about being superstars. But I mean I think those two will be.

The OaO NFL Draft 2005 Thread

I dunno. The dude is deadly accurate. He can throw a 70 yard pass right on the dot when he wants. I think he can make a good back up. He's not completely immobile. He's about as mobile as Manning. He was told a lot by OU's coaching staff not to scramble b/c they were afraid that he would hurt his knees again. Which was bullshit. He used to be an option QB so he knows how to scramble. He can't physically do it as fast but I think he can escape the sack and get the pass off if he really needs to. Maybe he can pull a Steve Young and ride the bench behind someone good and make a decent career. I just want the dude to start at least once in the NFL. He deserves it.
