OSU is currently losing to Nebraska so it looks like nobody is going to run away with the Big XII. When did the Big XII become the "We're all going to beat the hell out of one another!" conference?

Not to mention they wouldn't be worth shit in football if they had joined the Big XII. Although I don't think Houston would make the bottom of the Big XII as bad as Baylor is. I think Baylor in both sports brings the Big XII down farther. B/c the bottom of other big b-ball and football conferences aren't as bad on the very bottom as the Big XII is with Baylor. Well maybe Vanderbilt and a couple of other crappy teams but I think Baylor is the worst of the worst on big conference bottom.

I assume you're referring to the movie Eight Men Out. A fine fim, but remember it would contain exaggerations. I do think the sports figures were villified to an extent. Joe Jackson was eligible for election to the Hall, and he received just two votes until he was officially declared ineligible after the Rose scandal. The courtroom likely cheered, but the jury certainly did not carry them out. Ok I haven't seen the movie. But this is just what I hear. Obviously from a source that had seen the movie. But were they villified as they would have been these days? B/c if someone fixed the World Series today we know there'd be hell in a hand basket.

Well you can't see it in the fight film b/c the camera was focused on the ring. But Roger Kahn said that when he first visited Dempsey at his restraunt Dempsey took him over to the photo and pointed out the 3 reporters that pushed him in. Then he said he probably would've lost if it wasn't for them. And yeah I wonder how many fights Dempsey would've won if they had the neutral corner rule the entire time he was fighting? I mean I know that he was a great boxer and hard hitter and a really aggressive fighter but part of his style was to stand over you and as soon as your knees left the canvas he began pounding again. A lot of his opponents had no chance to get their bearings. And you're damn right it was a wild fight. I've seen the whole fight film and it was like 13 rounds of action packed into a couple. Firpo was a monster and if it was anybody aside from Dempsey they would've been out long ago with the pounding he was dishing out. Back to the Black Sox though. When they were acquited of all charges didn't the court room erupt into thunderous cheers? And then didn't the jury carry them out? Just shows you how in love with there sports stars they were at that time. Can you imagine Kobe being cheered and carried out of the court room?

I have no clue. Maybe OU. They were right there in 88 and they had beaten Kansas 3 times in the regular season and then Kansas just whalloped them in the National Title game. Sampson has always put together good teams that make Elite 8-Final Four runs but never finish. I dunno about best program to never win it but they're a good program that hasn't gotten it yet.

Is that when he first got the belt? I remember that.....ugh....isn't that also where he should've jobbed it to Booker at WM but ended up not jobbing until way into the summer against Goldberg? I've been out of wrestling for so long that my memory is fuzzy and the last few years are a blur.

I seem to remember everyone was going on about what was wrong with the Sox and these two were up in the press box just circled some names on a score card looked at one another and nodded. I thought that was some pretty cool intuition.

I still think Kansas will go deep. I worry about OSU's chances b/c OSU has the talent to beat them but honestly Kansas won't lose a 4th straight and not at home. On top of that OSU can get Kansas on a neutral court in the conference tourney and probably beat them up. I think that if anyone from the Big XII gets a #1 seed(which one of them will) it should be the Cowboys. Kansas gets a #2 and OU gets a 4 or 5 probably 5. OU has another puzzling loss and that's the loss to Mizzou. I mean Mizzou ain't shit. But I mean the others I guess are ok. Texas Tech is getting hot. OSU at home is no shame. ISU is hot. Duke is top 10 and Washington is top 25. Oh and I think OU will win all of there remaining games except the one at Tech. Hell they might win that one. But I mean they can take Baylor at home. It'd be hard to win in Austin but Texas isn't that great and OU can do it. So that'd make them either 22-7 or 23-6 heading and either 3 or 4 in the Big XII heading into the conference tourney. I think they'll be just fine.

Dempsey still got to his feet in time. It was hardly a disgraceful moment, particularly since Firpo didn't seem to think it was an outrage. Controversial maybe, but certainly not disgraceful. Well Firpo and Dempsey were of the same mold. Neither man complained. Dempsey could've bitched forever after the fight second fight with Tunney but he just congratulated him. If an injustice was done to either then they wouldn't complain. Though I do seem to remember Firpo saying something about it back in Argentina. He was also complaining that Dempsey was landing blows below his waist. Even if he would've made it to his feet he was assisted. And according to the rules he should've been DQ'd if he was helped to his feet. Plus he doesn't even remember going through the ropes or any of the rest of the fight. Before the next round began he asked Kearns "What round was I knocked out in?" So I'm not so sure he would've been able to make it up and get in the ring.

Aside from Fan-Man and the ear incident are there any boxing disgraces? I'll take you way back. How about Firpo knocking Dempsey out of the ring only to have the sports writers push Dempsey back in and the ref totally ignore it? I mean come on.....the media just saved the guys title.

One half does not a game make, as the Jayhawks are showing right now. If nothing else, this team has plenty of heart. Two halves made as OU strung together 2 great halves and dealt Kansas their third straight loss! YES! I don't understand this OU team. They lose to some bad teams but then seem to be able to take the great ones. They got killed for a good portion of the second half. They hung on late, but that was NOT a good half of basketball. It was enough to beat the Jayhawks and that's damn good for me. Beating the #7 team in the country is a nice feather in our cap.

Kansas is down 37-22 at the half in Norman! This could be the Jayhawks first 3 game losing streak in 11 years. Man this Kansas team has fallen apart. How many teams does The Big XII get in? Kansas, OSU, OU, Tech, Texas, and maybe ISU?

It's not worse the FSU but by your logic of "GT is great and going to the Final Four" then it is worse than losing to GT.

That's the main reason I never play MMORPG's is the money. THe other reason is that I can't get into them to play them long enough. I can play maybe 2 hours a day. And within a day everyone that I had befriended and joined a group with are way higher levels. That and I hate running around repeteadely to get stupid shit for stupid errand boys quests. I have a friend who's girlfriend lives with him and they only have one computer and they fight over Worlds of Warcraft. It's kind of funny b/c like he'll go to the bathroom and come back and she's sitting there logging him out and logging on. Also he's actually lost weight(he was already fairly skinny) since he started playing. He works an overnight warehouse job that requires manual labor and then he never eats when playing the game.

I'd also switch OSU and Wake on those rankings. OSU is way better than that. I think they may end up with a #1 seed instead of the one everyone expected Kansas to get because I think they're going to go ahead and win the Big XII regular season and tournament. And outright winning the 3rd best conference definitely deserves a #1 seed.

I saw this thing on Sports Center that said Steve Nash has scored the most points without dunking but.....can Nash even dunk? Has anyone seen him get himself up there? Oh and this local radio guy hates AI. He says he's a thug that hangs out with rappers and gangsters and he's just a street thug. Is AI really like that? I know he had that commercial saying he wasn't a gangster or thug or anything.

What a win for ISU. BUT WHAT A FINISH IN MANHATTAN! OH MY GOD! Both teams are tied at 67. OU has fought back from a 16 point 2nd half deficit. The in-bounds pass is thrown RIGHT TO a KSU defender who goes to lay it in and MISSES! But he's fouled! He hits 1 out of 2 free throws and gives KSU a 1 point lead. Drew Lavender who's starting job was yanked and came off the bench to score 27 points takes it the length of the court and takes his 5'7" body(i've stood side by side with him before and he's closer to 5'5") in between several KSU defenders and lays it up as time expires. It rolls on the rim and Bookout and Gray jump up to tip it in with no time left! If they touched it the basket isn't good! OU runs off the court thinking they won. They're called back out on the court by the officials and it's reviewed and GRAY AND BOOKOUT NEVER TOUCHED IT! WHAT A FINISH! I was nervous watching them all huddled around the monitor and then Sampson went nuts and ran off the court in excitement and they gave OU the game. It was awesome seeing them run off the court right after the shot like they'd just stolen something! YES! Wow I'm exhausted. OU basketball has never made me feel like this before.

And Kansas fights back to send it into OT! Oh man. You may hate them but god damn they are giving us some good games.

No that game is at Kansas. ISU is becoming a force out of nowhere! They've won like 7 straight haven't they and now they're about to pick up a huge win at Kansas? Man where did these guys come from!?

OU is losing at KSU. I think OU is proving lately an inability to do anything productive on the road. I see a 32 team round exit in the tourney. Also Kansas is losing at ISU. I think the road in the Big XII is just to difficult.

I think it's funny how everyone else that posts on a message board or plays an online game is either an overweight 30 year old that is a virgin or a 12 year old in their parents basement except the person making the post. He's the only one that's a hardcore studly ladies man. I think these days it's time to realize the internet has evolved from something that only dateless geeks frequent to something everyone does. I say an obsession with a online game does constitute loserdom though. I am sorry, but anyone that has felt the wonders of pussy is not going to spend 17 hours a day playing some online game and taking it way to seriously. when your human interaction consist of people you play the game with online, I say there is something wrong with you. And with these post, I am starting to get more and more to the core of your problems Dama. Well I hate online games. I'm a tight wad and I just can't in good concious put out 12 bucks a month to play a game when I can just play something on X-Box for free. Besides people on online games piss me off. I played one once! I played FF XI. I sat down one night and played for 2 hours. I was like level 2 by the end of the night. I went bowling with my buddies that night and the next morning I went to play the game and all the people in my adventuring group that were the same level as me the night before were all like 10 levels higher than me and were like "Sorry dude you can't adventure with us. You're too low level. Haha. *snort* Loser." And I was kind of like "Ok....." and went about playing for another hour before doing something else. Meanwhile I don't think these guys ever logged out. So I can understand when you're talking about playing for 17 hours straight. that's absurd. But when you play for like 2 hours a day then there isn't anything wrong with you.
