I'm glad they switched to Wisconsin vs. Ohio State. Somehow a USC fan worked his way into the broadcast booth and was doing color commentary. They need to watch that better, on-air personalities are supposed to be impartial. They shouldn't let fans get ahold of the headset. Good day for my Sooners. Glad they were able to go out and roll Baylor. The Red River Shootout has me very very worried though. Nobody is talking about Texas but they've looked really good in all of their games. I expect Bradford and McCoy to put on a show.

Damn, I'm sorry I missed that. The announcer on ABC had to declare "USC is back!" after they went up 27-10 on Oregon. I wonder if Mike Goldberg has a new job? Because he always declares a fighter is back when they lose one fight and then win the next. I was unaware USC went anywhere, and I guess beating Oregon means they're back as #1? Stupid announcers.

After reading 909's comments in the baseball thread it appears the Lakers should've been the NBA champs last season too. Damn those sneaky Celtics.

So I've heard some crazy ass Baylor fans claiming OU's defense will be exposed by Robert Griffin. They keep saying he's too quick and he'll just continually turn the corner on the OU D and leave them watching him. That's an odd assumption because OU's defense is probably one of the fastest in the nation (at least on the front 7) and if Jake Locker couldn't turn the corner on them then I don't see how Griffin can. Oh well, Baylor wins 2 games and suddenly their fans are going nuts.

2.89 a gallon at the station right by my house. Woot~!

Sure are a lot of people high on the Lakers.....it makes me sick but I guess it's understandable. I still think they lose to Boston again though. IF they make it that far.

I think I want to be a barbarian or viking or something. Not sure where to go to get the necessary furs and what not. Hmmm.....maybe I should kill something.

I actually want the team to do well, but I can't with a name like Thunder, and knock-off Knicks unis. They aren't horrid, but they are doing the worst possible combination of everything to garner any sort of support outside of Oklahoma. It's like they _want_ to be the Clippers. You know, the name is now worse than the Miami Heat. I'll assume you meant to say no worse, and reply with: But the Heat name is horrible, too. And the Magic. And the Jazz. And any other name that's not a plural of something, and/or isn't even a thing. Yeah no worse, that's what I meant. I was typing too fast. The point is, those names sucked but as the years went by people either became a fan of the team or not and really began to forget any objection to the name. I'm pretty sure the same thing will happen here.

I really don't think they're that bad. People outside of OKC want this team to fail so they're going to hate it no matter what. The uniforms and the color scheme aren't bad at all. However, the logo is fucking hideous.

The road unis look like the Flint Tropics.

Seriously? The Sooners get to skip Missouri and they get both Kansas and Texas Tech at home. I know the Big XII's tougher than it has been, but I don't think there's a team in the conference whose schedule sets up better than Oklahoma's. The neutral site game with Texas is looking a little tougher than it did before the season started, but if they get through that, the Sooners should be 12-0 going into the Big XII championship. Not saying they will be, they could easily drop the Bedlam game or something, but there's not one game on that schedule that the Sooners lose if they bring their A game. The Big 12 title game is a virtual home-game for Mizzou. OU's secondary has proven to be vunerable, so Daniel could have a good day against them. And their kick-return coverage is just shit so Maclin could eat them up there. And the RRS against Texas does have me really worried.

Wow, No. 1 for the first time in 5 years. However, the schedule looks murderous down the road so I can't get too excited. Having Bradford at QB makes it much easier though. I read on ESPN's boards where they were saying OU couldn't run the ball. Excuse me? One game where they couldn't get it done against the No. 1 defense means they can't run despite the fact they ran it all over the place in their first three games? Ok.....whatever. Looking at 'Bama's schedule it looks like they may be undefeated going into their showdown with LSU. If LSU is undefeated that game will be huge.

I work at Enterprise Rent A Car. I can't believe I'm using my college education to rent cars, then again at least I make good money.

So if everything stays the same (which it won't obviously) then we're heading for a Big XII vs. SEC match. Maybe a Stoops vs. Saban rematch.

Hmmm, maybe this TCU game gives me hope for OU the rest of the season. TCU did have like the No. 1 defense in the country and I really don't think there's a Big XII team (aside from OU) that has a defense that good. OU threw up 21 easy in the first quarter and kind of coasted the rest of the way. Hmmmm......maybe we can do it this year. Ah who am I kidding. They'll lose another bowl game. At least I get to enjoy my team being #1 for the first time since 2003.

I think the ball is in Georgia's court. A win over top 10 Alabama is more impressive than No. 23 TCU. I think if Georgia makes a strong statement, or hell if they even win and it's not in like 50 OT's then they move to #1.

Wow you gotta love how up on their facts ESPN is. Kirk Herbstreit just mentioned that TCU beat OU in Norman a few years ago, apparently (according to Kirk) that was the year Bomar got kicked off the team. Hmmm.....that's funny. I seem to remember that as the year Rhett Bomar started and the year he got kicked off the team OU opened up against UAB. But who am I to argue. I wasn't at that TCU game or anything! It's not like I was sitting in the stands in 100 degree weather watching Rhett Bomar and Paul Thompson fumble around on offense and do nothing! No, I wouldn't have something like that burned into my memory!

So I'm not a Broncos fan by any stretch of the imagination. I've never cared one way or another about them (i even outright disliked them when jake the snake was the QB), but I have to say I'm kind of intrigued by them this year. I wonder how good they actually are and how much of a playoff threat they are. How good do you guys think they are?
-
So, I have a question to pose. Does everyone think we've come far along enough now that if a BYU or Boise State or Utah were to go undefeated this year we'd see them in the national title game? Let's say all the BCS teams finish with one loss (that being the only possible scenario to allow it). Then would one of those teams have a chance given Utah and Boise's strong performances in the past? Or did Hawaii getting smoked ruin that all?

So I hear the price of oil is going back up tonight.
-
Damn. I'm not a fan of the Pack or anything but any night the Cowboys lose is a good night. This does not appear to be a good night, but it was a good day because the Eagles won! Damn those Cowboys though.
-
It's always a good day when the Eagles win. I can rest easy tonight. Actually I can't, I'm worried about Brian Westbrook.
-
Hey I guess OU's game against TCU takes on more significance this weekend. Not only is it a revenge type game since TCU beat OU last time they were in Norman, but now OU gets a chance to knock off their first ranked team this season. I wouldn't say I'm worried about this game, but I'm thinking about it a lot. I thought Cincy would be the toughest non-conference test because of their defense, but TCU's D may be better.

The Things That Anger You Thread.
Damaramu replied to Man Who Sold The World's topic in General Chat
Yeah sort of. My frustration was realizing I had a degree that got me a job in an industry where everyone I met was miserable with their lives and situation and the pay wasn't worth shit. People that had made it 25 years were only making 40K. Then I had to find a job that would take someone with a degree, but not a specific degree. Now I rent cars all day, but hey it makes me good money and I can actually pay my mortage and pay for my wedding now.
