Well Bedlam is a little bit more competitive than I thought it would be but OSU is known for pulling away in the second half. God dammit watch OU win. Everytime I don't pick them they win. Everytime I do they lose!

My Sports History teacher is a member of the old guard and he was ranting and raving today about how much better Lombardi is than Bellicheck. Then he complimented me and told me he was proud of me still wearing my as he put it "Eagles get-up" in the face of defeat. It was just a jersey and hat....not really a get up.

OU goes to Stillwater tonight to get throttled. At least I'm pretty sure that's what is going to happen. At least I'm a realistic fan with the b-ball team.
-
Are the Eagles going to even try for a RB in the first round? Vernand Morency from OSU may still be around at that time but I don't think he'll be that great of a pick at all. McNabb got frustrated to often. You could see TO trying to calm him down at one point. I will say this about TO though he has the same calm demanor as Brady in terms of not being rattled. Even being injured TO still remained calm and didn't lose his swagger. He hasn't lost it with The Eagles this year has he?
-
Yeah but a lot of those throws were great plays by the Patriots D. I mean if Donovan had been facing a less competent defense he would've shredded them. But he was playing against the world champions. Not to mention he was pressured a lot and they basically rattled his cage and took his head out of the game. That's more The Patriots than him though.

Ok well it's just 2005. What happens if The Eagles go nuts and win a couple or 3 Super Bowls before 2011? Or if some other team gets hot and comes out of nowhere(didn't the pats just pop up out of nowhere)? Then who would be the team of the 00's?
-
Donovan McNabb has been getting better every year. Unfortunately he is the man the Eagles look to to make everything happen. He was able to do it against the mediocre Vikings and the good Falcons but against a world champion team you can't expect that man to do it all himself. He needs someone in the backfield to take the load off. Now you can credit the Pats for taking away that run game b/c Westbrook isn't that bad of a runner and Dorsey can make some things happen up the middle. But they didn't have an awesome blow you away RB to make plays. Westbrook is better as a reciever than a pure RB. So McNabb yeah he did screw up but not as bad as you're making it out to be b/c he was forced to carry that offense. What RB's will be available when Philly goes to draft?
-
Everyone hated the Cowboys I think b/c the players seemed irritating and annoying on that team. Plus Jimmy Johnson was a dick.

Well 2GOLD I guess that's understandable. I guess I latched onto the Celtics for tradition. Now it's kind of fun grinding it out every night going "Did they win? Will they find a groove?" Hey if The Bulls can do it so can the Celtics......
-
Oh come on the Black Knight in Family Guy's Pilot was hilarious. "Hey Lois how's the moat?"

That's what I always wondered about when you just start watching a sport hardcore. Most people who just pick up a sport are going to go for the good teams. Unless they're crazy. "Hey I know nothing about this sport and don't know who to root for. Hey they're losing...they rock!" But then again I guess not. I didn't start watching basketball hardcore until last year. Before that I was just like "Eh......basketball. Hey I'll watch this game. Yay that team won....." but then last year I started getting hardcore into it and attached to the Celtics. But they don't win and I can't explain why I attached to them so I guess you don't always have to attach to a winning team. But for the most part most people will if they don't already have a major team in their market. Which if I was following who everyone in my market liked I'd have to be a hardcore Cowboys fan....ugh......

::cue 2-3 pages of 'You're not a real fan/Yes I am discussion:: ::cue everyone to not be petty and not worry about it and just keep posting:: But wait strummer. What if those championships are part of a great team tradition? Then you should be able to brag about them when talking about your teams overall tradition. Also if you're bragging about an NFL teams tradition to championships from before the Super Bowl era count in that tradition?

1960 was their last title, in the pre-Super Bowl era, so yeah we've had plenty to bitch about in the last nearly 40 years... Well I've only been a fan of the team for well.....let's see I started in 92 but quit watching football b/c of the crowd I fell into around 96. Then came back in 2003 so I guess that would only make me a fan of the team for 6 years but I'm not ever going to change allegiances unless Donovan McNabb rapes my mom or something and even then if he had a good reason I'd forgive him. So yeah....I'll bitch.
-
Well they won an NFL championship if that counts as a title for the team......
-
There's something Bill Simmons calls the "5 year grace period", which means that when your team wins a title, you are pretty much not allowed to bitch for another 5 years about your team. Which means that after 2005, you can rightfully bitch about Oklahoma again. Think about Denver fans, they can finally bitch this coming season about Shanahan-Plummer... Well unless our new group of kids next year turn out to be monsters then I can rightfully bitch after next season. But there should be a clause in it that says if your team continually makes it back and fails you can bitch. Because that is like a huge tease. The 5 years grace period has been off for a long time for The Celtics and Eagles though. *bitches more*

In 1985 when I was 1 year old and 2000......so yeah......but losing two straight and getting drummed in the last one can make you forget that one in 2000. So all of my teams(save the celtics) are in a good position to win they just never finish!
-
Yeah well I've had to deal with: The Eagles repeated failures at the end of the year and The Celtics being completely inept every year and OU's basketball team being the most inconsistent bunch on the face of the earth every year AND OU losing two straight national title games including a completely embarassing ass whipping this year. And an embarassing ass whipping in the conference title game last year to a team that shouldn't have been able to hold our jock. So don't talk to me about pain I know it all too well. The only good sports thing that's happened to me is The Sox winning the world series. And that was just a gift from god for the fans that have been watching for 60 years. If there were just like 5 less Red Sox fans in the world they would've lost b/c god punishes me in every sport.

Did anyone else(aside from kotz who probably loved it) hate the Mustang commercial and wish they'd quit showing it? Once was enough.

I was quite depressed after the game was over, but it's starting to wear off now. New England is an extremely good team and the defending champs, it would've been much worse had they lost to a complete underdog. You're just lucky you don't live in the Philadelphia area. I think I'm going to cut myself off from local news and WIP for the next few weeks, since they're likely going to be acting like this is Pearl Harbor x 50... Yeah I just live in Oklahoma where people are still talking about the Orange Bowl. I just want to call to the radio and scream "They weren't as good as we thought! We got our asses whipped! That simple!" But that kind of loss for me seems easier to move on from b/c it's like "Well they'd have had to do A WHOLE LOT different to win that game. They just got beat up." but with the Eagles loss it's so close it's like "Well if just this one thing had gone differently......" And then you destroy yourself thinking WHAT IF? I swear one of my football teams(OU or Philly) had better win SOMETHING next year or I'm going to go nuts. I don't care if it's a meaningless bowl game I just need to end the season on a high note someday! And with Philly well it'd better be the Super Bowl.

The P-Diddy Pepsi truck was great for making fun of celebrities. The Monkey ones were all hilarious. I liked the one where he was kissing his bosses ass. When Monkeys go nuts like that are they really laughing or just yelling for no good reason?
-
realworldschampion.....how are you going to cope with the pain? I'm finding nothing to console me. I want to stand up and break something or yell or kick something or just go nuts. It's so frustrating.
-
I really enjoyed it. Then again what I like nobody else likes so I guess my opinion is kind of out there.
-
The monkey adds were funny.......especially the one with the monkey kissing his bosses ass.
-
Well they've contended for 4 years and I don't think that'll change at all unless something REALLY drastic happens in the offseason. They are far and away better than all the other teams in the NFC. I swear, football is my favorite sport but NOTHING goes my way in this sport. My teams make it to the championship game only to come crashing down. I guess I'm proud of them for making it all that way but damn sometimes I think it's more dissapointing that not making it at all. I dunno......I still love The Eagles, even if they got 2-14 next season. Still love them bastard birds.

Well I still like McNabb in Philly. And the loss doesn't all rest on his shoulders. Hell none of the losses completely rest on his shoulders. The guy will get his Super Bowl with Philly. Just wait.
