No I write more like 2 or 3 stories a week. We have a lot of writers on so we kind of have to spread things around. And I work god knows how many hours a week. Nobody keeps track b/c I'm not getting paid. But I generally just hang out in the newsroom on my free time. That's how you get the story. Hell that's how I did all the Sports Briefs the other day. I was just sitting there and my editor was like "What are you doing?" "Nothing." "Good. I have a job for you!"

Ok so I've started my internship for the Oklahoma Daily. And it's just weird......see if anyone else that has done something similar has done this. Just last semester I was having heart attacks over OU football and the players were kind of like just guys I saw on TV or on the field and weren't like real people that I saw everyday. At OU the sports stars are treated like they treat football players in that movie Friday Night Lights. They're basically revered by all and considered something really really special. And I've always had that attitude being a fan at OU. Well now that I'm writing for the paper I'm seeing these people on a daily basis, writing about their careers, and Bob Stoops is a phone call away. A month ago I didn't have ANY of this. I was just a fan. It's like a shell shock and I'm having trouble adjusting to it. Any other sports fans experience a similar shock?

A fairly decent amount. We have weekly meetings about what we want to write but I have to have an exact story idea before I can do anything. With the paid writers that have been doing it a while they just say "Hey I'm going to try to get a story out of this." and the editor is like "Ok!" But for me I have to be like "Hey I'm going to do a story on this, this, and this. Here's how I'm laying it out. Here's what I'm talking about." And then we talk about it. Basically I am given a sport. I get the story. I tell me editor, he discusses it, and I write.

So was the Polar Bear real or was it all a hallucination? I swear I'm going to be angry if there was never anything weird, just hallucinations.

But I'm not covering football yet. We're not that bad on the football front though. One of our main writers wrote a column on Monday that basically equated to "USC was better shut the fuck up and quit whining about it we still won 12 games bitches. That's all John Blake won in 3 years. You want him back? Do you? Because I can have it arranged!" Ok he didn't say anything about getting John Blake back but you get the jist of it.

That's a good idea Happy Medium. Nah I'm not going to call Bob Stoops. Since I'm an intern I don't get to cover the huge sports like football and basketball yet. I have been put on assignment as the Men's Golf writer all semester. I like Golf so that's no problem. I have also been put on assignment as the softball writer. I don't really enjoy the sport(baseball is better) but I have some friends on the team. And lastly I am on assignment as the Rugby writer. I used to play the sport and I know everybody on the team so I have all the contacts I need.

But there is no confirmation of this? This is just a rumor? Hmmm....

I would assume defense. I mean LSU had a scary defense under this guy and hwo knows what he could do for the Dolphins.

There are 4 unbeatens left. I wonder who falls first? I'm guessing Kansas b/c they've had way to many close calls. I'm just having a sinking feeling that Kansas is one of those teams that will pull out the close one so much and piss everone off b/c they'll never lose. Hell watch them win the National title in triple overtime with a free throw.

There's also the fact that he doesn't have as much accuracy as most fo the QB's I listed. The reason I say I'd rather have McNabb more is b/c not only can he run(not as good as Vick but he can run better than most) he can throw the ball 10x better than Vick. Maybe he can't throw it a country mile but he can hit his targets right on the numbers.

No he's not. Brady, McNabb, Manning, Culpepper, and Farve are all better than he is. Hell Trent Green is a better pure QB than Vick.

Well the point is everyone is acting like winnning at Lambeau was the greatest accomplishment of Vick's career when it really isn't that special anymore. The mystique of Lambeau has been drug around and killed the last couple of years. Especially this year when they let a warm weather team from Florida come into below freezing weather and win. And no I'm not going to stop because while yes he is a good QB he is billed as some Superman that is better than everyone else in the league. And that's simply not true. I'd much rather have Donovan McNabb at the helm than Michael Vick. McNabb's a better all around QB. So while yes he is good he isn't the greatest thing on the field like he's hyped to be.

Michael Vick won at Lambeau.....yeah? Well so did Dante Culpepper and Byron Leftwich. I don't see anybody hailing them as the second coming of jesus.

No.....I didn't know anything about baseball then. I've since learned about the sports and I enjoy it. So that's how I can call myself a diehard fan. B/c I root for no team over the Sox and if they were to lose the World Series this year I would've been just as upset as anyone else. And I am a diehard Eagles fan. I root for no other team over the Eagles. Yes I like the Chiefs but I don't root for them over the Eagles for fucks sake. Yeah Bored threads come grinding to a halt because jackasses like you pretty much feel the need to attack me and my opinion. If you'd just grow the fuck up we wouldn't have these problems. Now drop it. I am a diehard fan of these teams and nothing you say will change that. Long after TSM isn't here I'll still be rooting for these teams. So drop it.

Because I didn't quit watching football because of the Eagles. I quit watching football b/c I got in with a bad crowd in school. I started hanging out with the stoners and punk rockers who all hated sports. So I quit watching. Then I got away from that crowd and got back into it. I like the Chiefs. Yes I would be upset if the Eagles lost. But if they had to lose it to anyone that would be the team. But I would still root for the Eagles to beat them and I would still be heartbroken that the Eagles lost the game. Forget anything I said before this is what I mean. Quit digging old shit up(and you're really sad if you have time to go do that anyways) and just listen to me now. And another thing. Why is this such a big deal to you guys? Why do you care sooooo much?

Because I like the fucking team. And I watch the sport now and I find that I don't want to root for any other teams except the Red Sox. So therefore I am a fan. If the Red Sox record resembled that of the Diamond Backs next year I would still cheer for the Red Sox. It's that simple. These are the teams I like. And no matter how much you guys cry and say "No you're not a fan of my team! NO!" it won't change the fact I am and I'm not changing my mind.

How about those Red Sox? And yet you haven't read me saying that I still checked sox scores and still wanted them to win even when I didn't know about baseball? See I just can't fathom nothing! I just can't fathom the end of concious thought. That's what I don't like about the never ending blackness theory. Then again I don't think any human brain can actually fathom nothing completely.

No he won't. He's got an aneurysm that's about 7.5 centimeters long. It hasn't burst yet but if he does anything stressful it will and it'll kill him. But he's going to the hospital to get surgery to remove it. The problem is they don't usually operate on anything over 5 centimeters. They could either kill him, give him a stroke, damage his brain, paralyze him, or fix him completely. But there's a very small chance he'll be fixed completely. The thing that upsets me the most is that my Grandpa is the toughest guy on know and the guy I respect the most. Since I hate my father and step-father I look up to my Grandpa. The guy never complains, he always gets the job done and he's always been responsible. I've never seen him get scared of anything and for once he's scared of what's going to happen. And that scares me. I mean this is the guy that had a heart attack on the side of the road while driving a stick shift and drove himself to the hospital for treatment. I figured nothing would ever kill him.
