I can't get too pumped about the start of college football because I'll be moving on Saturday! Oh boy. I'll have to sneak a peek whenever I can. I'll be done moving in time to see my Sooners play, but it's nothing to get excited about because it appears to be a glorified scrimmage.

They said the 17 year old (Rickey Rubio?) would be going one day in the near future.

Eh, I don't like 3 of their major stars (Lebron, Kobe and Wade) but they had enough other guys I liked to get behind (Bosh, Paul, Williams, Howard and Prince) that I was able to get behind the team and root for them. They're still not the Dream Team though. I had to turn the game off at halftime though and finally pass out. I liked that guard from Spain, he's pretty good.

Man the Vikings need a passing game. Jackson and his two top receivers are held out tonight and Peterson has 12 rushes for a measely 21 yards. He'll eat that all season if they can't throw the ball.

Weird question. I have guys show up to rugby practice in the most random ass jerseys. I swear I've had guys show up in Fiji national team jerseys, Scottish national team jerseys, various Super 14 teams and so on. And it's weird because some guys have multiple jerseys that should clash. Like some guys have two opposing Super 14 teams or two different national team jerseys. I wonder if the barrier and the distance across the pond between us makes it ok to support multiple teams and wear multiple jerseys? I mean it's not like we get regular rugby on TV so we can't rabidly follow them. Like maybe there's some guy in another country that can only catch NFL clips and he's got jerseys from 10 different teams. For me personally I support individual players more, since I can only get clips and pick up on them. Like I want a France jersey and a Sale Sharks jersey because Sebastien Chabal plays for those teams. But, I also want a Hurricanes jersey because Tana Umaga used to play for them. And then it turns around that I want like every jersey from every team in the Guinness Premiership because they're just badass looking and I don't really know specific teams. I dunno, wondering how the bandwagon rules work when you can barely watch the sport you're buying jerseys for.

Yeah I've been doing a lot of sprinting rather than going for a long jog. I assume that's sort of what you're talking about. I try to sprint with a medicine ball in hand to replicate running with a ball.

Yeah, the thing is now I'm training for something. Before when I was posting in this thread, I was just trying to get in better shape. Lose some fat and gain some muscle. I did that (though not ideally, i've lost some of my gut and my arms are more defined). But, now I'm actually training for something. I've actually started playing rugby again and I actually have a position that requires certain physical attributes. My coach told me not to lose too much weight, because as he put it "JR, you're a big motherfucker and I like all that weight crashing into someone." Of course, two practices a week and a game on Saturday as well as three weight lifting sessions a week is enough to help me get in much better shape.

I think it works both. According to exrx.net it's a hamstring exercise. The problem I'm running into now is that just simply working out isn't enough anymore. I was stagnant there for a while, so just getting in the gym provided good gains. Now I'm at the point in my development where I actually have to have a plan for working out. Unfortunately, because I'm playing a sport and my body isn't paticuarly well developed, I have a lot of crap I have to do. I have to get bigger for rugby, but lose weight and I have to get stronger, and yet I have to get faster too. It's like I don't see how I can do all at once. I start thinking "Should I do a circuit workout that burns fat while building muscle? Should I do just heavy weights? Should I do supersets? Should I do a pyramid?" It's more overthinking.

It's been over a month since I've posted in here, so I think I'll bring it back up. I've been going to rugby practice and getting set for the season. I'm playing lock, which is where I want to be. But, I'm having trouble locking out in the scrum and one of the old boys told me it was my hamstrings. He said "Your quads are big and built (yay me), but you have no hamstrings." So I'm doing some exercises for my hamstrings. I know they get worked during squats and I've been doing hamstring curls. I'm going to get into deadlifts, but I'm so afraid of hurting my back. I tried some stiff legged ones today, but I honestly didn't feel any pull in my hamstrings. Maybe I'm not going down low enough. Any other good hamstring workouts you guys can recommend? I was told a lot of my explosiveness in running will come with well developed hammys too.

Yeah, but Booty hasn't really played in an NFL regular season game. And, I just knew you always disliked him as USC's QB, for reasons completely unknown to me after seeing his onfield performance.
-
Did the Bootys find a way to fuse Josh and John David? UBERBOOTY Too bad that only amounts to something equaling Kyle Orton. Except dumber. You know it's not like John David was all that bad in college. I mean yeah he didn't win a national title or anything, but they were still Top 5 with him at the helm. Sure he was loaded with talent around him, but the dude had like two straight Rose Bowls where he played really well. I mean just because he's not Carson Palmer or Matt Leinart doesn't mean he sucks. *PS* I can't believe I just defended a USC player.
-
I don't think my team is going to win the national title or anything this year (i do think we'll go back to the Fiesta Bowl and finally get over that hump though, hopefully......maybe Stoops is the new Lloyd Carr) but I sure hope we get another crack at Mizzou. We've dragged those little bastards around the field for the past two years and they're still hyped to the moon.

Ricky Williams is still playing? Looks like he did pretty well for the Dolphins tonight though.

Too many remakes...... -
So I was listening to ESPN radio talk about how exciting the basketball game was because of how into basketball the people in China are. I think it was Eric Casillas or Andy Gresh or one of them. He tried to say basketball was the most popular sport in the world and tried to say it has eclipsed soccer. Then he backtracked and said it was close to catching soccer. Then he tried to say basketball isn't even one of the top 3 most popular sports in the USA. He said "I'd say the NFL, college basketball and college football are more popular." Then he sat there and realized what he'd just said and went "Than the NBA product." But he had originally set out to try and say the sport of basketball itself wasn't as popular. I dunno, this international game reminds me more of college than the NBA right now. After witnessing it as this years Olympics what do you guys think basketballs place in the world is?

The Things That Anger You Thread.

What's even worse is when you're at a 4-way stop getting ready to turn left and you let the person directly across go. You start to go to turn and the douchebag behind them guns it and goes too right on the person you let go by's ass. I had some guy do that and I honked and he stopped beside me in the middle of the intersection and said "What the fuck is your problem?" I of course exploded, for no good reason because we both just drove off after we got done with our dick waving contest. -
I should become a blacksmith....swinging a hammer all day has got to make you strong.

So, the AD played last night but the Vikings didn't give him the ball. Yet, he was effective because all eyes on defense were on him. I wonder how long the Vikings can ride the "Fake to Peterson, throw to a wide open man" offense before defense catch on?
-
Ok is Lebron seriously talking about Europe or was it just some offhanded comment he made like "Yeah I'll play in Europe....if they gave me 50 million!" *much snickering and elbowing follows* And now ESPN is just running with it and completely overblowing it?
-
I hate it when I'm in front of the mirror lifting for proper technique (i have trouble with technique on some exercises so i watch myself in the mirror to see if i'm moving right) and some douche steps in front of me or gets partly in my way to check out his arms. Only they don't flex, they walk to the mirror and stand sideways looking at themselves.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3526410 I guess Mustain's transfer turned out to be a fortunate deal, or maybe Mustain stabbed him in the leg.

Too bad it's not Hank Scorpio. Is AD not playing in the first preseason game?

Wow, the Monday night announce crew is still as unbearable as ever. Kornheiser is not funny.

Man, OKC opens the season at home against the Bucks. I bet I can't get ahold of tickets to that though, I wish I could. Also, I wonder how the OKC fans are going to react to the Hornets? Do they cheer for them or boo them or give them the ovation before the game and then stop when the game starts?

I wanted the Eagles to draft Kelly with the pick they used on the Cal kid. Then again with OU's track record of players getting hurt nearly immediately in the NFL I probably shouldn't be hoping the Eagles draft any of them.
