Well guys it's been a fun argument. But we're all arguing over what MIGHT happen. I'm going to bed now. I'll wake up tomorrow and find out where everyone stands and we can pick this up again. We'll see where OU goes on the BCS and if USC moves up to 1 in the AP.
-
Exactly. They all lost 1 game. They're all on even footing here. OU lost 1 game. Yes but they also dominated the season like nobody else in history except for 95 Nebraska. That right there should shoot them up as deserving of the National Title game.
-
Yep And we all remember the Nebraska fiasco, too. But Nebraksa wasn't that good. Oklahoma's numbers still point to them being the best team in the nation and tonight's game being a fluke. Cause think about it. Think about the way OU has played all season. Watch tonights game. Did they play the same way they have been playing? NO. They played like a bunch of guys who thought the game was a forgone conclusion after there first touchdown. That's OU's main flaw. There ego.
-
But OU would be national champions. And that's the way it would go down. And as an OU fan..that's all that matters...the national title.
-
But THEY ARE doing it. You're saying it shouldn't happen. But it IS happening. And I'm just trying to gauge how many people are going to say "They aren't really the national champions" whenever they actually are the national champions(assuming they win). Now if LSU wins the national title game...how many people will be complaining that they aren't really the national champions? Not as many as if OU wins. The reason I get the "OU is hated on" argument is because well that's the way it seems. Everyone seems to be calling for OU's blood and wishing that they'd fail. Then they finally fail but the rest of the season keeps them solid and people explode on that. Like I said...if all they did was dominate Top 10 teams all season...there'd still be some complaint. Hell I heard complaints that they were "unsportsman like" for dominating teams.
-
I do mean it in fluke loss as in "It shouldn't have happened but OU played like they've never played before therefore they were killed" type fluke loss. If they'd played like they've been playing then it would not have happened. That is why it's a fluke loss. And now you're just getting angry because OU is going to the national championship. Wonder how big your explosion will be if they beat LSU?
-
But the point is moot because they are probably going to the national title game. And if they win it and USC loses there game then technically...they are the national champion...no if's and's or but's. You can say "They're not the real national champion!" but you'd be wrong because well...they won the national championship.
-
Yet if they go and win there claim is right there. Technically if they go to the National Title game and play like they did all year then I think they have that title cinched. If they play like they did against K-State...well like I said earlier.....LSU/USC 107-OU 0. The thing is that at this point OU has no right to "go there" so what you are saying is not plausible. Yes but OU more than likely....IS going. So therefore what I'm saying is very plausabile. OU lost won game. So did USC and LSU. OU dominated there opponents worse than LSU or USC did. OU's numbers had people talking about "best ever". I would say because of 1 fluke loss doesn't mean OU has no right to be there. OU still has a right to be there based on there dominance and seasonal numbers. Honestly though I think there are way to many Oklahoma haters. People were just waiting for them to lose so they could cry foul if they went. So if OU lost to Texas and then crushed K-State in the Conference Championship would people still be crying foul? Yes they probably would. Because OU is the devil or something and doesn't deserve shit. Everyone always has some catch to them winning. Or some catch to there winning during the season. If they'd done nothing but beat Top 10 teams all season people would still have SOMETHING to say.

I thought it wouldn't happen because after the Sooners picture perfect season I didn't think they'd allow this to happen. And I figured with such a big game in front of them they wouldn't pull there Baylor "this team is shit...let's not try" method. And then they did it. And started getting beaten. And it shook them up so bad they couldn't come back. God...I blame nobody but the Sooners. This is there fucking fault for needing 2 stadiums in Norman. 1 for the team to play...and 1 for there egos.

I think it'd be best to have OU as #2 and USC as #1. That'd be a much better game and may just shut up more complaining than OU/LSU. Ah who am I kidding...no scenario will work. This year should end right now and be erased from history. *starts petition with coaches* *bob stoops signs first* "Ahem...Jason White gets another year...."

So then...who do we the fans recognize as National Champion? Who goes down in history as the national champion? Officially? If USC wins over Michigan USC and the winner of LSU/Oklahoma. This is why the BCS was formed, to prevent these split nightmares. You could recognize Boise State if you wanted, it's not like anyone can really complain if there isn't a national champion. However these split nightmares occur. Damn the BCS....it didn't help anything. It created more controversy. So then before the BCS it was the #1 in the AP Poll and #1 in the Coaches poll? Dammit every system except a playoff is crap!
-
Well that just sucks. Dammit....my Chris Jericho OU may have to share it with that damn Chyna USC.(or the other way around if you prefer USC)

Texas and OSU. I could've sworn Bama and Missouri were ranked. Oh well guess I'm wrong on that one. The problem is there aren't that many good teams in the conference. I mean who do they have? Texas(definetly)? Nebraska(not anymore)? OSU(not very much)? OU(definetly)? and now.........K-State after proving themselves tonight. So you don't really have very many top teams in the Big XII. OU would have to do out of conference games pretty much all season to play extremely good teams.
-
How exactly do they do the split title? Remember I'm new so I'm not sure on how it works. Does everyone say "Well the National Champions were OU/LSU and USC!" or does OU/LSU run around calling themselves the National Champions while USC runs around calling themselves the National champions while they ignore the other team. Do fans only recognize which one they want as National champion?
-
Yes I don't understand the "OU played nobodies" argument. They played Missouri, they played Colorado, they played Texas, they played Alabama, and they played OSU. All good teams. And they won all of them pretty dominantly(aside from Bama).
-
I do agree he did some good stuff...but he did shit to. A lot of the time he'd just come up with an idea he thought was good because it was in a movie. Luckily somebody was always there to shut that down....well sometimes.
-
Yeah but for some reason people don't think OU belongs because of the actual game they won. Despite the rest of the season pretty much proving that this was a fluke loss.
-
Speaking of Buffy. I had the epitome of nerd arguments with a guy a while back. Who would win in a fight? Buffy or Blade? I pretty much said Blade hands down.
-
Pretty simpley a load of suck then. I'm not saying they're the best ever, but they're still better than IX's. I hate both games equally. Neither is better.
-
Yeah that's our main problem. We are to cocky for our own good. From coach to the lowliest player...we think we're hot shit that is untouchable. But you know the "Any given Sunday..." expression. Unfortuantely we think that it doesn't apply to us. Well it does. And I think after EVERY loss that OU shouldn't have had that they will learn there lesson...but they never seem to. And it's starting to drive me nuts. I'm even having the sinking feeling that they'll go into the title game "Ok we had a fluke loss. These guys are nothing compared to us! So we don't need to practice hard! And remember...don't exert to much energy out there! Don't want to injure yourselves! We'll win anyways!" *the next day* LSU 107/OU 0 I see it now. Oh well...*burns OU apparel...puts on Michigan hat and Missouri jersey* maybe it's time to root for my second and third favorite team.

That's the problem when you're the best. You're fans(and yes i was definetly VERY guilty of this) think every game is a foregone conclusion. So you start believing that it is a forgone conclusion. And you get toppled as a result proving that you aren't the best. Bah...I will still go on record as saying if OU wins the National Championship that they are the best team this year. Oh and even more dissapointing. They were #1 in EVERY poll since pre-season. And it was fucked up by this. That would've been another historical move by OU. They had a history making season. Now it'll go down in history as "What could've been...." Not only is it dissapointing...it's embarassing as a fan. But I think the embarassment and bad feelings have left now that the jackasses who were screaming "HAHA! OU SUCKS! THEY'RE OVERRATED! YOU SUCK!" have left the thread and the rational people are left. I feel like a guy about to hang himself with everyone talking me down.

yes it should of Same goes for X2: X-Men United. But that's just me. Bleh...fuck that list. X-2 was a good summer action flick. But it wasn't exactly a great piece of film history like LOTR is. True, I agree with that. Still, like X1, I think it's a film that should last a long time. Not only because of the CGness, but of the obvious underlying message about discrimination and all that. Besides, the list is for 'Top Ten Movies of 2003'...not 'great pieces of film history'. X-1 is good. But it's message is just the same as the one in the comic books. And the comic books make an even stronger message than the movie.
