Well Texas certainly looked like shi-ite in the first half. Great, that's the team that beat OU too. I can get by saying Tech and Mizzou were down in their games but I don't think Texas is. Fuck this doesn't bode well for Thursday.

It's not. But with the way they started I really got my hopes up for them to tie or beat the Bulls single season record. Of course I'd rather have another NBA title.

I guess if everyone is making predictions then I will make mine too. I hope Oklahoma wins. I would be happy if OU wins. But I expect Florida to win. I expect Florida to win by a decent double-digit margin. This team has burned me too many times in recent years to get my hopes up. I've been disappointed too many times to have it happen again. I just can't expect them to win, I can't pick them. I will root for them, but I'm not going to be crushed if (or when) they lose because I wasn't expecting it and I didn't have my hopes up. The only thing that will come out of this game to annoy me is all the talking douche-bags on ESPN trashing OU and the Big XII and blowing Florida and the SEC. That will annoy me, but Oklahoma's loss itself? Nah. I'm just not getting my hopes up for the Buffalo Bills of college football. Until they prove they can get the job done in a BCS Bowl then I will not get myself up for the game nor will I pick them to win. If I'm watching Thursday night and Florida is shredding OU's defense and making big play after big play and OU's offense looks completely lost then I will not be upset. Because it will be unfolding just as I expect it to happen and just as I've seen it happen too many times in the past.

So has anyone ever heard the Huge Show on ESPN Radio? Do your opinions actually have to make any logical sense to have a radio show these days? He was saying that what Dominique Franks said was stupid (which it was) but then he basically declared all Big 12 QBs garbage. He said Chase Daniel sucked and proved it the other night, and then said Graham Harrell wasn't any good because he got beat up by a and I'm quoting "SEC bottom-feeder in Ole' Miss". How the fuck does an SEC bottom-feeder make it to the Cotton Bowl? That's supposed to go to the No. 3 SEC team. What the fuck is he talking about? The third best team in the SEC beat the third best team in the Big XII in a 12 point game. Big f'n deal. Oh and then he threw in that Colt McCoy was going to get shut out by Ohio State. Just thought it was a series of stupid statements after another and pretty much discounted everything up to this point because Daniel and Harrell played a couple of bowl games they didn't care about. And it is true. I think Franks shouldn't be trash-talking and shouldn't say anything. But, judging from the article he only said it because reporters were prodding at him and basically telling him Big XII D's sucked. It doesn't sound like he came out and said it right off the bat or anything. And I heard that Huge Show guy say that Florida has been business like and hasn't said anything about OU. Well as was pointed on in the other thread, Spikes and Tebow have talked trash. So let's not act like Florida is a bunch of saints with their mouths shut. But, OU doesn't really have anybody on their team that strikes fear when you fire them up like Tebow does to some people. So once again, Franks should've shut up.

Where did all this love for Ohio State come from? I'm hearing a ton of people picking Ohio State. Phil Steele said "Ohio State will edge Texas, and it won't be from a lack of try by Texas." OU would actually be 2-1 against the Top 10 (they lost to Texas who was 5 at the time). It does kind of worry me how the Big XII south defenses have been lit in bowl games. Tech really wasn't motivated, but OSU sure as hell was. Then again OU put up over 60 on both those teams so maybe it was just par for the course for both of them. I'm just ready for this damn game to get here. If my team is going to lose, then I want it to hurry up and happen so I can quit thinking about it. If they're going to win, I want it to happen so I can celebrate. I'm tired of the pressure of waiting. I'm also tired of hearing "OU's never seen a defense like this!" without mentioning that Florida has never seen an offense like this. Once that game ends I don't have to hear that illogical argument anymore. (well the OU's never seen a defense like that is logical, it just leaves out another key component) Hell I'm not worried about how OU's offense will perform against the Gator D. I'm worried about OU's defense.

Arizona beat BYU, and the PAC-10 won all of their bowl games, so the PAC-10 jumps ahead of the MWC. They already declared Mt. West better during the season! No tap-backs unless you do a double hop-scotch under the 6th-graders tree! That's about as much logic as I feel ESPN uses when determining which conference is the best based off bowl games.

Hmm.....ESPN tried to use that illogical football math to say the SEC was better than the Big XII because a hyped up Ole' Miss team beat a down in the dumps Texas Tech team. So does that mean Mountain West>SEC? By god their logic was right! And if Mt. West>SEC>Big XII>Big Ten then what does that mean for college football? Because of the Mountain West having a better non-conference schedule than the Pac 10 they already declared the Mountain West better. I think using media math we just found the greatest conference in the HISTORY of college football....the Mountain West.

Well think about it. Ole' Miss was probably jacked that they were 8-4 and going to the Cotton Bowl with the chance to knock off a 1-loss Big 12 team and prove themselves. Meanwhile Texas Tech is probably down about being totally out of all national title and Big 12 title discussion so early and probably down they aren't going to a BCS bowl despite having one loss. Instead they get to play some 8-4 team. It set up PERFECTLY for Ole' Miss to have a big game. Another reason bowl games usually suck. Of course ESPN is already coming out with the "OMG SEC RULZ BIG 12 DROOLZ~!" stuff.

While I still don't think bowl games are a good indicator of how good a conference is (or really a team outside of the bigger bowls that people want to be at) I did think of something funny. The Big XII is 3-1 in bowl games with the North being 3-0 and the South being 0-1. The 3 games remaining for the South are all very lose-able (well that's a stretch considering who Texas is playing, but you never know. they might not show up). Wouldn't it be kind of funny if the "weak" North won all their bowl games while the "strong" South lost all theirs? Not that I want that to happen, but I just thought it'd be kind of funny if it did. So I quit watching the Rose Bowl. Did Musburger declare USC the greatest team ever yet? I bet they're ranked #1 next season and everyone is riding high on them........then they lose at Oregon or something. Isn't Oregon supposed to be really good next season?

Nah. I didn't really get a chance to talk to anyone at the reception anyway. The whole day was a complete blur and I felt like I was tugged in 100 different directions. It's been almost 3 weeks and it feels like it was so long ago now because it just flew by.

Well no reason to watch the usual Rose Bowl snoozer anymore. Guess that frees the rest of my night up. I didn't really plan on watching any other bowl except the national title game. So if the usual OU BCS bowl performance is turned in and they're out of it by halftime I may be done with college football for this season already. Damn, this season just flew by. You wait all summer for football to get here and then when it gets here you feel like you barely got a chance to get acquainted.

No, that's UCLA. USC plays at the Coliseum. OK, Brent suggesting the AP could vote USC #1 is a bit much. He seriously said that? I swear that guy goes crazy about whatever he's seeing on the field. I don't care who's playing, if he's watching a blowout he declares the winning team the best team in the country. He does it nearly every week.

Well according to Musburger USC should be in the national title game. Because the Pac 10 won all their bowl games and USC is obviously better than OU and Florida. Did I mention Mark Sanchez was robbed of the Heisman? That's where this commentary is leading towards at this moment. I'm sure the USC lovers in the media will use the Pac 10 being undefeated in bowl games as a reason to prop USC up and say they should've been in the national title game discussion. I don't think bowl games are a good way to judge conference strength. You have so many bowl games and a lot of average teams playing bowl games and a lot of unmotivated teams. You could get a barn-burner like Texas/USC or you could get a game like last years Cotton Bowl where Mizzou wanted to play and Arkansas didn't even want to be there. Did that mean the SEC wasn't that good because one of their teams got blown out in a bowl game? No, it had nothing to do with the SEC or the conference strength or anything else. Hell it really didn't even have to do with how good Arkansas was and it really wasn't a reflection on their season at all. Bowl games are just a fun thing to watch, and it's awesome when both teams try. But it's not a good judge of conference over conference or even a good reflection on someone's season.

I don't understand why everyone gets so excited about the Rose Bowl these days. It's always USC vs. some Big 10 team that doesn't have a chance. I know they always say "Well that's why they play the games" but fuck, you don't need to play the Rose Bowl. The score is always going to be USC a lot and slow Big 10 team not a lot. Probably the worst of the BCS bowls since the USC/Texas game.

They reverted back to form in the second half apparently. It's funny that the team from the conference with no D won a game with D. I like Pelini, so good for him.

I'm not really worried since they have to come to Norman. They've blown under Gundy in Norman.

Man that was satisfying. Hopefully all the Pokes fans around here are put back in their place. They had a little bit of success this season and talked all kinds of shit about how they were the dominant program in the state and how Gundy was all about winning while Stoops wasn't. Well, you couldn't even win the Holiday Bowl OSU! Hey OU may have lost 4 straight BCS Bowls, but at least we were able to win the freaking Holiday Bowl a few years back when we went!
