    Ah, thanks for the clarifications.

    The Old School questions thread

That's what brings me to my question. Why so much bitterness towards Vince for going national and stealing up talent? It's not like Jim Crockett wasn't doing the exact same thing, he just operated (for a time) within the confines of the NWA. I mean he brought all the talent to his promotions and had a death-grip on the NWA title. I mean I watch WWE 24/7. If you watch those studio shows all of the top regional stars (that hadn't gone to WWF) were on Crockett's TV shows! And his titles had more prestige than any other local territories titles. And he started buying up promotions to go national too! And when he started doing stuff like Starrcade, didn't that really poke a huge hole in the territory system and really mess it up for a lot of regional fans? Becuase now they see all the top stars on Starrcade and the regional feel of pro-wrestling is gone with that show too. It wasn't just the WWF that was projecting that national image and forgetting about the territory system. Right? So why does everyone these days act like Vince was such a scumbag? Crockett did it too, just within the confines of the NWA. He was still an NWA member but he had all the top talent and the NWA title. Also another question. The Television and US title that Crockett was promoting on TV with his champions, those weren't national titles were they? What I'm saying is they used to be regional titles of Crockett's promotion, but as JCP became national then so did they. Right?

    The 2009 NFL Offseason

What are you talking about... He signed a long term deal which was one of the bigger free agent signings last year. Asaunte wasn't going to accept a "1 year" deal, he was the most sought after free agent. That's what I was checking on. Thank you.

Any TSMers in the Ft. Lauderdale/Orlando area?

Well we're going to be down there for a week. I imagine eventually we'll both run out of things to do and want to find something else. That's why I made this post to find stuff to do. If someone here lives there and wants to show us around to places that are fun but outside the usual touristy area I'm sure we'll both be all for it.

Does Samuel return to Philly this year? He wasn't a one year deal like Stallworth was he?

Eh I figured OU would drop another at some point. If they win out they're probably still a No. 1 seed. They do need to beat Kansas on Monday to win the Big XII though, because I don't see KU dropping another Big XII game.

    This week in the NBA

I hope the Celtics can rebound from Garnett's knee injury. I thought they may make a big trade. Perhaps they were content with the 1 title? Perhaps they're content with 17 and want the Lakers to play catchup (even though LA has a bit to go to actually catch them)?? It certainly seems that way right now. Why can't anyone I hate every get injured? *grumble* And were the Suns really being held down that much? They've gone crazy in the last 3 games. Then again, it was against the Clippers and Thunder.

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

You know, I've been reading through the first few pages of this thread and it seems there's a lot of mention of 92 and 96. It's funny because those seem to be two of the lowest points for the WWF, but they seem to be my most fondly remembered years as a childhood fan. Weird, especially because I've loathed the product since around 04. I need 24/7 like everyone else. I had it, and then got rid of it because I moved and unfortunately got rid of it around the time all the good stuff was happening. 97 was one of my favorite years on RAW and I got rid of it just as Austin vs. Hart Foundation was taking off!

    LOST

I'm trying to remember where my wife came in actually. The first episode she watched was when the hatch exploded and Ben was revealed to be the leader of the Others and he took those prisoners. That was the season 2 finale correct? The season 1 finale was when the Others kidnapped Walt right? That's another thing, we still don't know what they did with Walt. So Season 3.....I keep drawing a blank on what happened during Season 3 and what the finale was. I think my wife missed the beginning of season 3 then started watching hardcore sometime in the middle. So yeah, she missed a ton.

    My new way of eating.

This is where the working out and losing weight thing gets confusing. You always hear two different things. Example. Tyler tells me that the WoDs probably aren't enough to lose fat and meet the goal I want. Meanwhile the CF people tell me that the WoD is ALL I need to do and I'll lose fat and get in great cardio shape. I'm being tugged in two different directions! Oh and then there's the calories thing. I was watching the Biggest Loser (yes i know, not a great representation of weight loss) and they tell people that they have to eat. "You can't lose weight by not eating. You have to eat enough calories." I hear the same thing all over the place. Yet for the past 3 weeks I've been on a calorie restrictive diet (1200-1800 a day, sometimes I splurge and go into the 2000-2800 range, but that's only like once a week) yet I'm dropping pounds like I want to. It's been 21 days and I've gone from 275 to 257! No way that's all water weight. So working out and being restrictive on calories is working for me, yet I hear tons of people say you can't do that. And then they caution that my body will start storing fat or I'll stop losing weight or that I won't recover. So far it's been 3 weeks and none of those things have happened. I keep losing weight. Yes my progress has slowed down, but it's slowed down to an actual natural pace. I'd measure that I've probably lost about 3 pounds in the last week as opposed to that crazy 6-7 pace I was at before. But, I'm not discouraged. I know that 2-3 pounds a week is good and natural. Argh, so many different directions you get pulled when you really get into this stuff.

Man they really pushed that Lebron thing hard. I felt like I was watching the World Series and all they could talk about was A-Rod.......oh wait.........

So that Blake Griffin guy is pretty good. 40 points and 23 rebounds today. 22 double-doubles on the season. I wish he'd stay another year.....but no dice.

Never heard this. Given the references in S1 to the concrete below the Swan, though, I'd say it's a given that that is where Jughead is buried. Exactly. Just because something is a slow burn and isn't revealed immediately, doesn't mean it's a plot hole. They're already giving us bits and pieces of who the original Others were - ie: Richard and his troops. Clearly Dharma arrives sometime after this and somehow takes over for their own experiments - and it's been said that they were funded in part by Widmore (which would be the reason why Dharma knows about the Island to begin with). Dharma encounters the Others/Hostiles while doing their thing. Resulting in Ben taking over, initiating the purge, and so on. All we're really missing is who exactly Richard and his friends were originally working for back in 1954 - and how they knew about or came to be on the island Wait wait. I don't think Richard and his guys were troops. I remember him talking about how the soldiers wouldn't leave so they had to kill them. I assume they took their stuff and they've been there a lot longer than when Locke came upon them.

Wait? What's the theory about the 4-toed statue? That it encased the bomb? As for time on the island. Wasn't there some sort of time discrepancy last season? Didn't the captain wash up on shore way before he was killed on the freighter? So many plot holes. Earlier it was mentioned they should explain who Richard and the Dharma were exactly, well what about all the Others?

There are a lot of unanswered questions. We still don't know really what the Dharma Initiative was all about. I love the attention to detail, but I feel like I'm watching it alone when I watch it with my wife. The first episode she ever saw was when the hatch exploded and Penny found out about the island. So she missed two seasons worth of stuff. So I try to explain to her why some things are important and I just get blank stares. Really need some DVDs or something. This show is crazy. There's just way too much going on to keep up with. There's probably unanswered questions from season 1 that are still floating out there that people may have forgotten about. Rosseau kept talking about a sickness, and didn't the guy who Desmond first ran into on the island say something about the island being infected? And when are we finally going to see Jacob!? And what makes Christian Shepard so damn special!? Argh. And what about the 3-toed statue!? Oh, didn't Ben have a friend named Charlotte when he was a little boy?

Lebron doesn't get star treatment? Wha!? The guy gets a foul called if anyone even breathes on him while he drives to the basket.

    My new way of eating.

Well those crossfitters are trying to convince me that the WoD's are the ONLY workout I need for losing fat and for getting in better cardio shape for rugby. That just doesn't compute with me. They told me if I did the WoDs as RX'd 3 days on and 1 day off that I'd be able to run circles around my teammates cardio-wise. I did do a Tabata interval on the stationary bike the other day. You think "4 minutes? How hard could that be?" Yikes.

    My new way of eating.

So you said Crossfit was for people already in shape? So it's something you have to work up to right? So I need to be just getting my body in general shape before hitting CF hard and fast? Have you seen this website: http://www.crossfitendurance.com/index.php ?? A lot of the exercises posted on here I don't think I could do correctly. So I probably just need to run sprints, hills, stairs and jog miles before I can undertake something like this. My coach said today "You need a good fitness foundation before you get too crazy and intense." Maybe he's right, maybe I have no foundation right now and that's why I suck at CF and suck at trying to run forever. But that CF Endurance website confuses me. They talk about the evils of "Long Slow Distance" runs. They go on and on about how people that do that are unhealthy and it's all about the intervals, tabatas and time trials. Yet one of their WoDs is a 1-13.5 mile time trial run. (you pick the distance) So what exactly do they consider a long slow distance I wonder?

    My new way of eating.

Sounds like you're going too fast. What speed do you set the treadmill at for a jog? 7 miles per hour.

    My new way of eating.

Well is it how many calories you consume a day or how many you consume in a week? Because I may consume 1200 today, but then have a cheat day on the weekend and get in 3000.
