You can count me in the group that thinks wrestlers need more time off. I see no reason why a roster on rotation couldn't still be a money making one. If they did something similar to how NOAH tours they might be better off. Who is to say if you booked a match for a guy in the last week before he goes off for a week or two that you couldn't just fill the gap with some promos to build interest that way? Hell, when was the last time they did a sit down type of promo ala Foley back during his build as Mankind? For some guys it would be trial by fire to finally learn to cut some compelling shit on the mic. Then they could go and get the rest they need to at least FEEL like they have something of a life of their own. The absence could be filled even with the champion if they just would do some creative scheduling.

Late 95 into 96 I remember a few boring chants. Many of those In Your House PPVs had very little to offer just on paper alone. You could almost kind of tell that much of the ECW audience were disgruntled WWF fans as they would really try to like what was going on in 95 and 96 but just couldn't swallow it. Silence is one thing but when the PAYING crowd starts to revolt you know you have a problem. So you get shit like the crowd crushing a babyface ala Sid/HBK in MSG. I never blamed the workers so much as it was really just Vince going kicking and screaming into the attitude era, finally abandoning all the stupid gimmicks like Friar Ferguson, Dumpster Droce, etc. This is why I think that things TODAY aren't really as bad as some might have you think it. Sure the crowd turns on Cena from time to time but that seems to be isolated to certain areas and certain demographics. Least they aren't sitting on their hands these days or yelling boring. I haven't heard one of those chants in quite some time.

They didn't do anything special. It was booked like Just Another Show instead of the spectacular blowaway supershow that a company's first outing on PayPerView needs to be. Perhaps they feel the need, that since they are not on TV, it would be better to build towards a super show that would do a better buy rate. OR maybe Gabe was being very literal when he said this was just another avenue to promote the company and not much more. I'm still bummed the KENTA match isn't going to be on the PPV. That Nigel match better be great.

Look... another thing to consider here is much like his friends and co-workers who knew him it is such a stretch to think that this respected man DID what is being claimed. This is less than a day old at this point and for some of Benoit's bigger wrestling supporters this is going to take some time to really settle in. Just think of how hard it has to be for people who actually knew him. Now as far as the merch goes this is uncharted territory. How do you just erase somebody who is so ingrained in the history of the company and still run your business?
