I didn't realize they'd pulled Matthew Stafford, but it looks like it was the right move. Backup Joe Cox is 10-13 for 160 and 2 TDs.

Bonus coverage of UGA and Colorado on ESPN 2 now. 13-7 Colorado, and they just stoned Georgia at the CU 12-yard line and took over on downs with 5 minutes to go. I think I would have kicked the field goal there rather than stretch on 4th and 3.

Add to the Illinois/Iowa "surprising scores" file: Cincinnati 10, Virginia Tech 5, just before the half. VT's having a really hard time getting any sort of running game going against what should be a pretty pitiful Cinci team. This is in Blacksburg, too. Meanwhile, Clemson is throttling UNC. Despite the choke against Boston College, Clemson is starting to live up to their preseason hype. I still think Miami will rebound, but at this point Clemson may be the most complete team in a very down ACC.

Holeeeee shit. That's a movie. I was seriously close to hyperventilating in the middle. Never, never get that way about movies. I thought the ending was great and the two leads were fantastic. Two characters true to themselves the whole way through, never a contrivance--it's rare you see that.

I haven't bought a PS2 game in forever. This looks extremely cool. I never got Shadow of the Colossus either...guess I should make an art game weekend of it.

Skype-to-Skype calls (you both have a Skype name and are using VOIP headsets to talk through the computers) are free. Using Skype to call regular phones normally costs money--you buy Skype credit to do that--but such calls are free til the end of this year as they try to get people hooked on it. I use it at my job to talk to people overseas, in places with shitty landlines. Pretty good, as far as shitty internet phones go.

You have to be on the same network as them and have iTunes sharing enabled on the preferences. Then any other available libraries will come up in the sidebar like a playlist. Really cool if you're at a university or an office with tons of people on the same wireless network.

Since I don't think I've seen it done here

Buckwheat is Dead. Ho-lee shit, that never fails to ruin me. Couldn't find it on Youtube or any of the like sites, unfortunately. -
Yeah. By default, Booty will have a good shot at least being in the top 5. All the usual "might be able to beat USC if they have a great day" teams like Oregon and Arizona State have their obvious chances. But even two games into the season, this team looks like it's going to have less of the complacency that had last year's team losing at the half to ASU and a lot of similar situations. They may lose to Notre Dame or even drop a few in conference, but overall I feel more confident about them getting through unscathed than I do Ohio State or any of the SEC teams.

And he loved that fucking band. Life of Agony. Woof.

Back to the music and away from the jizz, I'm really liking this compilation. I've heard more of the songs than I thought I've heard, but I'm finding lots of goodies too.

GT did look good. Particularly Calvin Johnson. I've never quite bought into the hype, but thigh bruise and all, this was one of the most complete games I've seen from him. Dating back to most of last year, he tended to get a circus catch or two and disappear for long stretches. For some reason I still think Miami will rebound and win the Coastal. Dumb instinct. On paper it should be VT/GT, but I can't get past the Chan Gailey 7-win limit and the fact that VT hasn't played anything but patsies yet. Next week will be a decent judge of both teams.

We put flags up now? God, more like UVgay.

Sublime and embarrassing all at once. UVA, by the way, is on disaster street this year. The o-line is terrible. Jameel Sewell, who seems to be QB after a few weeks of uncertainty, is young and completely not ready yet, but he's improving a bit with each appearance. The way they're playing though, they could end up in the bottom fifth of D-I this year. Something like 3-9 is totally a possibility.

OurTunes. But I don't think there's a version that works with iTunes 7 yet.

I would have given my parents bonus points for that.

Czech, you're more of a Daniel. Not a Dan. My mom wanted to name me Andrew. My dad wanted Paul. They compromised.
-
Speaking of 9/11, are we over that yet? So many great possibilities for jokes out there.

Too bad Czech doesn't watch college football. The ESPN production squad is at it again, showing SOUTH CAROLINA 15 MISSISSIPPI 0 at the end of the first quarter. Of Virginia/Georgia Tech.

I hope A Catholic is next. He is a jerk!

I do vidalia onions and mustard on a hot dog. I need to get a half-smoke here in DC to see what they put on those things. Also, I'm sure putting ranch dressing on your pizza improves the taste of the pizza...if you want your pizza to taste like ranch freaking dressing. After some searching, I found a good, but expensive pizza place in Arlington called the Italian Store. Top-notch Italian deli. Takes 35-40 minutes to make the pizza, and you probably have to wait in line another 10 minutes to pay for it when you get there, but it's way good. And you can eat all sorts of Italian cookies and sample of prosciutto while you wait in line. Thumbs up.

The Things That Anger You Thread.

Probably pretty tough. Don't you have to have handicap plates, too? -
UVA goes to Georgia Tech tonight to get mauled. Before the season I was excited about having some national exposure and a Thursday game in September, but not so much right now. Tune in if you want to see Al Groh do his best Art Shell impression on the sidelines. Unless Reggie Ball really, really Reggie Balls it, this has the makings of something like 24-6.
