You know, I was thinking about it, and I have a hard time thinking of something more depressing than being at a child support hearing when you've just turned 21.

I actually prefer the versions I've heard that Arcade Fire do without Byrne. With him involved, it seems a little too much like "holy shit, there's David Byrne, guys!" The original's still the best, though. As I think I've said several times before, I've always been kind of cold on Talking Heads. I have Fear of Music and it's very good, but I admire it more than I love it. I absolutely love about half a dozen of their songs, but overall it just hasn't clicked right yet. I used to say the same thing about Bowie, though, so maybe they'll become fast favorites soon enough.

Yeah. I finally listened to this and...yeah. Smiles were not cracked, nothing was relevant. My initial assessment still stands. Sorry guys. I guess I just hate life.

What happened at the end there? Cable went out for a sec.

He was actually the offensive coordinator, but he still doesn't have the greatest resume. He'll build you a good o-line and probably develop a pretty good power running game, but I'm skeptical about his abilities as a game coach. We generally saw pretty vanilla stuff from him.

Good point. Lost in this weekend is the fact that Colorado lost to Colorado State for the first time in four years, too, continuing the inevitable downward spiral.
-
KSU looked good the first week of the season? Beating a I-AA team by one point? I dunno about that. Prince is an excellent o-line recruiter, if nothing else, so K-State has that to look forward to.

And that time he hit his brother with the phone.

Not before giving him the gentlest of kisses.

Calm down. It's remarkable because it's his first pro game ever and there have been big questions about how he was going to do at an NFL level. He averaged 5 yards a carry and 8 a catch, and looks like he's going to find a good role in the Saints' offense.

The "we can't actually show you the end of this game" rule is asinine.

I can't find coverage or highlights anywhere, but the #2 draft pick's stat line, through 2 and a half quarters: 13 rushes, 68 yards 6 receptions, 42 yards Nice work, Texans.

I think baseball's my least favorite sports to follow. You're welcome to list me as an honorary sufferer.

Are you only pissed because he has GT ranked 1 spot above OU? Because somewhere in the 18-25 range is probably right about where I'd stick Georgia Tech right now, based on what we've seen. They're not a great team but there aren't a whole lot of great-looking teams out there this early in the season. Until every team has 3-5 games under their belts, its hard to tell what kind of team they are yet.

There are lots of unranked 2-0 teams. It's not a top 16, after all.

Tough to say. When I was young and growing up in New Jersey, it was geography and family favorites (Yankees, Giants, Rangers). After moving to Florida I stopped really caring about hockey and baseball and retained some ties to the Giants. Now I also cheer for teams that sport UVA alumni if given the chance (Heath Miller, Tiki, etc.). The only sports I follow really closely are college basketball and college football, and obviously I root for the alma mater in those. I also fell in love with Auburn two years ago after watching them gut out the 10-9 win over LSU and learning that their tailbacks referred to each other as Cadillac and Escalade. For them, it's more of a "damn son, they're badass" kind of respect. As far as the NBA goes, again, I don't really follow it that passionately. Still, ever since the early 90s, I always seem to land on the Suns as a favorite, whether it's because of superpowered whiteboy Dan Majerle, the badass dunking gorilla, or the ridiculously fast-paced team they field now.

Closest. I think we've only gotten to the second tiebreaker once.
-
I read the gametracker and think I got it figured out. Huge pass from Pinckney (ECU QB), receiver fumbled just before the endzone, UAB covers it for the touchback and runs out the clock to win. Wonder if there were cameras at that came to catch it for highlights.

The Big 12 is right up there with you buddy. One show leagues. I don't know if you can say that just yet. Let the Texas/OSU, OU/Oregon, and Nebraska/USC games go by first. Really, no league has shown tremendous dominance so far. The SEC probably looks the best top to bottom right now, but it's really too early to say much of anything.
-
The Texas secondary is depleted a bit by Terrell Brown's suspension, and OSU is going after his backups pretty hard. OSU's receivers are also pretty freakin' great, so it's a strength against a weakness this week.

I'm a huge convert to ESPN Overdrive on ESPNEWS. Lots of bonus coverage all day, good stuff. BC/Clemson was game of the day so far, great all the way through.
-
BC/Clemson game has been very good. Both will be contenders for the Atlantic Division title if they maintain this level of play, but I still think FSU has the edge. NC State, after losing to Akron at home, is certifiably chump change. I can rest easy tonight, not because UVA beat Wyoming 13-12 in OT on a missed extra point, but because shitty quarterback Christian Olsen's time is done after backup Kevin McCabe gets it done. What a ridiculous, ridiculous game. At least we didn't get Akron'd.

Notre Dame scores again. This is turning into a slaughter--I was expecting something more along the lines of a 10-point win. Great slow-man scramble up the middle by Morelli on that last play, though. Syracuse is a miserable, miserable team. With Drew Tate out, Iowa's backup QB has thrown 4 interceptions...and Iowa's still up 10-7 entering the 4th quarter.

So cold, Slayer, so cold in my time of need.
