Hey, I was pretty close. I just picked the wrong spunky blonde girl, or wrong not-black guy, or wrong fat puppet guy. I'm down with President Worf, and thought "Sylar does Saw" was pretty funny, if retarded. It looks like we'll get a few episodes of a thinly veiled superhero Guantanamo fairly soon. Also, we should start a pool on when Hiro will get his powers back through some plot contrivance, and what contrivance that'll be. I'm guessing 7 episodes, and Ando squeezing his arm or something and finding out that the powers were WITHIN HIS HEART ALL ALONG HE JUST HAD TO BELIEVE. Not much really happened in this volume, did it?

I guess Mike D'Antoni really liked having those guys, though I'm surprised this wasn't just done as a three-team deal in the first place if that's the case.

Sounds much more akin to my beloved comics of his than the rather overwrought novels. I'll investigate.

The Soft Rock and subgenre discussion thread

I think they might be high on consolation. -
Any truth to this story about Turner Gill getting turned down because he's a black guy with a white wife? Not good in Alabama? I have a hard time believing there could be many other reasons. Maybe Gill asked for too much money, and they wanted a cheapie since they still have to pay out Tuberville's remaining contract, or maybe he just wanted to wait a year to see if any better jobs opened. Of course, I'm also not willing to rule out "they're just really, really stupid," considering that they canned Tuberville in the first place.

Yeah, I would have expected them to kill it. The Bryan Ferry video is pretty awesome.

Oh fuck did 1'30" kill me.

I think it's a step up just to get in the Mountain West, where his team will play TCU, BYU, and Utah every year. If he can get a team to 12-0 in the MWC, they're going to the BCS, whereas he obviously didn't have much shot at that in the MAC given the pretty low level of opposition.

Given the way Cassel's been throwing lately, Cards/Patriots has some pleasant shootout potential.

I love the entire Sandman series, but pretty much gave up on Neil Gaiman the novelist after Neverwhere and American Gods. Lovely writing in parts, but not a lot more to distinguish them from normal airport trash thrillers otherwise. What's Coraline like?

Hey, he started 2-0 this year. And then lost 10 games in a row to finish 2-10. His winning percentage in two years of Cyclonin' it is actually .210.

Spiders 4 life. Maybe Virginia can fire Al Groh next year and bring Mike London back to coach the whole team instead of just the defense. Re: the bowl poll - I usually like to go with "eat a bullet" whenever it's a choice in something like this, but I think FAU/CMU at prestigious Ford Field could actually be pretty fun. Prolific passers and C-level small school defenses could make it all right.

So did he get the coat, or did he die? Mall Santas, man. So weird. I never really went, but I can imagine what it's like for a 5-year-old to tell Santa he wants some weird thing, and then mom and dad can't get it or forget to get it. A world of illusions, shattered, and a really annoying Christmas for the family.

U2 did more to turn off fans with its Zooropa album. To date, they've yet to bust out a song from that album during any of their US concerts. I'm pretty sure they've played both "Stay" and "The First Time" on a few occasions. -
“This is a gift from the Iraqis; this is the farewell kiss, you dog." Hilarious.

Friend of mine who went to Tisch worked there. He wasn't bad, but he always had stories about this one guy with whom he often shared shifts. When customers would start walking up to pay for rentals, he'd do things like turn to another employee and say "I wonder when Tarantino's going to bring all those movies back" or "Remember when Ad-Rock and Ione used to come in here all the time? Too bad about them." re: Borders/Barnes and Noble--I've actually never gotten anything but excellent customer service at either place. I get the feeling that it's a more soothing and peace-inducing retail job than, say, Walmart or Target. -
I pretty much completely forgot it was Heath Ledger or that this "Heath Ledger" had died while I was watching the movie, so I'll agree. Award shows are just about the worst ever, but I perceive the Golden Globes to be shittier than all of them. I think it has to do with the fact that it's generally a bunch of people sitting at round tables smirking. Tends to give off the vibe of either a night out to see Annie Get Your Gun at the local dinner theater, or a "Let's all enjoy the fine catering of Doubletree Hotel Conference Room C" moment at the end of a week-long business convention.

Hey, how about that Pierre Thomas? Nastiest dude named Pierre I can recall in some time.

I had Charon in a set of fully repaired Enclave armor most of the time. 40 DR armor, 9 DR helmet. I think it has the same stats as the Outcast armor, but the condition was probably a big help. I had repair more or less maxed by the mid-teen levels, so most of my equipment was in perfect condition or close to it. The T51B worked well for NPCs too, obviously.

I think we should have that in a text file, ready for copy-paste every 15 months or so.

I think it's just fun. If you want to min/max, sure, go ahead, but it's also fun to play as a cannibal or slap on the Regulator duster and go hunting criminals. If you want to creep around murdering people in their sleep, more power to you--just wait till night. That perk also gives you bonus XP for every sleeping kill, just like passing a speech check or unlocking a box does. Some of the perks have obvious benefits to every character, but others are novelties. They extend the life of the game a fair bit, I think.

TSM 2008 Year-End Awards: The TSMmys

Totally forgot about "I Banned Choken One." Possibly the hardest I've laughed from something on the internet. There were a two or so pages in there that were simply flawless.
