Kibagami/Wander the Wind was the first guy to use Unfuckwithable. Dames dug it too, I think. I forget what the rest of this thread was like. Has anyone mentioned pro or con on Radiohead? I was just checking, and they're only in their late 30s. They can keep working at the kind of music they've been making since 2000 pretty easily, and probably doing a decent job of it too. Even a merely decent-good album like Hail to the Thief had a healthy share of great and/or unexpected songs. When they get really old they can turn into crusty prog-rockers.

The Shield, season 5, official thread
Edwin MacPhisto replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
It's such a great thing they're doing this season. Putting on the pressure. Putting the worst thing Vic's ever done--the first bad thing we ever really saw him do--right in our faces, front and center, reminding us of this great character's one massive terrible deed. The episodes have been excellent overall, but really this whole season is asking a vast question about whether you punish someone for a past sin, assess them for how they've changed, and what it's like to actually root for a murderer. Such great damn TV. -
My goddamn tape cut off a few beats early again. I need to start adding some extra minutes. What was Sawyer's answer to Charlie asking "What did they forget?"

Cam'Ron plans to confront Internet Pedofiles on new DVD

How could you not want to see this? Yeah, maybe not buy it, but I would rent or steal this without a second thought. It's going to be hilarious. -
Curtis is kind of boring, but I enjoy him, especially after he broke out of being detained by all those guys last year after Talk Soup girl lured him there. He was kind of Black Bauer for a while.

I don't think so - they're probably quite important to British pop in the past 10 years. Saying much?? Not a fan but they were quite a decent group and will be remembered. 10 years? I thought they got their deal in 2001, released two shitty albums, and have a Liam Gallagher-wannabe lead singer who somehow continues to get press despite being a deeply uninteresting musician beyond his addictions. I guess their absolutely nonexistent impact in the U.S. colors my impression of them significantly.

8-8 is being optimistic at this point. This is there 4th Straight loss to one of the worst Major Basketball Programs on the Planet. Maryland has no fire at all, and UNC is going to run rings around them. I don't even think they'll beat Virginia at this point either, as Virginia REALLY wants to make the Tournament. As for Alabamba....they're done. Ranking them at the beginning of the season was a big joke. UNC's got them, no question in my mind, but I could see them holding at home against Miami and GT, and then stealing the FSU game. The Clemson losses do always seem to take the wind out of their sails, though. I agree on Virginia--UMD is also the last game of the season and the last game at U-Hall before they open up the big new stadium next year. Virginia will have TJ Bannister back by that point, which is going to give them a tremendous three-guard rotation. Sean Singletary and J.R. Reynolds being in foul trouble with no viable alternatives was the main reason they let the game at Maryland slip away. I love Coach Leitao. Seriously, he's turned a program that none of us UVA kids have cared about at all for three years into the hottest thing in town. I only see the ACC getting 5 teams this year, unless one of the four bubble teams goes on a big, big run in the conference tournament. Or a few more of the SEC and Big 10's bubble teams start choking down the homestretch.

Songs That Have Never Been Done Right...
Edwin MacPhisto replied to The Man in Blak's topic in Music
They're talking about Rufus Wainwright. Hearing Rufus and Chaka Kahn do "Hallelujah" would be awesome. I got the point of the thread, but abstained because I couldn't really think of an example. The best I had was "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" (Dylan again?), but I think it's just a so-so song, not necessarily one done wrong in its original conception. The GnR version is terrible, and apparently a shitload of other people have done it; Wikipedia tells me U2, Warren Zevon, Avril Lavigne (!), Bob Marley, Cat Power, and Roger Waters are just a few. -
The Libertines are totally unimportant and pretty bad to boot. How can you conceive that they're in any way relevant. And Sons and Daughters, too. You're not batting 1000. They're miserable live.

That's rough for them. Takes them to 5-6 in the ACC. At this point, teams like Miami, FSU, Maryland, and UVA are going to need 9-7 in conference +1 in the ACC tournament if they're going to make it in on the bubble. With away games at FSU, UNC, and UVA, UMD is looking more like an 8-8 team right now. Alabama lost to South Carolina, too. Their chances are similarly slipping away.

All-beef, split, on a potato roll bun, with vidalia onions, diced green peppers, and a line or two of ketchup. When I'm feeling less fancy, no splitting, and scrap everything but the onions.

I'll be getting my Master's in English in the spring. The extra year after undergrad it took me to get the degree has settled me on not wanting to be a professor. Few people, even in highly regarded English departments, actually seem to care about the actual pedagogical aspect of being a professor, and are more concerned with publishing and getting citations. That kind of environment seems a bit masturbatory for me, so I'm taking the terminal M.A. and heading into the real working world come May.

Was Sawyer looking to the empty driver's seat in the car the last shot of the episode? My tape cut out. Great episode, as you've all said. Whoever said that it makes the last blah Charlie episode more worthwhile is definitely right. Also, I loved all the in-jokes as to the really convoluted theories about the show. Hurley saying "or any time--just kidding dude," and the book Locke was looking at, which you might have noticed as Ambrose Bierce's An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge. That book is fairly famous for being one of the first "it was all a dream!" stories, as the entire book turns out to be the dream of a dying soldier in the Civil War.

Watch out for my cousin. He's never done anyone any good.

I say pre-game. I've let you all down. But I don't yell WE PREGAAAAAAMED HARRRRRRRRD either, so maybe I've only let you all down from like a stepstool. is the best thing I've read today.

Treat yourself to a $20 new shower curtain from Linens and Things. You've earned it. Speaking of rent, how 'bout those northern Virginia rates? I'm going to have to live in Popick's basement or something next year.

Crazy druggie sister is the worst. Filler episode for sure.

So what time's the actual kickoff tonight? I loathe me some pre-game.
