They sure look good this year.

The aforementioned Scott Tenorman and Krazy Kripples episodes are probably the best. I also really, really love the episode with the sea monkeys and all the semen.

My complaints with the beginning aren't related to the show moving slowly; it's relating to the general uselessness of the Michael and Jin/Sun flashbacks. Didn't really tell us anything we didn't know, didn't do it in particularly illuminating ways. The utter absence of any scenes in or relating to the bunker under the hatch in this latest episode was, as others have noted, kinda strange. I feel like the writers are putting out a very inconsistent froth of stuff right now, not really sure where they want to go with anything and kind of existing in a holding pattern. That Hurley episode was pretty great, though.

I think one of the reasons no one named Liquid Swords initially is that the first Wu-Tang album is still better than pretty much anything Wu-related that followed it. Lots of the solo albums are really good (and Liquid Swords is one of the best), but Enter the Wu-Tang is unstoppable.

I've taken tequila shots with the woman who's basically second-in-command at the PTC. She's really nice.

I usually wait till Wednesday night or Thursday afternoon to see if any unexpected injuries or pre-game changes arise. I almost forgot this week, but I've yet to miss a week ever.

$$ UVA gave it away. I can't believe it. Losing in a fucking baseball score? Truly embarrassing.

The Big 10 has seven available, but come on: the SEC and Big XII have eight apiece! Totally silly. Virginia/UNC is an ugly defensive game. I don't like the looks of thing heading into the last five minutes, though UVA does have UNC pinned at the 5.

The Others are obviously not all children, nor are they "after children," and no, Walt wasn't with them. Yikes.

Worth bumping because I saw it tonight, and it's marvelous. If you think it's boring, your lack of attention span is stunning. If you're fanofcoils you're just hopeless. Madmartigan was right to point to the Ebert review, which is one of his best analyses of film in recent memory.

Did I or anyone else ever recommend Ultramagnetic MCs Critical Beatdown last time, if you didn't have it? Cause that's Keith doing great things, and Ced Gee is even better.

I dunno. We'll have to go the whole season, I think. If OU finishes any worse than 7-4, it's them. Michigan is otherwise probably more surprising, if only because Henne and Hart were so good as freshman last year and have underachieved thus far. That said, I still really wouldn't be that surprised to see Michigan stuff Iowa this weekend, turn around, and be playing for the Big Ten title against Ohio State in November. That whole conference is a toss-up at this point.

Virginia Tech rolls, but MV2 throws three picks and gives Maryland plenty of chances. We'll have to see how Texas handles Texas Tech this weekend, but I think I'm still pretty firm in USC/Texas as my #1 and #2.

The Serenity movie thread

No, I just don't think any of us really replied. More or less a Buffybot. -
Most of mine have been chosen (namely Aquemini and In the Aeroplane Over The Sea). But also, Biggie's Ready to Die and Radiohead's The Bends. Whoever suggested Dream Theater is nuts.

Spoiler tags, guys, come on.

Kotz just broke out the old school sig and avatar, yeowch. Who would have guessed 7 weeks ago that Michigan/Iowa would be a battle of unranked teams? And this is also the week that we start to get an idea of who from the SEC West is going to be tangling with Georgia the first week of December. I don't think this week will come close to last weekend's absolute overload of incredible games, but there are some good ones tucked in there.

Holla.

Thinking about it. Exciter was all right. I kinda want to go see them on their big tour, but no one I know is into them enough to come along, and I can think of few things lamer than going to a Depeche Mode concert by yourself.

The first was one of the funniest, worst movies I've seen in theatrical release. Lacking Cary Elwes and Danny Glover's ridiculous histrionics will probably sting this one a bit.

All that Southern Comfort. Fucking gross.

I hope Locke's Dad =/= original Sawyer. Show's cool, but every time someone comes up with one of those semi-cheesy connections I want to shout "please god no."

It's not like OU is likely to miss a bowl at this point either. Baylor and Oklahoma State are dreadful (though Baylor's probably the better team, which is funny), and A&M looks like shit too. And really, even a team that finishes 5th or 6th in the Big XII gets to hit up something decent like the Alamo Bowl. Besides, while a mediocre season is obviously going to disappoint, going, like, 35-5 over the past three years has got to lessen the blow a bit. College football is up and down, always has been.

I had a sip of Budweiser's idiot beer/energy drink hybrid, B to the E (seriously) this weekend. You probably shouldn't pick that one. I've had a Doubleshot here and there, once during a rare all-nighter. They work, but if you're not going to be asleep three hours after taking one, your stomach is going to feel like you just had a back-alley abortion in there.
