What was the ending? Spoil it for me, please. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Haven't seen it, but a friend of mine was telling me how lame it was last night:

The Shield Season 4 Offical Thread
Edwin MacPhisto replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
Last night FX started airing the Shield from the very beginning. They're going to be showing the whole run of the show in order every Saturday night from 11-2, leading up to Season 5 in January. I had never seen the first season, so that was a treat. VCRs and Tivos ahoy. -
Georgia Tech going up 4 slots on the basis of not playing and ergo not losing by 44 points this week is my pick for goofiest move (drunk, I know). I know teams lost, but after an ass-whooping like that you need to show me something before you go up at all. I like your top 10 a whole lot, though, even if I would still have Texas at number 2. That win over Missouri was much better than the win over WVU, and though Tech looks good, they still don't have anything as impressive as taking down Ohio State on the road yet. Although I don't agree with that move either, we're getting to the point in the season where the transitive property of victories doesn't mean all that much. I mean, Notre Dame beat Michigan, but Michigan State beat Notre Dame, but wait, Michigan beat Michigan State! You can't just play that easy game now that teams have 4-5 games under their belts.

FSU is quietly turning into a real team. Drew Weatherford has look much more Chris Weinke than Chris Rix the past few games, and with Miami out of the way and no Virginia Tech on the schedule, I think FSU has an easier road to unbeaten in the ACC than the Hokies. They'll probably slip up somewhere and end up with a loss or two, but they get exponentially better with each game and don't look anything like the chumps we were all predicting to go 7-4 pre-season.

Good damn band. Zen Arcade is big-time, and Warehouse: Songs and Stories is a great place to look if you're into the somewhat poppier side. I love that album. I've only heard a few scattered tracks beyond those two albums but they're slowly becoming a favorite.

So we're looking at about 12 million for the weekend, which is about to be expected with the niche market and small number of theaters. Not bad, but probably not sequel cash. You can count me in for another $8 in another week or two, though. -
Virginia is out there embarrassing themselves against Maryland, losing 45-33. I thought UVA was past the "play hard on the road, then wilt in the 4th quarter" that has plagued them for years, but I guess I was wrong. How you give up over 500 yards to Maryland is beyond me. One offensive touchdown so far today, and this was a painful game to writhe through. And, uh, I think Louisville shrugged off those first-half jitters. 61-10.

Lots of song titles get used over and over again by different bands. My choice for the one with the best track record is "I Want You," which in my mind contains top-10 songs from Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, and the Beatles. So what else is cool, huh.

OMG AHHH GOOD SHIT Oh man that was fucking great. Wow. Exceeded expectations by about 40 times over. I went to a 4 PM showing with a friend after I got off work, and the theater was 2/3 full in a town of maybe 50,000 people. Were they ever into it too. Did I mention Everything was great. Best sci-fi movie in forever. It succeeded in making me miss the show infinitely more than I ever did before too, but what a triumph for everyone involved. -

Oh man. Has this been posted anywhere? David LaChappelle (director of Rize, a bunch of Missy Elliott videos, etc.) did this promo for Lost in the UK. If you've ever wanted to see the cast dancing on the beach to a Portishead song, now's your chance.

Big, big weekend for Virginia, who has been probably the quietest of all the ranked teams thus far. At Maryland may not seem like much of a test, but almost all of the name UVa players--most importantly Ahmad Brooks and D'Brickashaw Ferguson--are questionable for Saturday with injuries. Virginia's biggest weakness this year has been the underneath passing game to tight ends, and Maryland just happens to have one of the best in the nation at that in Vernon Davis. If Brooks and Brick start and aren't hampered, Virginia will win a close one against a Maryland team that always gets up for this game. If not, they're going to have to blow Maryland over right out the gates, go vertical and get a 14 point lead before playing ball control the rest of the game. No matter who wins, I think this is going to be a 24-20, 23-17, something in that range slugfest. A win here would make me much, much more optimistic about going to BC and hosting FSU in subsequent weeks. As for Tennessee and LSU, I float them both somewhere around #8-12. One great win each, one disappointing loss each. Tennessee will get better with Clausen locked in at QB, and LSU will get better too, but like you said, the SEC is always a crapshoot to see who really is the best out of the 4-5 very good teams it tends to field each year. I think Alabama has a great chance against UF this weekend, which would open up the West race even more. And if Alabama beats UF, I'm going to say that Tennessee will take the east. Georgia is a really, really tough team to evaluate right now, because they've been very okay since Boise State self-destructed for them opening weekend. I'm waiting for them to hit one of the big guns and really show us what they're worth.

They've shown them all in a handful of mini-marathons. I may go tomorrow afternoon if I get out of work soon enough. Man, this should be fun. -
Hey don't try to act like you didn't like "Get at me Dog" and "Ruff Ryder Anthem". Hell, I even liked "Where Da Hood At." <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But whole albums? Yeowch. I do really like the part at the end of "Ruff Ryders Anthem" where he shouts "TALK IS CHEAP MOTHERFUCKER" followed by automatic gunfire. All class.

I like the title track a lot. It's not a bad album or anything, but it's up against stiff fucking competition. I also can't believe there's someone out there who's listened to enough DMX albums to evaluate his catalog.
-
"Sister Ray" is all right but "The Gift" is only cute a few times. All slapped together that stuff can't add up to how good the rest of their catalog is over and over again.
-
I'll crap on your head.
-
I was just thinking that. Why rush to speciously defend Tom DeLay of all people?
-
My big worry for the long term fate of the show is that it's going to have some massive sci-fi bullshit involved. Weird stuff is great, but I at least want it all to make some sense in the long run. Oh, and if anyone caught any of Invasion after Lost: is that a seminar in how do you make boring television or what? Yikes.

15 years old. Someone take the over/under.

What fascinates me about the media right is how fascinated they get with these douchebags and small cases. Like, hasn't it been a month since this woman stopped saying anything anyone cared about? Move on to talking about celebrities again.

Sentimental and heartwarming and all that, but the evil part of me wishes it had been a pick-6.

In a way I like that his background is so plain and boring, because just about everybody else is gratuitously exceptional in some fashion. But it does make for rather dull flashbacks. Here's a dude who probably didn't even need a second flashback episode. I struggle to think what would happen in a third. How long do you think the show will maintain the flashbacks? Is this always going to be a part of it, or, at some point, will we have had enough of everyone's background that we won't need them to be central parts of every episode, week in and week out?

No, Charlie knows full well that Momma Jesus is crammed with H. And yeah the symbol on the shark was visible--my mother called me to say "DID YOU SEE THAT SYMBOL ON THE SHARK ON LOST??? THAT WAS UNDER THE HATCH!" Moms like this show, guys. We're so gay.

Well, that was almost certainly the least interesting episode of Lost ever. Next week's preview was better than all of this one. Nothing new or interesting or really even exciting character-wise (since we all already knew that it was hard for Michael to give up Walt, but that he's devoted, etc.) except a role for the numbers, which admittedly is interesting.
