So I fell behind on watching episodes when ABC started running the repeats out of order. Weak. I guess I have to knuckle up, buy the DVDs, and watch them. Though I wonder how much it would cost to just rent the discs I haven't seen...

I actually counted the "fucks" in the South Park movie about the tenth time I saw it, and I had about 140, so that number is right on. But keep in mind that it's surely one of the densest, only being about 80 minutes long.

It's got to be fully national. I can't see anyone replacing a matchup between two top 10 teams this early with anything.
-
By the way, today was the day I've enjoyed most in the past two weeks or so. I don't care that my team struggled with a team they should have whooped; today was a good day of college football and I'm so happy it's back.

I was at the Virginia game. It was great at first--got up 24-3 a few minutes into the second quarter, and we were rolling. Unfortunately, as seems to be tradition now, one of our most important players went down on the second offensive series, and that was Wali Lundy. Without him the offense stalled...until Groh got some balls and put in redshirt freshman Cedric Peerman, who is the future of this program at running back. Guy is great. Anyway, there were a few high points. Our generally conservative offense tried quite a few plays in a spread formation, and made good use of big fullback Jason Snelling in the tailback spot. But the secondary is still incredibly vulnerable to short underneath routes for 7-12 yards; Western Michigan's QB should not be putting up 250 yards on this much talent. I think UVA will make some adjustments and still pull out a solid season, especially with Ahmad Brooks being ready for the Syracuse game. On the rest of the day: the OU loss was obviously a huge stunner, and even though I thought Georgia would probably beat Boise, I was thinking by maybe 2 touchdowns, not 5. Surprising to see Notre Dame run away with it like that. Good day overall.

Like I said on the music board, everything Kanye said is right, except for his last statement, which was quite ridiculous. I don't know why you should give a shit about him saying something negative when the dude is probably going to drop a huge amount of money into relief, way more than any of us are. Get your priorities straight.
-
Doesn't matter. No one who was going to buy Kanye's very good new album isn't now. Most of what he said was right anyway, and if he actually does send off a huge chunk of money to the Red Cross, any backlash would be incredibly irrelevant.

The largest problem with The Chronic is its so-so second half. I love the album dearly, but all of the Dogg Pound guys do much better work on Doggystyle. There's a stiff blend of party tracks and hard-talk gangsta tracks on The Chronic, which makes it difficult to recommend for either purpose exclusively. That middle stretch of stuff like "High Powered" and "Stranded on Death Row" are largely posse tracks that lack beats as interesting as material that even dates back to the N.W.A. albums. Banky's right in that Ready to Die does a better balancing act of all these things; Biggie does it all even within single songs.

...But you don't save money. That's what nobody seems to get about these things yet. The only people who are saving money are the guys who've built charging kits for their garages and have tweaked their cars to get 200 miles per gallon. And even that is a ton more upfront cost.

The "Diamonds" remix is much better than the single, so I'm glad it's there. The Broke Phi Broke stuff sucks, but the album as a whole is good. It might be great, but I need to listen to it a lot more to figure that out. The only part of any skit I needed on the first album was "No, I don't know what sex is, but I bet I can add up the change in your pocket, very fast."

Hybrids aren't worth the money at this point. They cost too much more than a comparable non-hybrid; even with gas so expensive, you still won't make back the extra cash you pay for the technology, even if you keep the car for 5 years. They also tend to have a hell of a time accelerating with the super-weak engine. If you really care about fuel economy, just get some sort of compact or coupe. The latest Honda Civics pull something like 38/32 and a regular Civic will cost you about $8,000 less than its hybrid equivalent, I believe. Also, those two Scions look dumb as all hell, but the tC (which is essentially Toyota's replacement for the Celica) is actually a pretty good car all-around for basic purposes.

I enjoy the Mastodon and Neurosis I've heard. Mostly though, I'm a fag. My opinion of their sucktitude stems from I saw them open at a show, and man were they dull. They weren't even sludgy at that point.

These dudes suck, or at least they did two years ago.

Ever since I saw her perform "Since U Been Gone" on SNL and saw the guitarist take a weird feedback-laden solo (which was hilarious in a Kelly Clarkson song), it gets stuck in my head a lot, and people do not enjoy my singing/air guitaring. There's actually a ton of feedback and distortion in all of her singles. Really weird for such manufactured pop, but I kinda like it. The whole detuned, monotone guitar part that runs all through the song you mentioned is really strange. -
New Jersey has become one of UVA's huge recruiting spots. Still can't touch much of that Florida talent, but NJ is a nice little hotbed with a whole lot of good players for the taking. I'm still surprised anyone coming out of Florida goes anywhere but the big 3 schools down there.

I'm with Banky. Vitamin X is never going to marry that girl. Tyler probably will marry his, though. You guys need to watch Purple Rain a few more times, though. "Never get married." Clarence Williams III knows what's up.

I like "Moonlight Mile" too. Does most of the grand stuff "You Can't Always Get What You Want" overloads on, but well.
-
I guess I need to give these guys a shot, since all my peeps be all-up-ons. Etc.

Do you mean like "MENSA-level intelligence" or "writes amazing songs" when you say brilliant? If it's the former, no, I didn't know that. If it's the latter, I laugh out loud. The latter. I think with him you either get it or you don't. The man is absolutely the best at what he sets out to accomplish and I think his is a worthwhile goal. Depeche Mode's great, though I always want to kick Martin Gore in the nuts after hearing "Somebody" or any of his other big-time weepers. -
That girl looks absolutely identical to someone I know. Horrifying.

A UVA grad came up with that when he was thinking about how well UVA football correlated to Mobb Deep's career. Really true. I love just about all of the matchups.

Andrew W.K. is rather brilliant, but you knew that. -
