That's my understanding. The NRP All Songs Considered website has a stream of the last concert they played in D.C., if you want a taste. I think tickets were something like $40 when they played the 9:30 Club a couple weeks ago. Yuck.

9/10 The Wrens 9/16 Of Montreal 9/22 M.I.A. 10/2 The Decemberists I haven't been to a concert since Interpol in March, so this rush of shows is going to be a joy.

Fuck your veggie burger. I just cooked up a fat pan of sausage, sweet onions, peppers, and potatoes, and it had to be the best thing I've eaten in a long time. Few things more satisfying than a good meal cooked and devoured.

I would probably be a little more excited if my team wasn't taking the field against Western Michigan. The starters will be out by the middle of the 3rd quarter. And it's murderous on my fan mindset that UVA starts with a cupcake, then has a bye week immediately thereafter. The first game against a real team (Syracuse, which might be a stretch for that category) isn't til September 17. Of course, none of this is going to prevent me from decking out in orange, tailgating for 4 hours before kickoff, and being overjoyed when the game starts.

Largely excellent, mournful songwriting, and a compressed anxiety that's really satisfying when it pops off (witness "Teeth Like God's Shoeshine"). And people who hate Radiohead should just buy The Bends, which I challenge anyone not to like. It completely lacks any of the stuff people usually complain about (they're so wanky, what's this music all about, this is boring) and is start-to-finish packed with great songs.

Someone else actually recalls/likes these guys? I saw them open for Stabbing Westward in '96 and got hooked, but other than "Goldfinger" and "Girls From Mars", they never really had anything that stood out or got major airplay around here. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ash is pretty fine when they're good. Intergalactic Sonic 7"s is all I need from them, but it's worth having. "Layla" in Goodfellas is #1, but Lou Reed's "Perfect Day" in Trainspotting is way up there too.

The best thing the Vines ever did, since we're talking about bands that suck, was when the lead singer did an interview with Rolling Stone and said that he wanted his tombstone to be a statue of Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan with "MY DARK ANGEL" inscribed on it. My roommate stole someone's Jet CD and ran over it. It was a good day.

I sincerely want to fuck the taste out of your mouth.

What kind of a retarded question is that? Oh god, no, the opportunity for success. It's not like they're cutting a rap record with Bono and Lil' Jon. And god, does K-Os suck.

I'm not gonna look at my schedule. I have no fear.

Someone not protesting the war isn't really notable. It's status quo. Her efforts are unique. Hence the news covers it.

Rechargeable. It's a lithium-ion one. There was some trouble with batteries losing their charge too quickly about 2 years ago, but it seems to have been fixed now. Using the equalizer, my new iPod comfortably gets about 12 hours a charge, a little less if I use the backlight, and a little more if I don't use the EQ.

With Owens on the skids and Pinkston out, my Virginia boy Billy McMullen might actually get some playing time this year. Not too good a sign, though, when you've got two years in the league and the 2nd round rookie leapfrogs you on the depth chart...

Okay, the repeats are showing out of order. I taped last week's episode because ABC skipped one and I didn't feel like tumbling in having missed what looked like a really important show. Should I just wait for the DVDs to finish this thing off, or go as they skip?

Bored, I'm pretty sure that Black Widow has been banned. You can check if she's registered another screen name or not, I guess. And as for that first week...vengeance (or double-shame) shall be mine.

I've got N.C. State in that game. I don't expect Vick to have it all together that early and that veteran defense on N.C. State is going to do some damage. I'm expecting another low scoring grind-out like last year's matchup. This one's in Raleigh, too. Also, Iggy's rankings are perfectly acceptable guesses, and no different from any other preseason silliness in that respect. I disagree with the placement of maybe 3 or 4 teams, which makes it not bad. As for Boise State: I dont deny that they're a very good team, but unless they can take 2 of their opening 3 (at Georgia, at Oregon State, vs. Bowling Green), I don't think they'll be able to prove that they're even top-15 material. No one in this year's WAC besides Fresno and Boise are worth a damn, and any good team can beat up on lousy squads week after week.

That's going to be an ugly situation.
-
So what's the situation with Johnson and the Suns, then? If the deal doesn't go through because the Hawks ownership essentially calls it off, does Phoenix still have to match Atlanta's offer sheet, or can they offer Johnson at their own pleasure?

36 Chambers, Ready to Die, and Aquemini are my tops. The latter isn't really the same style as the first two, of course.
-
That's false, because, well, nothing is better than Ready to Die. Maybe Aquemini, depending on my mood.

I'm not sure anyone cares enough about the Grammys to make that connection. Maroon 5 guy is on the new Ying Yang Twins album, too. Also, Biggie is the greatest.

After the scooter thing, you getting that tours job would officially make you "most-harebrained-job-havin'-person-I-know."
-
I'd listen to it, but am having a hell of a time getting file-sharing programs to do me any good lately.

No, it really is the best hard-drive based mp3 player. I mean, you can get a Creative player for much cheaper, but you get what you pay for. It's much larger than the iPod, the interface is awkward, and the process of organizing your music and transferring it is more difficult than it should be (unless newer ones have started to let you use iTunes, which I doubt). How much space are you looking for? There's a similar thread to this in the Computers folder.

Spurrier votes Duke #25 in every year's preseason poll. Gives love to the guys that got him his start and says that he won't vote them out of the top 25 until they lose...which, of course, they generally take care of very quickly.
