What a great reacquisition Alonzo Mourning has been for Miami. I love seeing him back in the thick of things, and playing well to boot.

^^ A winner indeed. That's an album I enjoy anytime, regardless of mood.

I tried to listen to the Killers' album yesterday to appease a friend and give it a fair shake, but I couldn't get past track 8 and listened to Disco Volante instead. Sorry, friend.

The Current Events folder. It's a lot like Hitler.

Just rewrite the board rules ex post facto so that having your girlfriend beat you up with a phone is a bannable offense. -

I cried a bit. -
Don't worry, Matt Young. I do dislike the Mars Volta, but in this case I was only referring to the painfully "high-concept" song titles.

"Twilite Kid" and "Verti-Marte" are my favorites off that. If you like Dulli and don't have Blackberry Belle, the follow-up album, you should.

Tracklist: "The Propaganda" "The Truth" "The Priest" "The Key" "The Channel" "The Story" "The Surrender" Not even the Mars Volta are this gay.

The board search engine informs me that this is one of only three threads in its history that have referred to Tom Waits' Nighthawks at the Diner, which I'm listening to presently. His Swordfishtrombones and beyond stuff is obviously the more manifestly weird, but the whole live-lounge-act thing he does here is just as odd a listen in its own right.

I'm pretty sure Anglesault was gainfully unemployed. We certainly drove him to change or end his life by kicking him out of the club.

I finally bought a proper New Order album, picking up Low-Life tonight. Very good, and the first song, "Love Vigilantes," was worth the entire purchase, because I never would have it heard it otherwise and it's one of the coolest, most unique New Order songs I've ever heard. I also bought INXS' Kick on vinyl for $1.99. I don't even have a record player, but that cover is going to look ridiculous when I hang it on my wall. Might even frame the bastard.

Card's The Worthing Saga is actually even better than Ender's Game. No Ender book is as good as the first, but if you can find a copy of Worthing--and I believe it was recently reprinted, so you might even be fine with a Barnes & Noble run--grab it. Most of his stuff is pretty disappointing, but that's a hell of a book.

No touches for Nash in Dallas = more for Nowitzki, whose breakout season did a lot for them. They also brought in Dampier who, while not great, helped make the offense shift to a focus on the big men. And of course there's Jerry Stackhouse, who, while no longer putting up 29 a game, was a huge contribution off the bench. They didn't just not replace Nash, after all.
-
Why would you pick this season's MVP based on what the team he's no longer on did? Nash running Phoenix's offense and swinging them to the best record in the league is a lot more significant than the fact that his old team continued to be good. Also, even if you want to go by that method, you certainly can't discount the fact that the Lakers also lost Karl Malone...and Gary Payton. And Phil Jackson. And one of their best bench players.

FDA: protecting America from faggot seed

I don't get the problem with an ad like that. -
I just say p in the b, as if "penis" were a verb. "It" seems so perfunctory.
-
Alexis Bleidel is a little young in the first season. But you know, hard times. I won't judge you. I know some sluts in Orlando who might let you p in the b, so to speak. I'll see if I can work out a deal.

Was just listening to this on a ride back from IHOP, "Fire Fire" specifically. It's getting better, even.

Jesus & Mary Chain industrial? Fuzzy, but nah. The common opinion is the good one here, first two albums are pretty fun/impressive and "The Perfect Drug" is a pretty neat song. The Fragile is just overdone to all hell and is probably the silliest CD I still own. The new single, at least, is worse than what I remember from that.

The Backstreet Boys just finished up a club tour, I think. I'm listening to Mr. Bungle for the first time. Disco Volante. Good stuff that I like better than any other Mike Patton project I've heard, perhaps with the exception of the Dillinger Escape Plan EP.

Not even close to everyone who smokes gets involved in this "burnout" lifestyle. I know a bunch of lawyers who go through an eighth a week, and scads of school teachers who light up after work. Pot's pot, and if you want to be a giggly dumbass, you sure can, but it's far from mandatory. Some people drink a beer after work; others pack a bowl.

Slayer, you've got 48 hours to evacuate. I'm melting Kansas.

My old Casio played "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" for the demo. You could play along with it using some of the weird effects and make it sound utterly terrifying.

I like Eazy best as a hype man. His ranting at the end of "One Less Bitch" is probably my favorite moment from his career, maybe excepting all of "Gimme Dat Nutt."

The current President, President Logan, isn't doing so well with his new responsibilities after the Air Force One crash. He ordered Jack to be arrested in the middle of the seizure of Marwan, and Marwan got away. Mike Novick recommended he bring in Palmer to help, and now Palmer is working with the President's authority.
