Most of these CRAZY HUGE CASES--the ones that even get to juries--get the bulk of their remedies tossed on appeal anyway. Tort reform might be good in some realms, but 90% of the monster verdicts you read about in the news get reduced big-time. More importantly, my favorite Waffle House items, in order of preference: Raisin toast Pecan waffle Double hash browns, covered and chunked

...Whoa. The writers always surprise. That was an episode of 24 pretty much unlike anything they've done before. What fantastic scripting to run those stories parallel and then have the nuts to go with it. Whoa.

Everyone just needs to go see XXX 2 and chill out.

I thought that was half the point of going.

Moons Over My Hammy and the grasshopper blender blaster are both worthwhile, or at least were back in the day. In my old age I've turned into a Waffle House man.

He was a 2 term governor, and only just started his second term as a senator. Yeah, I know he did the governor thing, but by the time the campaigns would really be gearing up, he'd already have 8 years of Senate time under his belt. All the votes along the way can kill you. Getting past that, he'd be a nice fit.

I saw some old Birch Bayh campaign ads a few weeks ago, and the last name was pronounced as "buy" then. Go governor, not senator. Too much baggage.

No problem at all. It's really good pop, and all the singles off that album are super. "Cry Me A River" especially, "Rock Your Body" certainly.

Allowing the ordination of women or allowing priests to marry would address one of the massive problems facing the Catholic church now: a tremendous shortage of priests. Whether you think that would water down the faith is a related question. As someone raised Catholic but unable to care about all the outdated minutiae, it seems to me that bolstering the priesthood is a greater priority.

But it's okay--they might not be biological cousins!

Yeah, look at that. 26 states and DC, according to the CNN article for this story. I knew there were some allowances, but didn't know that many states had them. Nothing to do with gay marriage at all. The lobster quote's my favorite.

You really want out of fast-food.

World Leaders: A bunch of lying douche bags?
Edwin MacPhisto replied to cbacon's topic in Current Events
I don't think RobotJerk claims to hate you "simply because [he] disagrees with [you]." Were I to take a guess, it'd be because he sees you as willfully ignorant, self-aggrandizing, blindly faithful, and unable to either compromise or accept mistakes, something along those lines. Whether or not you agree with that assessment ($10 bucks says you don't), it's a far more substantial reason to hate. As a representative of qualities he dislikes, it would make sense for the dislike to extend to you as well. Hate doesn't have to be bad, as long as you don't act out on it or let it get in the way of your integrity. When restrained, it helps us define and evaluate our beliefs in a focused way. -

Let's say you had a Klansman at a school. You wouldn't ask questions? -=Mike The abstract notion of hating people you don't know =/= the specific, focused, practiced racial hatred of a Klansman. That a person is capable of hating someone they do not physically know (especially when he is at least familiar with the avatar that said person perpetuates online) in no way characterizes how he is likely to interact with school children. -

I would, but that's relevant to the subject being taught. Unless RobotJerk is teaching Life Management Skills, hating other people is incidental to the material taught. -

But he meets the children. It only works halfway at best. -
Not much of a diet guy, but on light salad dressings: oil and vinegar is good, but my favorite is just a few splashes of white vinegar with minced-up garlic and basil. Never underestimate the spice rack as a way to rather harmlessly kick up a salad or a chicken cutlet. If you have access to a gas grill, a diet is ridiculously easy, because once you start grilling chicken cutlets with light italian dressing and asparagus rubbed down in garlic, you're gonna be a happy man.

The question dodge is the lamest internet discussion move of all-time. Why don't we make this into an actual, y'know, thread about something? -
Oh, shit, that was brilliant. Oh, and that other guy coming back was kinda cool too.

I get smaller bottles of The Glenlivet from time to time. 12-year for general purposes, though a friend of mine has a bottle of 18-year a few of us have been working on for the last few months. And no, there's nothing wrong with a little amaretto in cheap scotch. Just use Disarrono so it looks classy. I like scotch, but for overall personal preferences, you can give me a fifth of Tanqueray most days over most anything.

Show Me a Match You're Inordinately Proud Of.
Edwin MacPhisto replied to Ace309's topic in Community/General
That really is yours, though. Let's be honest, it was closer to 2700 words, I think. Though I will take credit for my cinematic writer-nerd editing style at the end, which was probably better work than the actual punch-kick sequences I contributed to the meat. Favorite collabo matches are, unsurprisingly, that match, and Grand Slam's retirement match. And those are my two favorite matches involving the Edwin character at all, I think. -
Two safeties I thought would be gone: Junior Rosegreen, and Ernest Shazor, who as mentioned earlier has got to be the most surprising non-pick. NC State's T.A. McClendon is up there too, though his history of injuries really set him back. I imagine all of them, along with the likes of White and some other "big names," will make it in the free agent spot. Myself, I'm thrilled to see Andrew Hoffman and Pat Estes go from UVA, because I honestly didn't expect them to go. Nice guys both. So with 7 guys taken, Al Groh's proven that he can train attractive pro prospects...now let's try to, y'know, lose less than 4 games a year.
-
Before UVA got a marching band this year, we used to bring in outside bands from Hampton and the like. My favorite was the Virginia State Trojan Explosion, which is one of the best names I've ever seen for anything.

Non-Bias Attack: A gang of up to 30 black teens

That should really be in capital letters for maximum effect, I think.
