Missed 4 tip-ins! Now they're running out of time.
-
I am a bit surprised at all the charging calls when they've gone unnoticed most of the game. And christ, there's Downey on the run to make it 4.
-
With Paul out and 6 to make up, I'm thinking, after all this, we're heading towards an anti-climax.
-
Give it up for Eric Williams. He's been incredible this entire game, and that block to send it into double OT was un-sane.
-
Chris Paul is a madman. What a fantastic game. Give me another OT!
-
TIE! And Wake gets the time-out with about a second to go.
-
I'll be pissed if I lose Wake, but it'll make the road that much easier for GT presuming a win against Louisville. And it'll fuck up the brackets of all my other ACC-crazy friends.
-
Wake/WVU is getting down to the wire, and WVU is finally getting it done inside. 1-point game at 2 minutes to go... UK seems to have gotten away from Cincy in the final minute. So long, Bearcats.

Hey kids. I've been out and about all weekend. Right now I'm standing in kinda trouble, but kinda good. Basically, I've lost 6 Sweet 16 teams, but only one Elite 8. The good thing is that everyone else in my bracket here at school (there are about 20 of us) is in worse shape. One poor girl had Kansas beating Syracuse in the Final Four, and Kansas over Gonzaga in the championship. Ouch.

Making me all nostalgic. I'm really glad to see someone actually doing this; we've talked about it for so long and gathered all the material for years, but never really had a great place of our own to put it. Kudos, Mike.

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread
Edwin MacPhisto replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Brandon Truitt
Wow, I haven't been in this thread forever. I miss it. Anyway, Joss news. Not sure if it's been posted yet, but hey: he's writing and directing Wonder Woman. -
For Bowie, it'll probably always be Ziggy Stardust. I think it's far and away the most consistent of his glam-era stuff, and better than Station to Station and Low by a step as well. As I've said on many occasions, full-album Bowie often exhausts me, but Ziggy is the one disc I'm pretty much always ready to hear. Greatest variety of songwriting, greatest hooks, and bookended by my two favorite Bowie end-of-the-world ballads (and there are quite a few in the overall catalog): "Five Years" and "Rock n' Roll Suicide."

I actually have the Jackets and the Illini both making it to the Final Four. Sorry about the inevitable result though, Dub Cee. Go Vermont.

This makes the news about Scott Peterson a little easier to take.

Since he's issued apologies, he certainly won't be fired, so don't sweat it. Additionally, these professors aren't deciding that "some truth doesn't need to be investigated." That's an awfully big inference to make in a no-confidence vote where a significant minority voted against the no-confidence statement (eyeballing it looks to be about 45% on the first resolution, 35% on the second), and an even bigger inference to make about the universal academic community.

This is not about music yet, so I'm going to say that I picked up a used copy of De La Soul's 3 Feet High and Rising last week. One of the better $8 spent in recent memory, especially since it was the remaster with the bonus disc of 12" mixes. I've also been listening to the M.I.A./Diplo mixtape thing, Piracy Funds Terrorism, which is pretty fun for its blatant use of incredibly recognizable rap samples.
-
Ultimately this really won't matter, because Summers likely won't be fired. Perhaps he'll issue an apology and state that he's disappointed his comments were construed as they were. Those considering a no-confidence vote at a single university(faculty senates don't get to make these decisions anyway) to be the downfall of all discourse in academia are blowing this way out of proportion.

The best one of those will always be in the J. Geils' Band "Centerfold" video. Milk drum.
-
Ditto, though I really wanted to answer "bear essentials" for the one about the camping trip. Hardy har har.

I don't exactly think busting out the ol' "Jokey McJokerton" is really going to win any new devotees in an evaluation of humor. This was the only one I liked, because I pictured slide rules.

Yeah, I just dislike Duke considerably and am probably letting that cloud my call. The Albuquerque region really is rough. I'm finding myself capable of making Sweet Sixteen arguments and beyond for just about every one of the top 9 seeds except Texas Tech. I also wish I'd had a chance to see more Washington games to see if they're good or massively overrated at #1, because right now Pacific or Pitt are looking mighty tasty.
-
I've got them both in the 8 and I agree that OSU has a fighting chance if they get that matchup. Still, I haven't seen any team as consistently strong and dominating as the Illini this year. Like I said, I get uneasy picking 1 and 2 seeds for the round of 8, but in the Chicago regional it feels like clearly the most likely scenario.
-
Done both, though a while back. The book has a hazy sadness about it (the "fog" permeates the mood of the story's telling as well as the plot), while the movie has a frantic energy, largely on account of Nicholson.

I have a feeling (hope?) Paul's going to be all right. Generally when someone crucial gets whacked, the actual death hits just before the episode is over. Either way, it's a testament to how well this show is churning along this year, especially in the recent episodes. The McClennan-Forster stuff and the NOBLE MUSLIM GUYS YEAH are both a bit overwrought (still better than Yusef getting beaten to death on the cheese-o-meter), but the fact that we're all caring whether or not Paul Raines, who came in as an absolute whiny-ass caricature, lives or dies, is pretty cool.
