My cock is so big.

Great, sly ending. 24 doesn't do that enough; maybe that's why this was so charming. Great to see them get the two best actors on this season--Sutherland and Aghdashloo--in some scenes together. I really like the way everything is playing out at this point. The reactors are going to go or be stopped in 2 hours, it seems. We've got our nuclear bomb/Teri and Kim kidnapped. What's next?

Speaking of books, I picked up RZA's The Wu-Tang Manual today. Best $16 I've spent in a while; he goes into the group's history, gives a little explanation of their philosophies, breaks down lyrics for 9 key songs, and talks about the business and production ethic of the Clan. Really fun book for anyone who likes Enter the Wu-Tang.

Top Three Most Played Albums in Recent Weeks
Edwin MacPhisto replied to Giuseppe Zangara's topic in Music
1. Loveless 2. Aquemini 3. Candlebox -
Not that awful a sin. I feel the same way a lot of the time, and the American Poetry course I'm taking now isn't helping a lot. But The Waste Land is worth noting because it's that one poem I do always like. It's a 20 minute, so worthwhile in my estimation.

I was gonna answer about Tom Waits, but it is Ask Incandenza. What do you think of T.S. Eliot, especially The Waste Land? I picked up a folio edition of it this week with all sorts of scribblings and notes, and I'm enjoying plying through it again.

It's really not that different from what many male rappers do. And fugliness aside, she probably is the best female rapper around right now, but the competition isn't so stiff. She also gots a phenomenal amount of help from having Timbaland on speed-dial anytime she needs a backing track. Speaking of Timbaland, I listened to Aaliyah's "Try Again" today for the first time in a long time. Jesus christ that's a perfect pop song.

New enough, I guess. First proper album in 2002 counts. They do fit into the post-punk vibe going around of late, but I also think they do it better than pretty much anyone else current. I've got my tickets to see team well-dressed on March 25. Not sure who's opening yet on that part of the tour, but they can't possibly be more uninteresting than Calla, who opened when I saw them in December '02. Yikes.

Because of King, my balls hurt.

Rockin' the house, spring 2000 Kiss FM style.
Edwin MacPhisto replied to The Czech Republic's topic in Music
Vast overstatement. Singles are phenomenal and "What's the Difference" and "The Watcher" pad out a really good first half, but I can take it or leave it after "The Next Episode." The production remains good to great throughout but the fill-in rappers leave a lot to be desired. Anything that has Hitman on 8 tracks isn't close to flawless. -
$10 for the 2-disc Pavement reissue, $8 for the Dolls. Good day.

Green Day's about as good as a mainstream pop rock act gets these days. I'm not about to go buy the album, but they write good, straightforward pop songs (with the exception of "American Idiot," which was awful). Warning was just overflowing with hooks.

Duke does, because Coach K has always thrown shit-fits throughout his career about it and the refs eventually started to give in. I'm shocked, because Virginia basketball won two in a row. Admittedly those were over NC State and FSU, not exactly glorious wins, but jeez, nice to finally get a few ACC victories.

I like them very much, but Liquid Swords has some intangibles going on. I occasionally get a little tired of the Ghostface/Raekwon/Cappadonna team-ups on the other albums, even though they really are awesome.

Hey, that's really good. Might be my favorite Wu-Tang solo album.

That's vintage Ripper. Probably the finest item in his corpus of butts.

Speaking of Andrew W.K., though, I'm trying to go see him for the third time next week. -

Hi. -
The music folder lacks a subtitle, which is funny considering "Don't stop believin" is out there in the ether.

Matt Young hurt my feelings
Edwin MacPhisto replied to Modern Man's Hustle's topic in No Holds Barred
I liked Matt better when he was fucking 14 year-olds, which I'd forgotten he was until I looked at his sig and realized it was, in fact, I who had commended him for it. Those machinations! -
Funny shit from the geek convention.

"Saving throw against homosexuality" is probably the best for its combination of vitriol and self-deprecation. -
I was brought up with two spaces, but whenever I write an actual article or something that's going to be published, I go through and do Find--Replace from two spaces to one. Copy editors appreciate it bigtime, apparently.

The videotape I saw of Stand By Me was somewhat messed up, so I saw it in black and white. Looked really good, actually, and I always thought that's how it was until a few years ago.

Yeah, Edgar is throwin' some serious gang signs. Good episode tonight; wiry, tense, lots of clever play on all sides.

Coach K gets restraining order against Dick Vitale
Edwin MacPhisto replied to therealworldschampion's topic in Sports
Vitale lived in the same neighborhood as me for a few years. Bald motherfucka would just stand around in his driveway looking confused.
