So I've got an important question: what do you all find are the best ways of making CJ look like Mr. T? The Mohawk/Beard haircut and the Cuban chain are obvious, but I've just gotten into the San Fierro missions and I still can't find quite the right shirt. The denim jacket at Zip is pretty good, but nothing's quite enough like the classic denim vest. He may have to be a shirtless T.

I give Wake a little more credit than the 1-7 in-conference record because they keep it close. Most years they pull out 3 or 4 surprising wins; this year they only managed one. Still, pretty damn unimpressive. Also, Marcus Vick coming back is no big shake for VT. He's nowhere near his brother's level or even Bryan Randall's. His suspension was the best thing to happen to that team this year. The Coastal division should be a three-way race between the two Virginia schools and Miami. My Cavaliers' fortunes in that race will rest on three key factors: how many of the NFL-ready juniors return, whether or not Marques Hagans can get better looks downfield, and whether or not we can return to getting a heavy pass rush out of the 3-4 rather than playing that damned soft zone that gives up easy 8-10 yard passes. Overall, VT does have a bit of a schedule edge since they're the only one of those three teams that doesn't have to play Florida State in the regular season.

I don't like BC's chances much either, considering that this year's squad got whacked by Wake, one of the ACC's non-glamour teams. I do think BC will make a bowl next year, but they'll probably be fortunate to place 5th or 6th in the conference. The ACC is going to be incredibly rough, especially for everyone in the Coastal division (Miami, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Duke, North Carolina). I don't see FSU having too much trouble at least getting to the championship game in the weaker Atlantic division, but we'll likely see another year where the champ is a 2-loss team heading to the Sugar Bowl. The biggest question marks are going to be whether or not Maryland and NC State will be back on track next season.

2005 Conference Realignments Lots of shifting in the mid-major conferences. C-USA loses Army to the Independents and TCU to the Mountain West, but reloads (sorta) with Marshall and Central Florida from the MAC and four WAC teams, the most notable of which is UTEP. C-USA is also splitting into 2 divisions and setting up a championship game. The WAC then takes a handful of shitty teams from the Sun Belt to replace the shitty teams they lost, and the Sun Belt adds the new D-IA teams, Florida Atlantic and Florida International. Oo, and the ACC championship game starts next year too. I'm tingly already.

If you want a laugh, go read the original Orange Bowl Thread. Looking at how last night's game turned out, everything in there is gold. Fun fact: Kotz appears to be the only one who called for anything coming close to a blowout.

INCANDENZA AND AGENT OF OBLIVION MEET
Edwin MacPhisto replied to Giuseppe Zangara's topic in No Holds Barred
Whoa, Sanibel. Motherfucker was 40 miles away. I am fortunate to have survived the maelstrom of the Mighty Thor. -
The fact that the drinks section lacks imported beer and the club section lacks London or Bristol makes this one an empty set for me.

Why would you ask to be banned and then decide to come back 3 hours later? Weird. I started watching the game intently, but after the second quarter started to unfold, it became background while a handful of friends and I played poker. An absolute shit-kicking, the likes of which even exceeds Georgia over LSU and Arizona State over Iowa in terms of big-name teams taking a brutal loss this season. On one hand, Auburn's got to be pissed because they certainly couldn't have done any worse than Oklahoma; on the other hand, at least they weren't the ones getting embarrassed by some ruthless motherfuckers.

Oh, I should have been clearer. I meant on post-game stuff and not on here. These boys know the score. I suppose it's bad form to not give credit to Brown in the media.
-
Why is everyone giving Mack Brown so much credit for this one? Great game and Texas played wonderfully, but I feel like the most credit you can give him is for telling Young to run often today. Several of his big runs were on otherwise busted plays, and he made them happen with help from his offensive line. Brown got his team there and made some decent calls, but this was the Vince Young show whenever anything started to go wrong.

Vern, you sonofabitch. Congrats. I'll lord my regular season record over the rest of you chumps for a while to get over this soul-crushing loss. This was fun all year. Huzzah.

I hope it was Chief's bathroom. And Smirnoff Ice is awful. Alcoholic sugar water.

Jesus. You really are the worst poster here. (Not you, DCMaximo.) The bands you listed are some of the worst recording right now; it's infantile, puerile stuff with basic lyrics, basic instrumentation, and little genuine passion. It's music made for a specific demographic, which is generally a bad call. The only bright mark for what gets called "emo' today is that I've heard that a bunch of the bands put on good live shows. One example is Vendetta Red, who were wonderfully spunky live, but whining simps on record.

Great game so far. Too bad about not getting a Pac 10 team, but Texas is filling the void nicely, playing to beating A&M form rather than struggling with Kansas form.

Here comes a 37-yard extra point!

Happy birthday, Agent of Oblivion.

Happy birthday. I hope you actually did get your dick sucked. -
Jesus. I wake up and it's 28-0 Tennessee? I'm going to need Michigan to come up big to stay alive in this contest.

I follow college football pretty closely. My hipster veneer was never there to start. Still dislike Van Halen, though.

I saw The Coat reading a thread about college football earlier today. His hipster veneer is peeled away!

I won't take Woyzeck, because while it's interesting, it's still too caught up in the trappings of the 19th century melodrama and well-made play. Since Shakespeare, especially in the modern period, there have been many playwrights you can argue are far superior. In terms of staging he was fairly conventional, so of course someone like Pirandello or even Tony Kushner is going to have a leg up on the actual stage composition and the fusion of visual and movement with the text. He remains great, though.

The best thread this year has been the Comments Which Don't Warrant A Thread topic in the music folder. It's all the people whose opinions I sometimes value opining about things that are interesting. Our egos run free.
-
You're kidding. How old are you and how much Shakespeare have you read? The man was a master of character, of fusing pathos and comedy, and of uncovering the darkest parts of humanity. The arc of modern drama and literature goes through Shakespeare almost universally, and is far better for it. I'll slam you in Compton and blast you in Miami if you think you can contend otherwise.
