Kamaal the Abstract, which he decide not to release. Bootlegs are floating around out there, though. I, sadly, haven't heard a thing off of it, but it's one of those apocryphal albums that everyone who has heard it (or claims to have heard it) says is wonderful.

that explains the rampant idolizing of blind melon and drowning pool today, doesn't it. Well, I had to come up with some kind of rationale... And both of those bands you mentioned were one-hit wonders, so I'm not sure they really help that argument much. I hadn't heard of Jeff Buckley until AFTER he died, then all of a sudden I'm hearing about how great he was, same with Elliot Smith although not to the same degree because Smith at least was well-respected and acknowledged. Well, considering that you would have only been eleven when Grace came out, I'm not really surprised on Buckley. I hadn't really heard of him until someone slipped "Hallelujah" onto a mix disc for me my last year of high school. As for Elliott Smith: he played at the freakin' Academy Awards in 1998, and Either/Or and X/O were super-popular among indie kids when they came out. There might be a few people who only really got into him post-death, but he'd had a steady base of fans for five or six years.

The person who wins this may, in their greatest time of suffering, as their life falls apart before their eyes, accidentally think in a moment of despair, "Well, it's not that bad. People on TheSmartmarks.com think I'm cool." Ouch.

I'm sorry for anyone who gets a vote.

College football fan fiction. Yeeeah.

He is fantastic. Live at the Harlem Square Club is the one to grab if you want him at his best - gravelly, clever, hot hot heated. The new compilations that came out a year or two ago are pretty great too, for some straight-up late 50s/early 60s pop perfection.

The original War of the Worlds movie is pretty great. Disintegration rays that look like shower heads'll always have a little place in my heart.

I wish that I seen Lil Jon on Rap City, and Tigger got him in the booth to bust a freestyle which I've been told that it consist of Lil Jon saying: OK, YEAH. His verse on "Lovers and Friends" was really funny as hell. SHAWTY!!! I love the "booth" on Rap City, since it's basically a basement bathroom with black lights. And I've been trying to find a copy of "Lovers and Friends" for a couple of weeks now - it's soaring up the Billboard charts and I've yet to hear it. Hmm. Also, I just saw Razorlight and Zutons videos back to back on MTV-U. Thanks for nothing, England.

How does that compare to Young Liars? Not quite as consistent, but tracks 1-6 are the EP's equal. The last three songs are average, but the rest is wonderful. "Dreams" and "Poppy" are my favorites of late - I saw them open for the Pixies on Wednesday, and both of those songs were pretty unreal in their live arrangements.
-
By the way, "Debaser" was probably the hugest song of the night, and everything I could have hoped it would be. Joey Santiago killed the guitar part underneath the second verse, which is one of my top-10 moments in music, probably. I'm probably going to buy the live CD of the concert, even though it's $25.

I'm not sure if you're being earnest, but that's my top choice. #2 Tom Waits, Real Gone #3 Interpol, Antics #4 The Streets, A Grand Don't Come For Free #5 TV on the Radio, Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes And I've yet to hear Thug Matrimony.

The show was fantastic. They took the stage at 9:15 and played non-stop, no chit-chat, for 90 minutes and 28 songs. Absolutely great - the music hall was full of 35 year-olds who looked like they were happy for the first time in years. Prince in the spring, the Cure in the summer, and the Pixies in the dying days of autumn. Better have something good lined up for the winter. The setlist, which was pretty fine. 13/15 tracks from Doolittle. Ed is Dead Gouge Away Cactus Bone Machine UMass River Euphrates Velouria I Bleed Mr. Grieves Monkey Gone to Heaven Caribou #13 Baby Dead Hey Debaser Tame Gigantic In Heaven Wave Of Mutilation (UK surf) Here Comes Your Man Nimrod's Son Vamos Where Is My Mind Encore: Isla De Encanta Something Against You Crackity Jones Broken Face

Police: Woman hit teens after golf ball struck car

My state's awesome. This ranks up there with the man who beat his wife with a baby alligator earlier this year. -
Wait, how'd I make that obvious fuck-up. My roommate was listening to the album and I think I zonked out. Song's still awful, though. BAD ENOUGH FOR THIS YEAR TOO!
-
How could I forget the worst song of the year on an otherwise good album: "It's True That We Love One Another," from the White Stripes' Elephant. I'd punch Holly Golightly in the cock if it worked that way.

Don't tease me so!

Five Guys. D.C./Northern Virginia chain. Greasy, huge, wonderful. If you only want one patty, you have to specifically say as much.

IDRM said it better, but: Lil' Jon took a lame-ass song with a great intro and spun into something ridiculously creative. Ozzy's not entirely lame in the Sabbath days (especially that first album), but once you get into the Blizzard of Ozz era, he fast becomes that. I don't even know hardcore Ozzy fans who actually try to defend "Crazy Train."
-
Pretty lame, as always. The best set of nominations are probably in Best Dance Recording:

Doing a google image search for "Amy Lee" gives you a whole lot of porn on pages 2 and 3.

I'd be more interested in Tennessee/A&M if Ainge was healthy. Rick Clausen bores me. I think it's one of the most even match-ups in the bowls nonetheless. Capitol One is going to be another close one.

I don't see anything to indicate that Chance Mock will take a single snap in this game unless it turns into a blowout and he gets some garbage time in the 4th. The only significant playing time he had this season was in the Missouri game, and he didn't do any better than Young in that one. The Texas QB controversy is long over.

See, this is probably in my top 5 or 10 songs of the year. One of the best club tracks I've heard in a long time. "Crazy Train" is incredibly lame, but Trick Daddy and Lil' Jon managed to take the 12 good seconds out of it and spin them into a great little thing. I'm just surprised no one thought to sample it sooner. The worst hip-hop song I've heard this year is probably Crime Mob's "Knuck If You Buck," though it almost saves itself with the asinine line about how Crime Mob tag teams "like Saddam Hussein, Hitler, and Osama bin Laden." The worst song overall is probably Toby Keith's "Stays in Mexico," which I hope none of you ever have to hear.
