Same thing I complained about re: Steelers/Giants. Is this "defenseless player" thing some new rule? I can't recall hearing it before.
-
Here they are, from CFN. Their early analysis is up, too.
-
Considering that Roethlisberger threw 4 interceptions and the Giants d-line knocked him down at least a dozen times, I think it's a pretty big stretch to say that they just handed the game to the Giants, unless you consider "opponent forces complete breakdowns in pass protection and the QB's choices" to be a minor thing. I'll give you the hilarious safety, though.

Kenny Phillips just got flagged with easily the worst personal foul call I've ever seen: a perfectly clean hit on Mewelde Moore, a textbook "make the guy drop the ball" lead with the shoulder...that was called "unnecessary roughness on a defenseless receiver"? It was a tremendous play by a safety. Roger Goodell's vagina league is in session.

Um, holy shit again. UVA 24, GT 17, and Virginia is going to be first in the Coastal division unless VT's third-stringer can mount a big comeback. You've gotta be kidding me.
-
Pretty funny that Demps and Rainey each got one. UF finally gets the running backs they've been looking for forever, and then those guys go out and block punts, too.

Minnesota has the worst all-white road uniforms I've seen in a while. They look like pajamas.

I wish I were allowed to post animated .gifs of people jerking off and coming all over themselves in this folder. EDIT: As much as Nightwing arouses me, that was for Marvin, of course.

Are you ready for some STECKERRRR

I think I actually read the Elliott Smith news on Pitchfork, when I was checking to see if they had any good reviews that day, before my first class. I recall that a few days later I made a pretty basic "kitchen knife: 1, Elliott Smith: 0" joke, which went over pretty well for how soon it was.
-
Haven't seen The Royal Tenenbaums? That's where everyone I know who hasn't heard any Elliott Smith actually has heard Elliott Smith. "I'm going to kill myself tomorrow."

Between this and the Tony Womo article, this is already my favorite NFL thread of the year. And we haven't even had games yet!

iggy, my greatest nemesis! Whose cuisine will reign supreme? THURSDAY Auburn SATURDAY Kansas Wisconsin Miami North Carolina Cincinnati Georgia Michigan State Florida State Texas Iowa State Ohio State Oregon USC Tiebreak #1: How many total points will be scored in the Oklahoma State/Texas game? I think it'd be hilarious if there just weren't a part 2.

It's the leverage she needed. Shane and Mara confirming everything she suspected and putting her in that position was exactly what she needed to free herself from Vic. I think one of the things this season has tragically illuminated about Vic is that, while he professes tremendous love for his kids and rails on anyone who lets them down for a second, he's incapable of really caring for them properly (witness getting too rough with Cassidy, how obvious it is to someone like Dani that Vic can't be in her kid's life). He's a destructive, unstoppable force, even towards the things he thinks are important. Interesting chain of people being trapped this season: Corrine by Vic, Shane by Vic/Ronnie and the Armenians, Vic by the Armenians and Pezuela, the ICE investigator by Pezuela, etc. Everyone's under someone's thumb and thrashing around to get free.

Oh, is this weekend the Breeders Cup? I guess that's important for, like, 8 people and gambling addicts.
-
Okay, this is just retarded. I don't see any games scheduled for either ESPN or ESPN2 at 3:30. Is there some pressing NASCAR or bass fishing event that overrides an actual meaningful college football game? I presume ESPN2 is going to be the Big Ten game reverse mirror thing again, but really? Looks like a weekend where they really are just trying to sell Gameplan. I'll probably be at a bar to watch UVA/GT anyway, but whatta pain in the ass for anyone who doesn't feel like eating nachos all day to watch some football.

This is the plot of a horrible straight-to-DVD sex comedy waiting to happen.

I generally agree, but not when you're running for the highest or second-highest office in the country. Your life should be about as open as possible in that scenario. I don't give a shit if her kid is hers or whatever, but I'd definitely like to know if Palin/Biden/Obama/McCain have any sort of crippling diseases lurking around in their bodies.

Whoa, Lizzy Caplan. This show really knows how to keep the "me" demographic watching.
-
Fucking yuck. I can't believe #1 vs. #6 is freaking regional coverage.
-
That's my favorite gaffe yet.

The whole sequence with Two-Man's interrogation and Shane's escape was amazing, and hilarious. What a great job of reminding the viewers--who've gotten more than used to all this crazy manipulation and scheming--what all this craziness can look like to people like Dutch and the rest of the Barn, who have no idea what the hell is going on.

I understand why people are saying his voice sounds shot, because it kinda does. He still has a bit of the Axl squawk everyone loves (you know, "child of mi-ee-ee-i-ee-iiiiine"), but it's overdubbed with a lesser version of his Intense Axl delivery. Would have given a slightly more even split between the two vocal tracks myself, considering that this is supposed to be the big comeback track that makes people say "holy shit, GNR! Yes!"

I can't remember which came first, but I think it was either Licensed to Ill or Best of the Sugarhill Gang.
