I use that one as often as possible.

Ben Berrnanke doesn't want you to take a raise this year*
Edwin MacPhisto replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in Current Events
No, remember. Marvin doesn't want to use this money he accepted, so he's putting it wherever gives him the least return in a symbolic gesture that's actually flawed in several ways. Marv: I'll buy your stimulus payment off you. -

Upon reflection, I feel that Oingo Boingo's "Not My Slave" should have been a monstrous power-pop hit. All it needed was a montage involving Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, or Andrew McCarthy, and it would have been earth-dominating.

I think it just scales. ABC, ESPN, and Fox use 720p. I've never noticed any real visual difference between the two. Pretty much any TV you buy will be completely fine for HD television programming.
-
Isn't 540p just the short-lived EDTV? I doubt you'll ever use it or see it.

Ort-man won the starting job. I'm a little disappointed by this, because it probably decreases the chances we'll have to see him looking like a bloated, snot-leaking lout on the sidelines.

There's a pleasant surprise. I haven't been following music and album timelines much lately and had no idea they had something else in the works for so soon. Still my favorite album of that year.

I noticed this when I was checking out the wall of sets at Circuit City a month ago, so I'd say it's a pretty standard thing. Just go to a place like that and see for yourself if you care about it or if it'll affect your setup. For me, it was a dealbreaker.

Old and available for cheap? ZINGER!

I like the way WhatIfSports distributes the minutes among players. If you look at some of the Team USA box scores, these provide a very similar distribution to how the real-life all-everything team is breaking up its floor time.

My biggest problem with DLP is the viewing angle. If your head is above or below the center (standing and playing a Wii game, or lying on the floor, for example) you'll get color distortion. If you're off to the side, you'll get even more, to the point that entire images can take on something approaching a photo-negative effect. I think most DLPs advertise about a 140 degree viewing angle, while LCDs and plasmas are in the 175-178 degree range. If you're in a smaller room or have your setup arranged so you're always looking at the screen head on, DLP can be a good bargain for some extra size. If you have a large space or need to be able to see the screen from a lot of angles, you probably want to stick with a flat panel.

I'd like to see "I'm On Fire" with Brett Favre actually on fire.

It's okay. After a brief breakdown, it builds like it's going to explode into something cool, but it's just the chorus again. It would be one of the more unremarkable tracks were it off either of their first two albums.

Dunkin Donuts are shitty except for the particularly cakey ones, like the toasted coconut or old-fashioned. KK krushes them on every other front. There was a Krispy Kreme in Charlottesville my first two years in college, and it closed. I don't know how that's possible--it's a college town, and you can't tell me that drunk college kids aren't psyched about donuts in the middle of the night or the morning after. I remember one night when my roommates and I bought two boxes at midnight, a gallon of milk, and lived like kings for the next 40 minutes. Maybe it just needed to be walking distance from the population center instead of a short drive.

In an amusing confluence of these items, I did the drums for "Epic" playing Rock Band last night, but refused to play the Wolfmother song when it was suggested.
-
Serious laughter the first time I saw that. Khaled is such a knob.
-
Catching up on the last few days: Wolfmother licks my balls, M.I.A.'s great, "Burnin' For You" is my favorite too, and I only kinda like that Hercules and Love Affair album. First track is the best, rest is a little monotonous for my tastes. There.

2008 movies to open with a PSA under $1,000

I saw trailers for The Signal and Midnight Meat Train before Aliens vs. Predator 2. And I guessed that Midnight Meat Train would be called Evil Meat Train before the title came up, and it was one of the better achievements of my 2007. -
There's a Fogo in DC and I love it. It's a bit overpriced for dinner, but $30 for lunch is awesome. Guys in puffy pants with holsters running around shoving an endless wave of meat onto my plate is pretty superb. I always eat way more than my stomach should conceivably hold when I churrascar. Every now and then you get a cut of meat that isn't terribly great, but it doesn't really matter since you'll be able to push it aside and grab something new in about 30 seconds.

At least he can get cheap prescription drugs.

Artest sounded like DMX in that article. Awesome.

Barack OBouma.

Neither will you, though, because what you want is likely unattainable. The insistence of many left-leaning individuals to expect perfection out of their candidates and refuse to vote for them if they don't meet that standard is baffling. From my perspective, a president with a (D) next to his name is much, much more likely to get me some of what I want and believe is best for the country. A president with an ® next to his name isn't going to get me any of it. Given that those are the only two choices that will generate actual results in something as grand in the presidential election, I will always take the solution that gives me the most, even if it's not a lot.

He may have been a reach, but appears less and less so if you look down the draft board and see where Fokai was placed, too. At #4, knowing you're not getting another player for 32 choices, I can definitely see picking a QB right off the bat. Considering that guys like Jeff Hostetler, Brad Johnson, and Trent Dilfer all have rings, I personally would have waited longer, though 8 more QBs did go off the board before Fokai got another pick and Manning surely would have been part of that list too. Now, the bigger question is if Manning's better than the other guys, and frankly I'd say that he's a fine choice for the first QB taken. There's a top tier of guys, but within that tier I'd say they're all fairly even. Again, probably not the one I would have grabbed, but since he's had just as many great seasons as most of the other big guns on there, it's a reasonable choice.
