Boy, did he get terrible. Fantastic early career, though.

I think Schnellenberger's is my favorite. Some notable ranks from him: 1. Ohio State 2. Kansas 3. Hawaii 10. Boise State 21. Florida

Would have liked it better had the subtitle been "for sucking."

Holy fuck, I was joking and almost called it! Yeah, you and the Football Outsiders. Congrats. lollerskates

That can't possibly make you happy. Now UCLA is going to go get someone good to coach them.

After looking through all the bowl matchups, I'm nominating the Motor City Bowl for the worst. 7-5 Purdue against 8-5 Central Michigan, the MAC champ. Not too offensive on face; it's a pretty standard "decent mid-major vs. crappy BCS team" game. Except that Purdue beat CMU 45-22 in September. I'm sure both team's fanbases will be thrilled to renew this 3-month rivalry in picturesque Detroit on the day after Christmas.

Following the loss to Virginia Tech yesterday, Boston College is falling all the way to the Champs Sports Bowl. The Chick Fil-A has chosen Clemson, and Virginia vs. Texas Tech was just confirmed for the Gator. Sorry, Matty Ice!

The Coaches' Poll is out, and the voters made the requisite adjustments to put LSU at #2. That'll probably get them to the title game, as expected. OU jumped to #3 while Georgia and Virginia Tech held at 4 and 5. Hawaii also got one first place vote. So, I'd guess we're looking at MNC - Ohio State vs. LSU Rose - USC vs. Illinois Sugar - Georgia vs. Hawaii Orange - Virginia Tech vs. West Virginia Fiesta - Oklahoma vs. Arizona State There's also the possibility that the Fiesta takes Kansas instead of ASU for an all Big XII Fiesta Bowl.

In ACC country, it's pretty much considered a lock. The championship committee meets this offseason to sort out a new deal. Despite its silly name, the Tire Bowl/Car Care Bowl in Charlotte has been a big success for the conference, pulling big attendance numbers all 5 years. The ACCCG would probably sell out every year there. LSU looks like a mess so far. Perriloux hasn't been able to/hasn't been allowed to throw anything more than a screen, Tennessee's running game is moving pretty strong, and Dorsey's side of the defense is weak again. Amazed they're only down 7-6 at the moment. Edit: Keiland Williams loses 14 on a horribly busted rush, Perriloux gets sacked, and then a delay of game. Third and 35 from the 4 for LSU. Disastrous.

Originally the ACC expected FSU and Miami to be in most of the championship games and thought Jacksonville would be a good pick, which hasn't panned out at all. The guys who run the events down there don't want the ACCCG anymore, as they're losing money on it. Expect it to be in Charlotte from here on out, which makes more sense for most of the conference. Instead, they're going to focus on getting more one-shot games, like FSU/Alabama this year. Obviously Georgia/Florida has been a huge success there, on account of being pretty equidistant between the two campuses.

I have no problems with that and would really hope that a song called "Alright, I Admit It...It Was A Whore House" could be good enough for a best song claim.

I wanna know what album that was so I can make a completely one-sided judgment of your musical tastes.

Just some plain ol' Lipton today. Our receptionist forgot to order all the good stuff after we ran out, so I'm not getting my requisite Awake black tea or Earl Grey fix. Probably for the best considering the snorting. Uh, sports.

Music has the same influence on lives and actions that films, books, TV, or any other media does: a nominal effect on preferences, appearances, mannerisms, and frames of reference. A culture or way of life develops music and other media out of its characteristics, not the other way around. I snorted tea at the angel wings picture.

Lame! Can I just change mine to Oklahoma so we have something to pay attention to the rest of the weekend? BORRRRRRRRRRING 9000.

I pretty much cheer for all the ACC teams not named Duke and Maryland in the ACC-Big Ten challenge, not like they usually need it. Outside of that though, get the hell out of Sean Singletary's way and buy me some cookies.

Being a UNC fan with NC State as your b-team is pretty weird. Not quite as weird as if you replaced NC State with Duke, but still pretty weird.

One of my friends ordered Dracula 3000 but got Dracula 2000 instead. After he let Amazon know, they sent the right one and let him keep both. Made for a fine "Night of 5000 Draculas" event.

None of the bowls have affiliations that would allow for that, though I could see a BCS bowl matching up some conference opponents if they didn't play during the year. It would be a pretty rare situation, though. The only way I could see it happen this year is if Kansas and Oklahoma played in the Fiesta bowl. It still wouldn't be terribly appealing to most people though, and I imagine they'd try anything else first unless their options were really limited.

Air Force, appropriately enough, will be playing in the Armed Forces Bowl.

Highlight of the day: a guy in my office (in the middle of D.C.!) saying "Sean Taylor got.....JACKED UP!"

Tough call. They're really very similar teams, with nearly identical strength of schedule ratings (46 vs. 48, I think), a loss to a pretty good 9-3 team (Illinois, South Florida), and wins over a bunch of average to good teams (Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Michigan State; Connecticut, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Mississippi State). Having seen a fair amount of each team's games this season, I think Ohio State is the better team, but I'd much rather watch Missouri/WVU. Neither will really feel like a true championship game given this season's glut of relatively even 1 and 2-loss teams.

I read The Road in three days. Great book. Color me a McCarthy fan.

I like them a bit more now after playing "When You Were Young" on Guitar Hero.

The discrepancies between US and Canadian and British or whatever previews always amuses me. Canada wants more Maya! America needs more Pasdar!
