From the other thread: I think it's pretty cool, actually. When has a band as successful and relevant as Radiohead done something like this? I'm a packaging fetishist too, but cutting out the middleman and distributing the album directly gets the music out more quickly and ultimately gives more money to the band than they'd get on a record label. Even with "name your price." Tons of people will take it for free, but I'll give them some cash for the effort. Also, I believe the download is the full album. The second disc is bonus tracks/b-sides type stuff.

I like "Blue Magic" so far, but the whole "I saw this movie and wanted to make a rap album" thing is kind of weird. Fingers crossed.

I just read about In Rainbows. Totally dope, Radiohead. As for 2007: Probably Panda Bear's Person Pitch, or maybe LCD Soundsystem's Sound of Silver. Person Pitch keeps rising in my estimation.

Can I just say how happily stunned I am that Virginia has managed to rattle off 4 straight wins after the season-opening debacle against Wyoming? I was expecting something along the lines of 3-9 year after that monstrosity, but the team's getting better week to week and Cedric Peerman's become a perfect every-down back for this style of play. GT smothering Clemson with a pillow this week makes me feel better too, as it suggests at least one of those 4 wins has good value to it.

Virginia Tech will probably be in the top 10 just by everyone ahead of them falling, which is pretty retarded.

My mom got a master's in library sciences from USF. I feel a tingle of pride. The game's going almost exactly like last year's upset in Morgantown. One of White/Slaton gets tweaked and isn't 100%, USF's defense brings lots of smartly placed pressure and keeps taking the ball away. I like it.

Definitely Maybe had some good singles. "Live Forever," "Supersonic." But Oasis is the definition of a band that merits no real effort on a listener's part.

On Wisconsin: they just don't look that great. I know, a win's a win, but in many ways they're not executing well. With the exception of the opener against Wazzu, Tyler Donovan's done just a shade above mediocre, and the lines haven't been as dominant as they probably should be. PJ Hill alone can carry Wisconsin against I-AA teams and Big Ten bottom feeders, but they're going to have to get more out of the rest of the team when they hit Penn State, Michigan, etc.

I just looked at Iggy's top 25 and it's eerily similar to the one I just drew up. The only major differences are that I have UCLA in the 25 spot instead of Tennessee, Boston College several slots higher, and less separation between the South Carolina/Georgia/Alabama trilogy. Still a mighty big crapshoot this early in the year, but I really like having a top 25 that includes Kentucky, South Florida, Rutgers, and Cincinnati, but lacks Michigan, Notre Dame, or Florida State.

It's a dramatic issue, not a logistics one. The whole "Nathan flies into the sky with Peter, sacrificing himself instead of the city" scenario was pretty hardcore. I don't mind, because I like the character, but falling out of politics and being a drunk doesn't have quite the same impact. Similarly, I love the character of Sylar, but it made a lot of sense for the incredibly highly powered villain bent on a city's destruction to be finished off. Also, I thought it was funny that the guy who killed Sulu did it by shoving him off a building. Best superpower ever.

You could pretty easily make an argument for half a dozen teams at number 1. No idea why you'd think USC isn't worthy. As for not running over weak teams, I think LSU--which holds a trouncing of Virginia Tech and a solid win over South Carolina to its name after 4 games--has that covered. At Nebraska's pretty nice too, obliterating Miami's good, etc. No reason for anyone to get too spun up over rankings this early anyway.

You haven't yet realized that's an absolute straw man argument, despite Ripper laying it out for you about 9 times? What they are completely and 100% "innocent" of is attempted murder, or being railroaded like they are, which is the part you don't seem to be getting or acknowledging. We've had extremely smart Bichons. Ours of 15 years, who died last summer, was highly trainable and pretty clever, and the new improved almost-not-a-puppy anymore Bichon seems even more on top of things. Except when he gives himself high fives in the hallway mirror.

What's the dichotomy between Kansas and K-State? Is one the "smart" Kansas school? Is one the party Kansas school? Or does everyone at both of them mostly just regret living in Kansas?

Yeah, oversight is a huge issue. It really doesn't help that most of them are actually extremely excited to be shooting and killing people. Getting $600-700/day is the main reason they're there, but the chance to light some people up is a very, very close second for way too many of them. Having worked with and observed far too many of these guys, I'd say that on the whole they're absolutely despicable and terrifyingly debased people.

Fire the cops or give them a year behind a desk for excessive force on an unarmed person, put him in jail for a few months and call it a story. Don't make this guy out to be some kind of persecuted hero of the people. Both sides were in the wrong, both sides should be punished and we should just move on with our lives. Jail time? He's not a persecuted hero, but the kid's on the ground surrounded by five cops begging not to be tasered, and they go ahead and do it. He's bulletproof, and a college kid at a college event isn't going to get anything more than probation and maybe a fine for this anyway.
