During exams of my second-to-last semester at school, some of my friends and I got drunk at 2 in the morning, put this on really loudly in somebody's apartment, and ran around spraying each other with fog machines. I think that's what I think of The Downward Spiral these days. On the rare occasions that I listen to NIN anymore, it's generally when something from Pretty Hate Machine comes up on iTunes. That stuff has a goofy enough veneer that it's still pretty fun.

I thought Claire said Lubbock, but that seems a bit far.

That's the one. Hadn't listened to it in a while. I air-drum to it like a mo'fucka.

"Groove is in the Heart" should play every time Dad Bauer comes on screen. I don't know why. It just should.

I voted Lucy the shepherd mix Most Valuable Puppy. The guy who comes in to call penalties and replace the water dish has the best job ever.

TAKE MY SHOES OFF AND I WILL THROOOOOOOOOW THEM IN THE LAAAAAKE

I still really wanna see Cam'ron's movie. The Status Ain't Hood write-up on that last year had me laughing to the point of pain.

I'm not going back to this abomination till there's fisting pictures on it.

Powers Boothe being on is fuckin' awesome, though. I wish he were Jack's dad, not that pussy-ass Farmer Hoggett.

Well, I guess I like the plot developments, but does everyone else agree that was one of the most surprisingly predictable episodes of 24 ever? Both of the big "twists" at the end, especially the one with Morris, were telegraphed really obviously. Could anyone not think it was Morris after the first 10 minutes of the episode? And I really, really, really want Jack away from CTU. Really.

I like Joy Division, but I love New Order. In addition to the ones Kreese cited: "Temptation," "Love Vigilantes," "The Perfect Kiss," "Ceremony," oh yeah. They're one of my favorite singles bands ever. It's also totally fascinating to cruise Youtube and find videos of them in various eras. 1984: 1993: "Regret" 2002: "Temptation"

I'm not sure how I'd feel if I were in my 40s and still making music like this. Probably disappointed in myself, but also very rich.

Just uttered by one of my roommates, presumably directed at his girlfriend and/or her posterior. I don't think he realized I was eating dinner in the living room, not too far outside his bedroom door. My bad. As he shared it with me, I share it with you.

Thoughts: 1) Hester's return was great. Vinatieri was down the dirt a ton this game, between that and the muffed XP. 2) Addai and Rhodes really made a big, great argument for the fact that you don't need to spend a lot on a runner in free agency. 3) I really liked Fumblepalooza '07, as well as the Colts' clock-killing death drive in the third quarter. It was a mediocre game all things considered, but I enjoyed its parts plenty. 4) I obviously thought the halftime show was pretty fuckin' rad. "All Along the Watchtower" and a mediocre Foo Fighters song somehow sounded great together with the rain and the purple guitar. 5) I watched the game with Bears fans, and the frustration every time the playcall was something other than "hand off to Jones" was palpable.

After watching some of the Puppy Bowl last night, I've decided that I want a small army of Samoyeds.

I probably should have given it a few more A's to express duration, but the hiss was definitely there, with kind of a gurgle towards what I can only presume was the grand finale. Roommate and girlfriend were having a bit of a tiff in the lobby of our apartment building yesterday. I can't wait for the makeup sex. -
Grizzly Bear put out a decent album this year (Yellow House) and were great when I saw them open for the Books. Pelican and Slint would both probably be awesome, especially the latter. I would love to see them play that album in sequence, because it'd probably be the most cathartic and soul-wrecking thing ever.

I have never made the effort. I found them very boring when I saw them at said free concert, and they just seem generally inconsequential and incapable of holding my interest. The cotton candy I got that day was way better than the show.

Just when it looks like Arizona's in the downward spiral to end all spirals, they beat the piss out of Washington. In other ass-beatings, Georgia Tech KOed Clemson pretty handily to drop them below .500 in the ACC. Looks like the back-to-back heartbreakers against Duke and UVA have cooked Clemson rather soundly. I wonder how hard they'd have to fall to miss the tournament after their monster start.

I saw Guster play a free show at the annual Springfest in college. They were lame. Other past luminaries of this event include Nickel Creek and Sister Hazel. Of course, the year I'm out of there they go and get Ben Folds, who I don't love, but is a massive step up.

Oh, that was awesome! Virginia beats #10 Duke in overtime on a last-second one-handed jumper from Sean Singletary. We're actually 6-2 in the ACC, which is totally unbelievable to me. Go fuckin' Hoos.

Never really thought of Brian Eno as a social lubricant, but I was at a party this weekend and the host put on Here Come The Warm Jets, which was great background and got everyone talking. I think the girls may have been into it all on account of the whole Velvet Goldmine thing.

I was kidding about the White Album. I kind of just wanted to see if I could make this thread explode more than it already had.
