Doin' it for the conference!

Awesome. Well, I guess I'll have to get one by the time this comes out. It's funny the things that'll make me buy a system.

Jarvis Moss gonna eat you.

I absolutely love the way Meyer has been using Tebow tonight, and all season really. He just runs him straight ahead 6-7 times for 2, 3, 5 yards, to the point that's what's expected of him. Ohio State knows he's thrown for several TDs this year--they know that's how Meyer does it--but it doesn't matter, cause Meyer just saves it up till it's deathblow time and has Tebow do the two-step fake and quick out for the TD. I'm tremendously impressed.

WOW. Urban Meyer got Jim Tressel to go for it on 4th and 1 in OSU territory in the first half. That's pretty much the least Tressel-like call I've ever seen Tressel make, and it came at a horrible time.

Off the top of my head, last year, actually, I think. 41-38. Terrible roughing the passer call on Silar there. Glad to OSU making more of a game of it; as someone without a rooting interest here, I'm all about a huge-scoring epic like last year.

I would think that the fact that you're on dialup is a bigger issue. I could download the games and save the downloads over sessions and resume them. It would suck because it would take forever but it would be better than nothing at all which is what I have now. And where I live, outside of satellite broadband (which I could use to download the games but would be a no go for playing actual games, not to mention the fact that its $100 a month for really low speeds) there isnt any other option and there wont be because Comcast has no intentions of serving my area and I live too far out for DSL. Where the hell in Maryland do you live, Marv? In a crackhouse in the darkest corners of PG County or something?

How does how a Viking lineman performs affect Seattle's run game? Oops, that got screwed up. I meant Walter Jones without Hutchinson around.
-
I didn't read that.

Johnny Marr should team up with Dave Gahan the next time either one of them is interested in doing a solo project, just to contain the disaster as best as possible. The MM song wasn't loading perfectly for me, but the clips I did get sounded like some of the zippier stuff on the last album, like "The View." The sunshine-and-pep thing throughout that album was fun, but doesn't really suit them as a long-term plan. And Isaac Brock keeps getting fatter and fatter.

Bears got a great draw with Seattle, much better for them than the hot n' cold Cowboys. The Cowboys had been stumbling, but they also had a load of talent at the skill positions that could have been threatening given the right circumstances and the motivation of a birth in the championship game. Seattle, by contrast, has been pretty predictably eh all year, with a run game that just never took off with Walter Jones having one of his lesser years without Hutchinson around and Alexander banged up all season. If Grossman can muster "not incompetent," the Bears should take this handily.

I don't give a shit about the Ravens, but it's pretty fascinating to me how short NFL coaching lifespans have become, and that Billick of all people--who's never struck me as a particularly great coach with the way the Ravens just faded under his watch during several seasons--is one of the longest-tenured.

Off the top of my head: OSU 31, Florida 21. Meyer comes up with a big elaborate gameplan that yields some success, but in the end Ohio State is just too balanced on both sides of the ball and pulls away in the second half.
-
What is that, the 5th false start? Jeez, their o-line is retarded. They've gone backwards on way too many drives.
-
How Runyon didn't get tossed for those two shots, I don't know. Should have been a pair of personals on him, at least.
-
It obviously would have been much bigger news were that the case. From stereogum, among about 30 other sites:

Damn. What a great pass. Talk about the perfect embodiment of Russell's unholy rocket arm.
-
I read about that in Stewart Mandel's blog a week or two ago. That the Tuscaloosa board has oversight on the Birmingham athletic program like that is just hilarious. Speaking of LSU, I'm going to be really interested to see what Les Miles does with the team next season now that the few champs-as-freshmen seniors and Russell will be gone. Especially if Jimbo Fisher goes too.
-
That wasn't Brandon Flowers of the Killers who also got shot, btw. Regrettably.
-
Especially rough considering that the LSU boosters offered him almost as much money to just stay there, if I recall.

Saban's on his way back to the SEC after all: Saban leaves Dolphins for Alabama Official contract info not all out yet, but some papers in Florida are reporting around $3.7 million a year for 8 years. Enjoy your 3 years before he tries to go back to the pros, guys!

Not really, Marv. Regardless of whatever choices you make to give each team an equal playing field, whether it's 5 outs or 3 runners or nothing at all, baseball's extra innings are about as close a comparison to college OT as you're going to find. Every college OT is an inning. I don't mind NFL overtime, but I'd like to see them try a season with something like college. Knowing NFL coaches, we'd probably get whatever the most conservative playcalling possible would be to put someone in reasonable field goal range regardless of where the teams started off.

Yeah, Wake just got served. I might not watch the second half, just because I'm totally footballed out after last night.

Really good year. Finished my M.A. and was actually proud of my final product, got a good-paying job and a nice place to live, saw a bunch of great concerts, and charmed a healthy handful of women with my masculine wiles. Maybe most importantly, this was the year I really learned how to cook. Happiness is just a skillet away.

Yeah, you swept New Year's Day. That was some pretty clutch picking there. Save me, o Demon Deacons.
