My three-bedroom apartment in Arlington is right at $3000, which includes all the utilities. It's big and very nice, but think about that: $3000 for northern Virginia! And that's actually reasonable for Arlington. Thank god that salaries are at least somewhat commensurate with the ridiculous rents. I guess I pay extra because the place is only 5 years old and literally 50 feet from a Metro station, but if I stay in this area I may have to move further out in the 'burbs just out of principle. And to get a puppy.

The esteemed Catamounts. Very odd to see a I-AA game late in the season. I wonder if that was just a quick plug-in when the 12-game season was approved.

I find it terribly amusing that Lady Sovereign was the darling of indie music websites for a good two years or so. Then her album came out and they all said oh god, oh god, what have we done, and rightly so. She isn't even pretty!

It varies. I have friends who live in a nice part of Greenpoint, and their cozy 2-bedroom (by cozy I mean "nicely built but small with a kitchenette") goes for $1700, I think. The neighborhoods are all pretty different. Brooklyn would be interesting for you, though I bet you'd spend most of your waking life in Manhattan.

Fuckin' a: Virginia breaks in the brand new $130 million John Paul Jones arena with a monster upset over Arizona. I'm so glad Sean Singletary decided to stick around. Maybe this year's basketball season will make up for football blowing.

I played a little bit of the first one at a friend's this weekend and was enamored. For those who've played both, should I get the first one or just skip straight to #2?

For finding roommates in a place you don't know, especially if it's even a minor metropolitan area, I'd suggest craigslist. That's what I used--found maybe 5-6 listings looking for roommates to jump on an already-existing lease, then just visited with all of them and figured out which was the best deal with the best people. I ended up in a really nice and affordable (relatively--northern Virginia is outlandishly expensive) 3-bedroom with two decent guys who mostly keep to themselves. Always better to have that than completely intrusive or dependent people.

I've been trying to see this all week, but today marks the third time that my friends have gotten lost on their way to the theater, gone to the wrong theater, etc. These are three completely different groups of people that have failed every time. I need some less retarded friends.

That's awesome. WKU has one of the best mascot in all of sports; the Big Red Hilltopper is so weird and badass that it's the only I-AA mascot in all those Capitol One commercials: As for stripping conferences of their BCS bids...nah. Why? The whole reason for being in the BCS is money, the $14 million that the conference gets for playing in one of the games. If you start threatening conferences by refusing to guarantee that money, athletic departments will mutiny and the BCS will fold.

Poor cabbageboy. From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. Great game last night. As someone without a rooting interest in any of this Big East stuff, it was way cool to see Rutgers pull it off. I can't help but think that, somehow, we're going to end up with Texas/Ohio State again.
