The proper response to this thread is "oh no....bad boiiiiiiiiii!," and nothing else will do.

I really don't think it seems silly. The point is that it's ghastly, fucked up, and beyond all human conception, an absolute gamechanger so incomprehensible that it makes all the other issues and conflicts of the day disappear. Anything more realistic is likely to undermine that. What I've read as the likely new ending is so much more typical and blase.

    The College Football Thread 11/19 - 11/23

Yeah, but Brown is only 57 and one of the top coaches in college football. Is Muschamp really going to wait around for 5 or 6 years until Brown decides to go somewhere else, if then?

I hate that stuff. Why not just say "he's a badass defensive coordinator so we're going to pay him a shit ton of money to keep doing the job"? Does the "ooooohhh he's our head coach in waiting" ploy really deter schools like Clemson or Tennessee from pursuing him? I mean, if there's an actual contract where "you will be the next head coach of the University of Texas Football Longhorns" is written out, so be it, but that seems like an awful silly assurance to take when Mack Brown is currently fielding his best team since the national championship and keeping the team a perennial power.

    The College Football Thread 11/19 - 11/23

Whole Article This is all official now. Not sure what the worry would be; Fox's BCS coverage has consistently been subpar, since the guys broadcasting generally haven't been following the college season all year the way ESPN's usual crew would. I'd much rather have Herbstreit/Musberger doing these than whomever Fox drags out every January.

I need to vent about Sarah Palin.

It's just the kind of thing that old people or uneducated housewives say. "I hate when those celebrities blah blah blah." Who gives a shit.

The Things That Anger You Thread.

I'm going to copy what I wrote in your "Ever feel like you can't find the right job?" thread from June/July: I think it still applies. Enterprise obviously hasn't been a solution you really like, so try again. You're early in your career; figuring it out is what you're supposed to be doing.

I hate those celebrities who have no idea what's going on!

Yeah. It sort of makes sense, in that Arthur, Peter, and Sylar all have variations on the same power, given the family relationship and all that, but it's still lame. Again, it completely removes the stakes from this redemption arc; if the guy can just get what he always wants with the only difference being that he doesn't have to poptop people's heads, it's a bit shallow. Best part was Papa Petrelli more or less paraphrasing NWA's "One Less Bitch" while talking about women when everyone was stuck up in Ma Petrelli's mind.

Should I Move to the Pacific Northwest?

"Seattle Ain't Bullshittin'" is some classic Mix, as far as anything can really be considered "classic Mix."

Between this and the discussion of banana bread in the EHME's Friend Died thread, I feel like you've been watching the Michael McDonald/"I Keep Forgettin'" episode of Yacht Rock.

I had "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" as well. That little 38-key thing was probably the best $70 my parents ever spent on me, as far as money vs. time entertained goes.

    Fallout 3

The poor navigation through the metro relative to the world map is the biggest flaw in the game. The best method for getting around in the city area is to just trust your map marker for the quest; even if the direction you're going underground seems contrary to the cardinal direction you should be taking, the map marker will eventually take you the route you need to go. The system is designed to guide you to the next location you need, then through that location to the next location, etc. It's pretty non-intuitive, but passable once you get the hang of it.

    Fallout 3

I tagged small guns and have largely used them throughout, but also put a lot more points in energy weapons as the game's progressed. The unique plasma rifle you can get from is extremely powerful and can be acquired pretty early in the game. I'm quite fond of how energy weapons dissolve bodies.

Also, the new trailer that I saw before Bond was a bit silly. I didn't know the characters were going to be referring to themselves as "watchmen," as if that were the name of their group rather than Crimebusters; that's really, really lame.

I think there's something fundamentally weird about recreating a comic almost panel for panel, and then changing the ending. Odd.

    NFL Week 11

Fairly high on the list of things I didn't think I'd be saying in week 11: "Thomas Jones has got to pretty much be a lock for the Pro Bowl at this point, huh?" Great running down the stretch tonight. Between Jones and Leon Washington, the Jets have gotten absurdly good things out of their backfield since the bye week.

Oh, and I think the whole "Elle and Bennett manipulated Sylar into becoming a horrible killer when he was on his way to controlling it or taking himself out of the equation" is way too neat and tidy. Obviously it puts a sort of karmic retribution in place for Bennett since it was this process that rather directly led to Sylar's continued tormenting of his daughter, but c'mon, guys. The villain-attempts-redemption arc has been one of the few steadily interesting storylines in this season (really, it's that, Parkman, and Jaime Hector's hilarious "YOUR FEAR'S POWERIN ME UP!" stuff that's kept me watching), but a surefire to kill that is to make it into "look, he wasn't bad all along, he's been created!" Murdering self-absorbed monster attempts to stop being murdering self-absorbed monster is a lot better when the murdering self-absorbed monster is actually allowed to retain his past as a murdering self-absorbed monster. Yes, I enjoyed that last sentence.

The Things That Anger You Thread.

Pretty much, yeah. I did alright on the verbal section, but the rest just did not go well at all. And don't even get my started on the sheer retarded awfulness of the English Lit subject test. Ughh. AdiĆ³s, dreams of going to Berkeley Yeah, the English lit subject test is awful. You actually probably aren't in that terrible a position; if there's one thing I remember English grad departments not giving a shit about, it's the math side of the GRE. I think you'll find that recommendations will carry significantly more weight.

    Rock Legend found dead

You know you're out of the public eye when the lead for your death is "Rock star dies" rather than your name.

Snore. Those tie-ins to the beginning of the series weren't as cute and clever as intended. I just remembered that Villains is actually just the first half of season 1, so there's only 5 more episodes of this business until we move on to a new go-to-the-future-and-find-the-threat episode!

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

I love Love is All, and should be getting a copy of the new album by this weekend. Great first album, and they're fantastic live too. However, I wouldn't compare them to the Clash or Strokes; I think the review was more saying that the arc between their first two albums is similar to the respective arcs of those bands (sound cleaned up a bit, some more experimentation, a little less energy). Having some sense of your taste, I think you ought to check out Nine Times That Same Song, their debut. If you go on Soulseek/SSX, you can probably find it in 2 minutes. If you want to seeqpod a few songs, I'd say that "Busy Doing Nothing," "Spinning and Scratching," and "Trying Too Hard" will give you a pretty good feel for them.

I think you'd really like Person Pitch. Also: FYE still exists? Remarkable!

I don't get it. Why is this blog in Spanish? Why are there 3-year periods? WHAT'S HAPPENING.
