Dean's budget-balancing act left taxpayers in red
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Also, guess what? Vermont's 5c/dollar is 40th in the nation. It rose one penny from 4 cents, but it's still much less expensive than any other state. -
Lieberman has supported pretty much the entire Bush administration. He's conservative.

How much are you going to save on health insurance, though? Far more than pennies. -
If Priest Holmes really is injured, picking up LJ will be a prescient move. I actually tend to believe they wouldn't have drafted LJ if it wasn't more serious than we all suspect, so I wouldn't trade the guy yet. Your RBs are relatively fine, in my opinion, but your recievers are *okay*. None of those guys really are kingmakers, but you may have a winning combination with Warner/Faulk if they both kick back into form. I predict they will.

Arnold taking questions.......
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to NoCalMike's topic in Current Events
Oh, I'm just being a sourpuss, I know. If he's truly the type of person he's billed to be, I wouldn't mind him as much as a Bush clone. However, he sounds way too much like an idealist without ideas to me. -
Dean's budget-balancing act left taxpayers in red

It doesn't mention that Dean dropped income taxes several times during his governorship. Look at the particular taxes he did raise: sales (by a penny. My lord, as if we can't afford 5 cents/dollar versus 4), cigarettes (I'm not exactly against this one), property (this one stings a bit, but then again... it's not as if the poorest individuals will hurt much from it), and corporate (please, they have enough loopholes as it is. I have no sympathy for their interests). The taxes that most people are killed by the most -- that is, income and payroll -- were not raised. As for Universal health care, Dean's plan can be paid -- quite literally -- in its entirety by less than half of the Bush tax cuts. Judging by my paycheck this week, I'm not exactly seeing much of that anyway. Pardon me if I don't mind seeing them repealed. -

Excellent, glad to hear it. Yeah, the Bush banner is kinda cryptic and unfortunately, BUSH is emphasized more than Orwell. -

won't happen. It's impossible. Expanding on this, it's impossible because he wasn't born in America. Thus, he can't become president. -
Not I He's a typical pro-business social liberal. He's still moderate if anything.
-
And there ARE a few "liberal" conservatives. Jim Jeffords was one, Lincoln Chaffee could be considered one, too. (although, he's certainly republican).

I guess it's helpful that you have such low standards, then. It seems all that it takes to get your vote is having an "R" next to your name. -

He's also waffling on the issues, it seems. He hasn't answered practically any questions about his economic or even social agendas on the talk show circuit he's been attending. -

For Dean fiscal analyses from that liberal bastion, the Cato institute, look here and here. You'll note that he's ranked close to Bush in most catergories. -
Dean's official Social Security position -- as stated by his speech on C-Span tonight -- is that he wants to uncap the income limit. Makes sense, but it might piss people off.

They certainly aren't mine. The campaign has taken off despite the terrible press he's recieved from several journalists (mostly DLC types), and it even seems that every time a negative story comes out about Howard, the campaign responds resoundingly and we gain more support. I was simply responding to Spicy's whining about Arnold's bad press, because he has no freakin' idea of the meaning. Isn't it wonderful that you're so willing to give Arnold a pass based on his "record", but you refuse to look at Dean's? Wow, what a blind homer. -
Naw, it's more like if he can balance the budget, he can put the surplus towards social security. It's a tough issue, and it's not necessarily huge that he misspoke in the debate. After all, Bush does it all the time and I'm the only one that seems to care. This is an issue on which he had recently changed his stance (hey, better than blindly sticking to ideology; at least he acknowledged the mistake), and it was an admitted mistake. No harm, no foul.

I saw the Bustamane story earlier from dKos, and I'm really glad that the democrats have a good option finally. Jobber, from your perspective, what do you think of him? -
