Does this happen to anybody else while exercising?
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to a topic in General Chat
Numbness after exertion is one of the telltale signs of a brain tumor. -
If you have the ability to get SATA, though, get it. It's a lot faster of an interface and it's not that much more expensive. You can get a 250 gig for 90 bucks on Newegg. Or, if you're going for the most reliable/best performance, go for a Western Digital Raptor. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822144160 -- Raptor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822144154 -- 250 gig SATA.

Like from a leak by a highly placed, anonymous source from within the Bush administration, for example! -
Yeah, I read your post. And yeah, I know how data is routed on the internet. However, if MS is saying the packet loss occurs before the data leaves the Comcast network, it's not hard to conclude from this that yes, the problem is on Comcast's end. If they're generally just saying "It's packet loss", the solution is very freakin' simple: run a traceroute from the console and find out where the packet loss is occuring.

Ding ding, we have a winner. My roommate plays Halo 2 on XBLive all the friggin' time and doesn't have these lag issues. In fact, he played it as recently as last night and did fine. It's not the XBL servers.

FCC Chairman Gets My Blood Flowing
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to BruiserKC's topic in Current Events
I don't really understand how you relate a welfare state to paternalism. Even in a welfare state, it's not that we want the "government to do it for us", we want the government to give us money. Fundamentally, you're misinterpreting the mincing liberals of the 60's to early 90's. We were all about handouts, not government control. We've NEVER been about government control and authoritarianism. I suppose paternalism could be considered the next logical step, but we've never taken that step and never will. The FCC has little support in this matter or any matter, for that matter (and this matters!). The PTC doesn't count. -
Bought a Sanyo SCP-200 Data Cable...
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to Eclipse's topic in Technology
I actually found the drivers for my cellphone on Torrentspy, so take that as you will. If you look hard enough for the drivers, you'll find them. -
Shhhhhhhhhhhhocking that Rant defends Comcast. Some games DO require more bandwidth than others, you can see that very easily if you have a bandwidth monitor and any friggin' PC game ever. The fact that there's packet loss -- not lag -- suggests that yes, it's on the ISP's side.

Oddly enough, the Pens lose when they probably played one of their best games of the season and only get a single goal out of it. They looked like they really started to click in the second period and never really let up, firing quite a few shots on Lundquist. None seemed to find the back of the cage, and that's not because they weren't good shots; Erik Christiansen looked like a man posessed. But, even with the loss, it looks like they've found a formula to generate more offense than they had been in the last few games. I hope they carry that over to Saturday and, preferrably, the rest of the season.

The Penguins seem to have realized that in order to score more goals, you must shoot the puck on net!

Well, one thing you could do is tell them (even if it isn't true) that you've had it confirmed by several different sources that the problem is on their end and if they continue to refuse to help, they could be in breach of their contract (or something to that effect; just make it up and threaten legal action) for limiting your bandwidth when you signed up for X amount of bandwidth in the first place. Ask to speak to a supervisor and then, if they still give you shit, slip in the fact that you're extremely dissatisfied with their service and will switch to their competitor if they don't help you out. If that doesn't work, follow through and actually DO switch. It HAS to be on their end.

Next episode looks friggin' awesome, and this week's was solid as well.

Video Games that make you think of Eddie Guerrero
Dr. Tyler; Captain America posted a topic in Video Games
When I heard he died, I couldn't stop thinking of the ending of Final Fantasy X, so that's one for me. I was also playing Star Wars: KotOR II when I heard the news, so every time I play that from now on, I'm sure I'll think of him. I'm sure What about for you guys? -
Well, the right side of the line has been fairly weak all year, with Kendall Simmons in particular stinking it up... but Jeff Hartings had been able to cover for his inability to get to the second level, for the most part. In pass blocking, they've usually had some stellar work by the RBs to pick up the man Simmons misses, too. However, Starks (who is in his first year as a starter) has mental lapses at times and, while he's generally solid, he's still basically a rookie. Last night, he was hobbled a bit by a knee injury that he suffered against Baltimore, and the speed of the Indy line basically rendered him useless... especially with Simmons to his left. On the other side of the line, the Steelers usually get solid play out of Marvel Smith, but he's been out the last few weeks and he went down after the first quarter of this one. There, you've got a true rook in Trai Essex backing him up, and Freeney just flat out abused him. Good blocking RBs can only do so much; when you've got three guys running free every play, it doesn't matter if you've got Peyton's arm and brain and Vick's legs; you're not going to get too many good passes off. That's why you saw a lot of short dump passes from Roethlisberger and an ineffective running game. Nearly every play, you'd see the hole develop, but Simmons' inability to get to the second level and block the linebackers killed the inside run, and leakage on the outside basically doomed any counters or slower developing runs.

Somewhat pleased that the Pens chose Caron over Thibault. MA Fleury is now the starting goaltender, so having Caron, Thibault, and Fleury on the same roster makes absolutely no sense.

I don't know. I think last night, the Steelers showed people how to stop the Colts. Whether teams actually are able to do it the same way or not is in question, but if you throw a lot of fake blitzes at Manning (and actually SELL THEM) at his first cadence (that is, try to time the "first snap"), he'll usually audible into a pass. If the blitz is going to the other side of the field and half of the D drops back into coverage, he'll get some passes, but overall, you bottle him up. The Steeler O-Line lost that game last night, don't be fooled; Freeney & Co. went up against a line with two essentially rookie tackles and a dullard at RG and ate them alive. Perhaps if Essex gets more experience (or, preferrably, Smith comes back healthy), the Steelers will have a better shot at beating the Colts. The Bengals showed how to score on them last week, the Steelers showed how to stop them this week. I think if Marty Shittenheimer was watching, the Colts lose to SD.

When they played the Steelers, LT got bottled up but still squirted out of the backfield on some designed throws for big yardage. Whether or not they do it often isn't the question; teams play it like they're gonna do it because the threat is simply there. You'll see a lot more cover two base against them because they need the LBs and corners underneath to eliminate the threat.
-
LT can be shut down, like any running back. Gates goes quiet when you hit him in the mouth. The big thing is LT's ability to catch out of the backfield, but San Diego's offense can be beaten up.
-
Don't insult Indy's offense like that. Drew Brees is not Peyton Manning, and Keenan McCardell is no Marvin Harrison.
-
Well, now it's over. Defense held up, but the offense just didn't step up and play ball. Ben didn't look very good and looked overall indecisive, but penalties really killed quite a few drives. Now, they need to step up and win next week against the Bungles.
-
The last three Steeler drives (I believe) have been killed by terrible false start penalties. The last one, though, showed some promise. Hopefully, they can build off of the momentum and make a game of this.

Jesus, it would be nice if Essex or Simmons could hold their damned stances.

Thing is, if they get it, Cowher's a genius.
