The Agent of Oblivion question of the day
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to Lt. Al Giardello's topic in No Holds Barred
people like you are the worst people on the planet. that's great and all, there are plenty of people who are abstinent for various reasons. here's the thing... WHY POST IN THE THREAD?!?! you just want to make it all about yourself and have people be either like: a) whoa dude that's cool, ur edgy bro mad props or b) HEY HES NEVER BEEN DRUNK! LETS PAY ATTENTION TO HIM AND ASK HIM ALL KINDS OF QUESTIONS ABOUT HIS SOBRIETY! nobody gives a fuck. stop trying to make it all about yourself. -

well uh, if you put it like that I wasn't trying to be demeaning, but in a line of work and assortment of branches where deadly force is supposed to be a regular part of the job, they're the deadliest. At least in theory anyway. i don't take offense to like, anything. haha. don't worry. you're probably right, and given that i don't plan on making it a three year career, the best opportunity for advancement for me is infantry officer. so, that's my plan. -

I hope it works out like you've been told. well, to be fair, i'm not being promised anything. i was talking about the army. marines don't get any kind of fringe benefits and bonuses; that's how we roll. our benefits are that we get a longer basic, ocs, and mos school, higher pft requirements, and get to be beaten to a pulp and brainwashed. -

true, but given that bonuses are supposed to be in the contract, there's not a whole lot of lying wiggle room -

seriously, you're being ridiculous. just sack up and realize you have to eat moderately or you're going to gain the weight back. if you eat moderately, you'll keep it off. that's all there is to it. i'm at the same weight i've been since i lost my weight, and i'm not restricting to 1400 calories. just relax and let it work.

officer careers aren't plum, at least they shouldn't be. with the additional pay comes an enormous amount of pressure and responsibility. -

that's really a terrible way to look at it. -

the military is all about how bad you want it. if you really want MP, work with your recruiter and be relentless about it. he'll get it for you, and he'll work to get you the character references necessary to pass the clearance. a secret clearance, which is all you should need, is so frickin easy to get; as long as your arrest isn't part of a large pattern of obvious mischief (which would normally disqualify you from enlistment anyways), you can get it if you really, really want it. -

Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to Art Sandusky's topic in General Chat
good times. fwiw, arrests are not disqualifying for clearances as long as there is a demonstrated effort to reform the offending behavior. if your overall resume is fairly strong, i wouldn't settle for something you don't want to do if MP is your real desire. -

you can get much more than 8k depending on the demand for the MOS and your accrued bonus based on education. unless the dude was lying to me about it. but yeah, at least half of it is tuition and gi bill. -
just keep doing what you're doing. you're not starving yourself by doing 1400-1800 cals a day at all.

yup. selected MOS/education levels apply, but yeah. that's what they were going to have me sign for when i was about to choose army. it kinda took a lot of soul searching to choose marines instead. you have to keep in mind that the army is the largest service of our military, and therefore, has unbelievably large quotas they have to meet for recruitment. offering 80k in total bonuses helps them reach those quotas. -

look at it this way: would you rather trust your life in the hands of people who are held to the highest physical and mental standards and have to fight their way to even get into that branch, go through the toughest basic training and have to be held to an even higher standard than that to become an officer, or would you rather trust someone who only joined for the 80k signing bonus? just sayin'. -
speaking of crossfit, did you do fran today? anyone? post your times!

the rational and intelligent response to your question is that there is no possible way to quantify life or the point at which something changes from a ball of cells and tissue to a person. a "person" is a subjective definition anyways and is determined by your own personal morality; it's not a medical term, it's a descriptive one. if i walked down the street and saw a zygote sitting on the curb, i'd probably run it over and think nothing of it, but you want to tell me that's got the same rights as i do, somehow. i don't see it. -

sure. i know plenty of unlikely marines and soldiers in general. wouldn't think army is most likely for him, but then again, the 80k in bonuses that army guys get is pretty sweet. much better than our bonuses. -

wow, internet forumer'd. brb, slitting wrists because i got pwnt. gtfo. the problem with your delicious indigence is that there is no possible way to conclusively prove anything. just like my opinion -- whether it's stupid or not -- isn't provable, neither is yours. it all comes down to a matter of opinion and faith, and you can't conclusively prove either of those things. get over it.
