He lost miserably in 2004, so I doubt he gets another look.
-
Steve Largent is also a popular figure with extremely high name ID. You're completely discounting the power of political machinery in terms of creating a candidate. Henry's age may not even be an issue. Just wait and see.

How Will Arafat be remembered?
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to Vanhalen's topic in Current Events
He had a chance to be remembered as a freedom fighter, but after declaring the second intifada in 2000, he'll be remembered as a terrorist who was counterproductive to the peace process. -
Ah, yes, but a mixer IS NOT A PARTY. Remember.

Nice Guy Adam is the authority when it comes to determining what's cool and what isn't. Thusly, he posts on a message board telling people that making fun of each other when you post on a message board isn't cool. I bet he's so cool, he's partying RIGHT NOW.

Boo. Ivana should have been gone weeks ago and she still sticks on.
-
Slim to none.

Looking at Henry's NPAT on vote-smart.org, Rob E's choice looks pretty good. Quite moderate and isn't a political novice, yet has issues that primary voters would like.

Anyone else wanna cut someone for a specific reason?
-
Brian Schweitzer won the governorship in Montana, which puts him on this list as well. Tom Vilsack -- IA Bill Richardson -- NM Michael Easley -- NC Brad Henry -- OK Phil Bredesen -- TN Mark Warner -- VA Joe Manchin -- WV Dave Freudenthal -- WY However, then again, I think we cut him immediately due to lack of electoral experience. He's not likely to jump straight to the White House after one turn in office. Okay, so let's getinto issues. Let's cut anyone of these who are in favor of gay marriage (not Civil Unions, which is a different story) Tom Vilsack -- IA (anti-gay marriage, anti-FMA) Bill Richardson -- NM (pro-civil unions, anti-gay marriage, anti-FMA) Michael Easley -- NC (no statements) Brad Henry -- OK (undecided, based on vote-smart.org's test given to him. No public statements) Phil Bredesen -- TN (no public statements) Mark Warner -- VA (anti-gay marriage, pro-FMA) Joe Manchin -- WV (no public statements) Dave Freudenthal -- WY (anti-civil unions, anti gay marriage) Well, that didn't help any. I won't cut any with no statements on the issues. Richardson comes closest to the standard, but still doesn't go too far on the issue.

Bob Wise of WV didn't seek re-election and was replaced by another Democrat, Joe Manchin. That changes the list to: Tom Vilsack -- IA Bill Richardson -- NM Michael Easley -- NC Brad Henry -- OK Phil Bredesen -- TN Mark Warner -- VA Joe Manchin -- WV Dave Freudenthal -- WY
-
I accept that, and that whittles the governor candidates down to 8. Three bolded are confirmed individuals who are probably running. Tom Vilsack -- IA Bill Richardson -- NM Michael Easley -- NC Brad Henry -- OK Phil Bredesen -- TN Mark Warner -- VA Bob Wise -- WV Dave Freudenthal -- WY
-
I have found out that Holden of MO lost re-election, as did Kernan of Indiana. Scratch them, we're down to 9, pending Snuffbox's objection to Doyle of WI. (I haven't refreshed yet)
-
Out of curiosity, why is that?
-
Of these final (11), we have some who have expressed Presidential ambition. Joseph E. Kernan -- IN Tom Vilsack -- IA Bob Holden -- MO Bill Richardson -- NM Michael Easley -- NC Brad Henry -- OK Phil Bredesen -- TN Mark Warner -- VA Bob Wise -- WV Jim Doyle -- WI Dave Freudenthal -- WY For the sake of argument, let's keep them on the list.
-
By the way, if any of the final 11 were voted out of office, by all means, let me know. Joseph E. Kernan -- IN Tom Vilsack -- IA Bob Holden -- MO Bill Richardson -- NM Michael Easley -- NC Brad Henry -- OK Phil Bredesen -- TN Mark Warner -- VA Bob Wise -- WV Jim Doyle -- WI Dave Freudenthal -- WY
-
Based on 2GOLD's assessment of no New England candidates, that whittles the field down to: Janet Napolitano -- AZ Ruth Ann Minner -- DE Joseph E. Kernan -- IN Tom Vilsack -- IA Kathleen Sebelius -- KS Kathleen Blanco -- LA Jennifer Granholm -- MI Bob Holden -- MO Bill Richardson -- NM Michael Easley -- NC Brad Henry -- OK Ted Kulongosky -- OR Ed Rendell -- PA Phil Bredesen -- TN Mark Warner -- VA Gary Locke -- WA Bob Wise -- WV Jim Doyle -- WI Dave Freudenthal -- WY Surprisingly, not much of a difference. So, let's throw out anyone from a Democratic stronghold state (again, for argument's sake) Janet Napolitano -- AZ Joseph E. Kernan -- IN Tom Vilsack -- IA Kathleen Sebelius -- KS Kathleen Blanco -- LA Bob Holden -- MO Bill Richardson -- NM Michael Easley -- NC Brad Henry -- OK Ed Rendell -- PA Phil Bredesen -- TN Mark Warner -- VA Bob Wise -- WV Jim Doyle -- WI Dave Freudenthal -- WY Again, that doesn't help us a whole lot. Still quite a few candidates that qualify based on geography. So, let's throw out Rendell of PA for being incompetent, and all the women, because I doubt that any have a real shot as early as '08. That's not a judgment I agree with, but it's widely accepted and let's face it, I don't think it's gonna happen. Joseph E. Kernan -- IN Tom Vilsack -- IA Bob Holden -- MO Bill Richardson -- NM Michael Easley -- NC Brad Henry -- OK Phil Bredesen -- TN Mark Warner -- VA Bob Wise -- WV Jim Doyle -- WI Dave Freudenthal -- WY Now, we get down to the nitty gritty. Anyone else wanna play? Let's add more rules and kick some more of these guys out.
-
Believe me, if the primary voters will go for Kerry based on electability, they could elect one of these guys. For shits and giggles, I just looked up all of the Democratic governors. (FYI -- some may have lost re-election and the NGA's website hasn't been updated) Janet Napolitano -- AZ Ruth Ann Minner -- DE Rod Blagodjevich -- IL Joseph E. Kernan -- IN Tom Vilsack -- IA Kathleen Sebelius -- KS Kathleen Blanco -- LA John Baldacci -- ME Jennifer Granholm -- MI Bob Holden -- MO McGreevy from NJ is still listed Bill Richardson -- NM Michael Easley -- NC Brad Henry -- OK Ted Kulongosky -- OR Ed Rendell -- PA Phil Bredesen -- TN Mark Warner -- VA Gary Locke -- WA Bob Wise -- WV Jim Doyle -- WI Dave Freudenthal -- WY Let's use this as a worksheet for the next Democratic candidate, for argument's sake. I'm posting this now to prevent myself from losing this list, so I'll continue it in later posts.

Warner also may be running for Senate in 2006, which would likely put him out of the running in 2008. But we'll see. If he doesn't run in '06, he WILL be running in '08.
-
That he does, I'll agree with that. I really think you're overestimating Hillary's allure to the primary voters anymore. It's gone outside of the state of NY.

And Mike, they don't. Trust me.
-
Mark Warner, VA. Brad Henry, OK (Rob E's choice), Bill Richardson, NM
-
And Hillary won't be the nominee (double post SAVE!)
-
Dean won't run in 2008 because quite frankly, he won't be able to. He'll probably be DNC chief, and he's requried to serve a four year term.
