Jeb Bush is reportedly interested in returning to the private sector.

I haven't timed myself in ages, and when I did, it was only in the 40 yard dash. In that, I got a 4.65. I run distance now, but mostly just for fitness. I'm more concerned with final distance than the time I accomplished it in.

Yasser Arafat has "Hours to live"
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to Vanhalen's topic in Current Events
If you read the article, it's hardly praising him. -
Yeah, I'm paying 15k a year for my education. They're getting it for free. I've got no problem with them not getting paid.

Bush wants to bring back the line-item veto
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Current Events
From this thread, it's clear that Mike has little grasp on Constitutional Law. -
I'm currently taking a World Politics and International Terorrism course, and the professor is a major proponent of a biometric national identification system. In recent years, I have heard many liberal circles crusade against such a system, and I have to admit, my ignorance on the subject had led me to oppose such a program. However, after hearing the argument on the side of such national identification programs, must confess, I find the arguments in favor of them to be quite compelling. The only justification against such a program that I can come up with in this early hour of cramming before a midterm examination is the purely selfish desire to remain unidentified to the national government. So, Liberal Legions and Otherwise Loosely Affiliated Libertarians (LLOLAL!!), sell me off of (or onto, although I've already probably heard your arguments) national identification systems. After all, this is far more enlightening than "DO THE DEMOSPLATS NEED EXTREME MAKEOVER©?

Ashcroft, Evans resign from Cabinet

Something tells me Kerry wouldn't have kept Ashcroft on, either. -

Just got a brand new Dell, one problem...

It's likely just AOL, pop up ads, etc. However, you could always go through the list of Spybot, Ad-Aware, etc. to try and fix any potential issues. -
Let's contain the liberal post-election hysteria
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to kkktookmybabyaway's topic in Current Events
I dunno, I don't think it's that much different than Halo 1... I mean, it's still fun to get a huge group of people playing, but I find it to be rather underwhelming considering the hype. Still fun, but disappointing. -
One of these days.

Let's contain the liberal post-election hysteria

http://www.humaneventsonline.com/article.php?id=5652 How about some conservative hysteria while we're at it? -
Seriously, the lesser known conservatives on this board need to extract the sand from their vaginas. You're so quick to jump on someone and stake your claims to superiority. Let it go, men. Let it go.

TB/OAK was the first Super Bowl in recent memory that I didn't even watch.

Swing and a miss.

It was actually neither long, nor rambling.

You're also forgetting Dean's success in getting people elected. He didn't campaign very hard for Kerry; his PAC took on 12 candidates for lower offices and won 9 of them; they were state legislature candidates mostly, and the initiative turned out to be a smashing success. In time, you'll see that if he gets this job, the Democratic party will be back in good shape by the time his term is over.
-
And Dean would have little influence on the party's message to anyone except talk shows (providing an alternatve voice) and fundraisers.
-
Well, I didn't have to do much work in this thread. Needless to say, I think he'd do a damned good job in this role and it would alleviate the pressure on him from supporters of his organization to run again in 2008, which would be a bad idea in my opinion.

Sell me off of a national ID card.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to Dr. Tyler; Captain America's topic in Current Events
The information, though, is most definitely not feasibly available to the federal government. To the feds, the only form of ID they have available is a passport, which is easily forgeable. -

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Seriously, despite the usual "OMG 1984" crap, what the hell is wrong with confirming one's identity? -
Sell me off of a national ID card.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to Dr. Tyler; Captain America's topic in Current Events
The only thing I can think people would be concerned about in terms of being identified (with biometric information) is if they plan on murdering someone. And this is an actual debate, not the OAOAST. -
Sell me off of a national ID card.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to Dr. Tyler; Captain America's topic in Current Events
This is even more benign than the PATRIOT Act, though. This is just having a way to confirm, beyond a shadow of a doubt, your identification. It's not surveillance or wire tapping. -
Sell me off of a national ID card.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to Dr. Tyler; Captain America's topic in Current Events
I would think it violates a civil right too, but... it doesn't. At all. We don't have the right to be unidentified to the federal government. Nowhere in the Constitution, federal law, or state law does it say that we have the right to be unidentified. And I don't think there's any way to fake retinal information, FWIW, and thus, that would make it improbable for people to get around it. -

But the thing is, what do you have to be scared about if you're not a criminal? It would, undoubtedly, be of immense help for our security forces.
