kkk pick 'em contest Week 7
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to kkktookmybabyaway's topic in Sports
PLEASE. The prevent is obviously the conservative scheme, being that they allow the recievers the free market. Tight defense is a liberal thing. It's protectionism. -
Excellent! Rob and I had a bet going on whether Mike would post incredibly true Drudge story. He won. I had more faith in you.

The last two posters Seemingly have killed this thread Needs more liberal

Eh, he was a good WR for the Panthers, though.

Cheney: "Terrorists May Bomb U.S. Cities"
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Current Events
So... having no plan (Bush) is better than wishful thinking? BRILLIANT!</guinness> ...uhh... he's not the president yet... so how would he show you anything? His comments are all you have to go by. He's made comments stating that he'd never hesitate to unilaterally protect our nation. ... ... Am I missing something, or are you just being terribly partisan here? -
Cheney: "Terrorists May Bomb U.S. Cities"

That's hyperbole. He's not giving any technology to Iran. He desires to compromise to reinforce our troops in Iraq. Will it work? Maybe, maybe not. But I don't see Bush with a better plan to get us out of Iraq. Overblown talking point. He's said he won't hesitate to protect our nation without allies if needed. Global Test refers to cases of nation building. You can say whatever you want about Kerry and vote for whomever you want based on your opinions; however, they shouldn't be construed as anything more than that. You're using talking points as justificaton for your stances, and that's simply disingenuous. -
Another WR traded at the deadline
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to jimmy no nose's topic in Sports
No doubt, but the Pittsburgh secondary was also shored up by removing both of their deadbeat safeties. The SD pass defense is still pourous, and that's why they're not 6-0. -
Ever been pulled over for speeding?

Oy. GMU's traffic situation is a dandy. I don't think you can speed on Braddock road, given the construction and constant gridlock. -

Keenan and Bobby Shaw are still over the hill recievers who will add little in terms of gamebreaking ability to this team. They weren't a playoff team before these aquisitions. They're still not a playoff team. See: Pittsburgh, 2003, et al -

Ah, my mistake. Ft. Belvoir in Fairfax is the same way as you described, with the front and rear entrances walled off now. And the construction comment -- hell, you've probably driven in Northern VA, you know what I'm getting at -
Another WR traded at the deadline

They still have no offensive line and no defense. One over the hill WR does not a playoff team make. -
Damn you for quoting my typo

Ever been pulled over for speeding?
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to CBright7831's topic in General Chat
Pulled over once (sort of twice), ticketed 0 times. First time, I was driving home from my girlfriend's house at night and she had pissed me off, and I forgot to turn my lights on. Pulled the "Yes, sir. No, sir." routine and the cop said, "Yeah, it's pretty well lighted out here, I can see where you wouldn't know you didn't have them on. It might've hurt you up ahead though" and gave me a warning, a smile, and a good night. Second time, my girlfriend was driving (first week driving) and she took a turn way too fast and spun out onto a grassy field. She freaks out and I get in the driver's seat and start to drive off, but a motorcycle cop comes over to my window and starts giving me shit. "Brakes locked up, sir." He gives me some shit about how he KNOWS I was driving too fast, due to his impeccable knowledge of the length and breadth of skid marks (which he had barely even looked at). So I apologized and said I misjudged the turn. He drives off with a scowl. Dickhead. Belvoir? I thought I remember you saying you were from the DC area... -

AoO OWNS YOU ALL for being the only one who picked the Pitt upset. HAIL TO PI--wait, we lost to UConn. -
The scary part about the Steeler O-side is that they can afford to make mistakes. Duce Staley is a big upgrade over Bettis and they've still got a stellar trio of WRs. Even if Ben missteps on a throw or two, they still have the potential to make him look like a God... or, at least, a minor deity. I have no doubt that he's gonna take his licks. Hell, he has 3 INTs already. But the man just looks fucking good. It didn't seem to matter when the Cowboys had his recievers locked down (which did, in fact, happen quite a few times). He simply had the feel; he could sense when he was in trouble and scrambled out of the pocket, but not to run -- he made Favre-esque shovel passes and dump offs that went for 8-12 yards on what should've been sacks. I'm seriously, truly excited for the first time in my life for my team's chances. It's probably premature, but the kid honestly makes me (and, no doubt, many other Steeler fans) feel that this team is exponentially better than the 6-10 team they were last year. The only real aquisitions were Ben and Duce. This team, however, feels like a playoff team at the very least. They've got a wicked schedule coming up. After the bye, they've got the Patsies and the Iggles. That's, obviously, gonna be his true test. Cowher is enough of a dumbshit that Belicheck should outcoach the hell out of him; can Ben's improvision and football sense still pull out a W? Can Pittsburgh make up for the loss of Casey Hampton for what appears to be the season? Who knows? But it's gonna be fun as hell to watch. And I'm buying my #7 jersey as soon as I can, God damn it.

I <3 Big Ben in a completely heterosexual way. Holy fucking Christ, this kid is for real.
