    Gilmore Girls

Last year, I would turn down the volume when the theme song came on so my housemates wouldn't know I was watching it. I'm very clever.

    And So it Begins

Shit, I'd rather him go to the O's than play for Loria. C'mon Mets, don't let me down.

    Toronto Blue Jays

I think Quiroz is probably going to start the year in AAA, unless Zaun or Myers gets hurt in Spring Training. And, I think unless Reed Johnson is dumped somewhere, Gross may start in AAA, too. Wells and Rios have their 2 spots in the OF filled, and Catalonotto and Johnson will probably platoon in LF. Probably better for him to get more playing time in the minors than being a 4th or 5th outfielder in the bigs. Really, though, I don't think there's anyway they can be as bad as they were last year. At least, I hope not, it was quite depressing to watch. Oh, and Phelps SUCKED last year except for a stretch of about a week where he killed the ball.

Why do you hate ... who you hate?

Aside from Jeffrey Loria, I wouldn't say I hate any team or figure in sports. I can't even say that I really hate my favourite team's 2 biggest rivals. NHL: -Ottawa: I was cheering for them in '97 when they played Buffalo, I loved it when they upset the Devils in '98, but I obviously can't cheer for them anymore. I like seeing them do well in the regular season (well, not too well), though, and am glad they finally have a competent owner who doesn't need to whine about moving to Portland any time he thinks he needs the government to give him some money. -Montreal: Even though it gave me the opportunity to rag on some family members, when they were at the bottom of the league a few years ago, I didn't like it. I was upset when they lost to Carolina in '02, since we lost a chance to see a Toronto/Montreal Eastern Conference finals. -Philly: Hmm, this one's bordering on hate. Probably mostly because they keep beating the Leafs. And Bob Clarke's an asshole, so that makes it easy. -Rangers: I love watching them lose. MLB -Loria: Yeah, I hate him. -Yankees: It's frustrating playing in the same division as them when they spend about 4 times as much money on players as your team does. In terms of enjoying watching them lose, I think the shit kicking that the Angels gave them in '02 tops anything, and my dislike for them has gone down a lot since. -Roger Clemens: I hated him for a bit after he forced his trade from the Jays (especially since they have pretty much nothing to show for him), but that's pretty much gone now, especially since he helped out my fantasy team big time last year.

    Why ya like...

I lived in the Toronto area for the first 6 years of my life, so that's where my Leafs and Jays fandom comes from. I'm the only Leaf fan in my whole extended family (although my Dad liked them for a bit there, before the rivalry with the Sens picked up, but he'll never admit to it), which pretty much makes me the target of a lot of abuse at family gatherings, as most of them are Habs fans. When I was younger, I hopped on the Cowboys bandwagon when they were winning Super Bowls in the early-90s, but I really don't care about them anymore. There's probably about 4 or 5 NFL teams that I mildy root for, but I wouldn't really consider myself a fan of any of them. When I was really young, I was a pretty big Cardinals fan, pretty much since I liked the Blue Jays, too, and they were both birds who's feathers stood up on their head or something lame like that. I cheered for the Expos mostly because I live about 2 hours from Montreal and would often go to their games when I would visit my uncle who lives there, but I doubt I'll care too much about the Nationals. The Oilers are a distant second in terms of hockey teams, partially due to the Gretzky years, but mostly because of their 1st round upsets over Dallas and Colorado in the late-90s. I looked forward to those Dallas/Edmonton playoff games almost as much as I did to the Leaf games.

    Your favorite non-NHL Hockey League

I'll sometimes try and catch whatever CHL games Sportsnet shows if there's nothing else on. I went to the OHL All-Star game last year, but I don't know if I'd make much effort to go to any other game aside from maybe the Memorial Cup. The local team is in the Jr. A (tier II) CJHL league and were in the national top 10 at one point earlier this year (they still may be, I'm not sure). I've been to a couple of their games this year, but that's only because I was volunteering for the local cable access guys, working one of the TV cameras. Very few players from the league go on to much success, the only 2 notables (and they're pretty big notables) are Larry Robinson and Steve Yzerman. I'm pretty sure Dainius Zubrus and Ray Sheppard spent some time in the league, too.

    Favourite Goals

-Joe Nieuwendyk vs. Patrick Lalime vol. 1 & 2 -Joe Sakic's clincher (well, I guess that's what it was) Olympic Gold Medal game in '02 And I always liked Owen Nolan's 'called' goal against Hasek in the All-Star game at San Jose.

    TV Shows on DVD

So far, I've got: 24 - Season 1 & 2 Arrested Development - Season 1 Happy Days - Season 1 Joe Schmo - Season 1 Seinfeld - Season 1-3 The Simpsons - Season 1-5 Undergrads - Season 1 Without a Trace - Season 1 Plus both Conan discs, a handful of Best of SNL ones, plus the South Park 'Passion of the Jew' DVD. Unless my financial status takes a dive in the future sometime, I'll probably end up getting every Seinfeld and Simpsons set, and I'm definitely picking up Arrested Development season 2. If I can find 24 season 3 on the cheap in a few months, I'll get that, too.

    I just realized something.

It seems like it's on RDS (French TSN) everytime I put it on there.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS

It can't be that expensive. My dad bought approximately 13 cartons of it the other day and he's a cheap bastard.

Worst thing you ever laughed at?

I think some fat lady set off the weight sensor on this one door at work that's usually only set off by the forklifts.
  20. I'll get it sometime after Christmas. Hopefully there's some Boxing Week sale to make it a bit cheaper.

Rate the TV shows you watch...

I'd give Lost, Arrested Development, and Without A Trace something in the A range. Survivor and Apprentice I'd give Bs to, same with the Simpsons. I watched the first few episodes of Joey, but didn't think it was very good, so I'd probably give that a C. Anything that's lower than that I probably wouldn't watch on a regular basis.

It had somehow managed to slide between my 2 mattresses. It's a Christmas miracle.
