The one I saw seemed the same, too.

What radio stations do you like to listen to?
treble replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in General Chat
In the van, the 6 presets are: 1 - Bob FM from Ottawa ('best of 70s, 80s, and Whatever' is their tagline. Some decent stuff on there, sometimes) 2 - K-Rock from Kingston (mix of older and newer stuff) 3 - The Bear from Ottawa (pretty much the same stuff as K-Rock) 4 - CHEZ from Ottawa (Classic rock) 5 - The Fox from somewhere in New York state (classic rock) 6 - Bob FM from Brockville/Kingston (yeah, there are 2 Bob FMs in this market. Same basic stuff as the one from Ottawa) Sometimes, at night, I can pick up WFAN when they boost up their signal. It comes in and out, but it's usually pretty strong. -
I just hope they don't bring her back later in the season to make up for this.

Yeah, gutting the team would be stupid (but, personally, I wouldn't mind it), but some people in here seem to get a little too defensive when someone mentions that the Yankees' farm system could use some revamping.
-
The A's also paid about $100 million less on players, too. And no one's saying that the Yankees should go the 'Moneyball' route, just that it might be a good idea to build up their farm system.

It'd be funnier if they were eating pretzels.

I was thinking about this at work today, but with Clemens, was that the first time a pitcher has started game 7 in one league's LCS and then started game 7 in the other league's LCS the next season?

Yes. Donald 'The Apprentice is the #1 Show on Television' Trump doesn't like people who exaggerate.

Montreal had a CBL team last year (well, for half a year, as long as the league was around), but had no home park and played all their games on the road.
-
I consider Mussina more of a douchebag for complaining about the Tom Cheek ceremony before a Yankees/Blue Jays game this season.

So, which arm and which leg did you have to give up?

How does playing a 7-game series make you 'old-school'? Hell, 100% of the World Series the Diamondbacks have played in have gone 7.
-
I guess they didn't paint the World Series logo at Fenway ahead of time this year.

God, that was one of the dumbest managerial moves I've ever seen. What was the point? For Pedro to show Schilling he's got a bigger dick? 'You can pitched on a fucked-up ankle? Well, I can pitch on one day's rest!' Christ, I'm going nuts.

So, CBC's made this list, and, have decided to make the Top 10 'interactive'. The special last night counted down from 50 to 11, while the top 10 will be voted on over the next few weeks, with a series of specials for each candidate, with a celebrity advocate helping argue each nominee's case. Anyway, here's the first part of the list (grabbed off the Globe & Mail website): Obviously, some of the list is bullshit. That Hal Anderson guy organized a campaign to get people to vote for him, and there are definitely other people who are on there buy don't belong or are higher/lower than they should be, but it's an interesting list, anyway. The top 10 is listed in alphabetical order: -Frederick Banting -Alexander Graham Bell -Don Cherry -Tommy Douglas -Terry Fox -Wayne Gretzky -Sir John A. Macdonald -Lester B. Pearson -David Suzuki -Pierre Elliott Trudeau The first special airs tonight at 8, with George Stroumbolopoulous arguing Tommy Douglas' case. The one I'm really interested in, though, is the Don Cherry one, with Bret Hart being his advocate.

I think the reason they may not be starting Wakefield is that they don't want to take Varitek out of the line-up and are afraid that he can't catch the knuckleball (which he showed in game 5).
-
Seems like Newsworld's showing repeats of this a lot during the week. The Douglas one was on tonight (I'm assuming more than once).
-
I thought 'Weapons of Mass Destruction' was last year's buzz 'word'.

If Mazzone was inducted, his plaque needs to be a hollogram of some sort which shows him rocking back and forth as you change the angle that you're looking at it from.

Cheney: "Terrorists May Bomb U.S. Cities"
treble replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Current Events
The problem I have with statements like this are that if terrorists are still likely to bomb America, than Bush, Cheney, et al. haven't done their job properly. You can't go out yelling 'The American people are safer!' and then raise the terror alert level and say stuff like 'we're still going to be bombed' and not expect to be questioned on it. -
No matter how great a game is, if the team you're rooting for (especially if they're a team you live and die by) loses, then it's bound to leave a sour taste in your mouth. Also, while I'd prefer that my team won every game in a thrilling fashion and that every game was a classic, I'd take winning shitty games if it meant winning a championship. 50 years from now, it's not likely that the quality of games will be remembered, but just the image of whomever wins it hoisting the trophy in the air. Pretty sure that if the Red Sox lose game 7, their fans would rather have won a bunch of shitty games as opposed to 3 very good/great games just to force a 7th game. Sure, you can take some pride in your team being the first to ever do that and remember the games that they won fondly, but they don't give you a trophy unless you win the World Series. I wouldn't call anyone who's a fan of either team who'd rather win a shittily played game than lose a classic less of a fan than anyone else. Having a team to cheer for clouds your judgment.

Not anymore, anyway.
