Yeah, Carolina beat the #6 Devils, #8 Canadiens, and #4 Leafs that year, having home ice advantage despite having less points than both the Devils and Leafs and probably not that much more than the Habs.

How was Senators/Wild 'cool'? If you want to talk about cool, go back to the '02 playoffs. The Hurricanes not only ruined a chance at a Leafs/Habs Eastern Conference finals, but also a Leafs/Wings Stanley Cup Finals (note: please ignore the fact that neither the Habs nor the Leafs played like they deserved to win those series) so they could go on to get their asses handed to them by Detroit.

Yeah, but I milked it for all it was worth. A couple days off of school and work and being waited on hand and foot sure was nice.

Mine never bothered me, but the dentist told me that they probably would in the future, so I should just have them taken out before there were any problems. They hadn't even come out through the gums yet, so I had the weird experience of having stitches in the back out my mouth where the 4 teeth would have been. I don't know how long I was knocked out for, a couple hours for all I know before I got out of the chair, got a ride home, and passed out for a few more hours. I bled for a while, but I was never really in any pain

This is pretty old, too. I think this guy won a Darwin Award for his suffering, so the story has a happy ending.

It's probably a bit over-rated (certainly not 'the best sitcom ever' like NBC was pimping it before), but I still liked the show for the most part. I just hope the finale's not too sappy.

The Red Wings from the past few years have a ton of guys who'll probably end up in the HOF. Look at the Cup winning team from '02: -Yzerman -Shanahan -Fedorov -Hull -Lidstrom -Robitaille -Chelios -Larionov (probably more for what he did in Russia than the NHL) -Hasek So there's 9 right there who have a shot to make it, plus Scotty Bowman as the coach, and you never know if someone like Pavel Datsyuk could go on to have a HOF-type career, too, pushing the number up even higher.

It's actually 7 Eastern in Canada, 8 Eastern in the States.

When was that, 1995?

That doesn't make any sense. They're voting for him since they've never actually seen him compete? If that were the case it'd be David Beckham or some other soccer player vs. Armstrong in the finals, then.

Is Jack still a heroin addict?
-
Well, yeah. It was mostly rhetorical since I can't believe that one didn't go in when they had a million chances.

The curse of beating the Senators continues. 4 times they've beaten Ottawa, 4 times they lost the next series. Fuck, how did they not score in OT?
-
The '75 (I think, it was around then, anyway) Islanders did it against Pittsburgh and the '42 Leafs did it in the Finals against Detroit.

There was talk about the Blue Jays doing this last year, but then they realized there was no one worth having go every 4 days except Halladay, so they just pitched him on 3 days rest a bunch of times.

I'm not that up to date on OVW happenings, but I'm going to assume Conway and Dinsmore hooked up a few times down there. Anyone know if they were any good (assuming the happened, of course)?

Fuck, poor CuJo's so snakebit.

2nd time in 3 years Gelinas scores an OT winner in a 6th game to eliminate Curtis Joseph's team.

If Calgary scores than Joseph officially has the worst luck of any playoff goalie. From the Leafs not being able to score at all in the '02 Conference finals, to last year's sweep by Anaheim, to the last few games of this series, CBC showed some graphic that most of his last playoff losses have been by 1 goal and it was like 10 of 11 or something like that.

There's nothing to cheer about.

My brother's going to Boston this weekend on a school trip and his class has box seats along the 3rd baseline to the Sox/Royals game at Fenway on Friday night and there are people who are complaining about having to go to a baseball game. So, yeah, people are retarded.

Yeah, I'm not condoning the slash or anything, but he wouldn't have done it had Stafford not swung at his head first. I don't know if it can even be compared to the McSorley/Brashear or Bertuzzi/Moore incidents, since this one wasn't premeditated. It was a split second reaction to getting almost getting slashed in the head, but you have to have more control over your emotions.

Maybe Esche was just dizzy watching the Flyers run circles around the Leafs.
