I heard somewhere that the Dodgers offered Nomo for Werth, but the Jays didn't want to have to pay his salary and they were worried about his elbow.

I think CBC's gotta be thrilled that they've got 2 All Canadian match-ups in the 1st round, especially since there was a possibility they'd have to worry about 6 different games with Canadian teams in them. The catch-22 is that that means that (at least) 2 Canadian teams will be out after the 1st round. My picks: EASTERN CONFERENCE (1) Tampa Bay Lightning over (8) New York Islanders in 6 -Islanders will probably take at least 1 game at home, but I can't see them taking the series. (7) Montreal Canadiens over (2) Boston Bruins in 7 -The curse of the 2nd seed strikes again. (6) New Jersey Devils over (3) Philadelphia Flyers in 6 -Wouldn't be surprised to see Philly win, though, especially since the Devils aren't healthy. (4) Toronto Maple Leafs over (5) Ottawa Senators in 4 - WESTERN CONFERENCE (1) Detroit Red Wings over (8) Nashville Predators in 5 -Nashville will probably win the 1st game and send Hockeytown into panic. (2) San Jose Sharks over (7) St. Louis Blues in 6 -San Jose's been strong all season, I don't see why they'd let down here. (6) Calgary Flames over (3) Vancouver Canucks in 7 -This should be awesome, if only for the crowds (especially in Calgary). (5) Dallas Stars over (4) Colorado Avalanche in 6 -Dallas has been playing well lately while Colorado hasn't. Hopefully these playoffs can live up to their hype, since they should be awesome.

Does YES have anything else to show? I know they pick up things like lacrosse games, so I'd assume they'd like to have Nets games on there to fill some time slots and get decent ratings.

I think the only team from the East I could live with winning the Cup besides the Leafs would be Tampa Bay. And I'm praying for Edmonton, but I'm not very hopefull. That lead they blew against Dallas in the last minute a few weeks back could be what killed them. That and the game against LA where they were leading by a goal with less than 90 seconds left and lost in regulation with 4 seconds left. That one hurt.

I don't usually keep many of them, but this one's from September 19, 2003, and I saved it for a reason: From The Upright Man. -
Me, too.

Things with which we'd be better off without.

One of these things doesn't belong. -
You say that the Giants have won the division 2 years in a row, but didn't they just win the Wild Card in 2002? Good stuff, though.

I don't even remember the poutine.

What the hell, grade me, too.

Shit, Tino's tearing it up today. Glad I have him on my AL-only fantasy team.

I think for the Jays to do anything they're going to need to have everything go right for them and have everything go wrong for the Yankees and Red Sox. Halladay has to win at least 20 games again, the rest of the rotation has to perform to expectations, Delgado and Wells have to do what they did last year, Hinske has to bounce back, and Josh Phelps needs to keep improving. The bullpen worries me a bit and I wish they had signed Urbina before he went to Detroit. I wish they played in the Central, but they still have a shot to contend in the East. Hopefully they at least improve on last year and show that even if they don't win anything this year, there's hope in the next year or 2.

Maybe you should ask for his phone number.

I watched off and on before I moved from Toronto, so I would have been around 6 or so, but I never really got hooked until late '92. I can remember the build-up to the Survivor Series that year, with the Warrior leaving and Perfect turning face. It must have been right after Bret beat Flair for the belt, and I can also remember watching Superstars and them hyping the SNME where HBK beat Bulldog for the IC title and Bret fought Papa Shango. Then I stopped watching sometime in '95, I think. It must have been during Diesel's run as champ and didn't start watching again until around WrestleMania XIV.

"THAT'S HIS MOVE!!!!!"

I wonder if he's thinking about me right now.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=78301 Nolan's going to miss at least 3 weeks. Hopefully if that's all he's out for the team's still playing when it's time to come back.

Maybe Kaptain Krusty can afford a haircut now.

Well, you said it fell completely off the radar and I was saying that it hadn't. I don't know how many stations it's on, Franken just spent most of the time making fun of O'Reilly and Limbaugh.

Shit, I was at that show. And, judging from the other pictures I found on that guy's site, I was sitting right near him, too.
-
Al Franken was on Letterman last week promoting it (or, his show, at least), so it's still out there. Sorry.
