They just said on HNIC that Washington wants Alexander Steen (prospect playing in Sweden [or somewhere else in Europe]) and Matt Stajan from Toronto for Gonchar. I REALLY don't want the Leafs to give up Stajan, even for someone like Gonchar. You think Washington would take Robert Reichel instead?

Eric Hinske wasn't exactly Mr. Muscles before he lost all that weight.
  4. I saw Monster yesterday. I guess I'd give it 8/10, if only for Theron's performance.

I'm going to have a hard time remembering who's available once we get past the first few rounds.
  6. The version that was the closing theme during the 'Rock Around The Clock' days. It was the same tune as the 'Happy Days' theme, just with different (and better) lyrics.

I'm still pissed they fired Kristi and Jesse on consecutive weeks.

Well, maybe they want to set the record so they'll keep losing some more. I really hope that this shitty team doesn't hurt Ed Olcyzk's future as the team's coach, but I think that Mario realizes that Scotty Bowman couldn't win shit with that team.

Was Katrina the one bitching about Troy being unethical just because he wanted the same apartment that she did and wouldn't negotiate (read: give her the apartment)? I always get her and Ereka mixed up. Troy and Nick are probably my favourites out of who's left, and even though I'm pissed that Sam was fired, it was worth it if just for him staring down Trump. Awesome.

If we're going to do it on AIM, why not just do a live draft instead? That being said, any of those times looks good to me.

    The Official MLB Offseason Topic

Olympic Stadium isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. You get that place full and it's rocking and you forget about what the place is like. And another thing, how can it be generic when 90% of stadiums today are either old ones or new ones made to look like old ones?

I think of all the goalies they could get that Roman Turek would be the one you would have to give up the least to get. Calgary doesn't really need him and would like to get rid of his contract if possible, so I'd bet that he could be had for a draft pick. That being said, I trust Turek slightly more than I do Kidd, so I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Leafs uniform if Belfour doesn't get healthy soon (or hell, even if he does). Kidd would probably clear waivers at this point so he could be sent down to the minors, hopefully not taking too much playing time away from Tellqvist (who better get the fucking start tonight in Carolina), unless they decide to release him completely. Man, I wish they hadn't let Corey Schwab go to Jersey.

Looking at what the Caps got for Bondra, if I'm the Leafs my first offer would be Antropov, Berg, and maybe a high draft pick. The Caps are giving up a top flight defenceman and getting back a forward with a ton of potential and another serviceable defenceman. The Leafs are deep at forward and even though Antropov could be a very good player, he's expendable and if they're getting Gonchar they don't need Berg anymore. Of course, this is just my fantasy world. He'll probably end up in Colorado like everyone else seems to.

    The retired number 42

Really, it's just a number, and it's a rather simple way to pay respects to what the man accomplished. If they were requiring every player to have his face tattooed on their back, I could see being a little upset about it, but I doubt Rivera's going to be crying himself to sleep that even if it wasn't for him that no other Yankee would be wearing 42 ever again, anyway.

It's just that there isn't a team that will likely make the playoffs that I think would be 'easy' to beat. I think the Leafs can beat any of the teams in the East, but there's no team that's a sure thing (or, as close as you can get to it) like there usually is in the top 8 of the conference.

    A-Rod traded to the Yankees?

And he's going to play at SkyDome just as much as he is at Fenway, so this worries me a lot. He owns the Jays. The AL East is playing the NL West this season, but I'm not sure which team the Yankees will avoid in order to play their 2 series against the Mets.

Fuck, no way in hell do I want the Sabres in the playoffs, especially if they're going to draw a lower seed and the Leafs are at the top. It's hard enough worrying about having to play the Islanders (when the Leafs can't win on the Island) or Montreal (even though that's the series I want the most, I'd be worried about playing Theodore in the first round), if not Jersey, Philly, Ottawa, Boston, or Tampa, but Buffalo owns the Leafs and I don't need to sit through a first round loss to a team they should handle easily.

    A-Rod traded to the Yankees?

You know, the Yankees and Red Sox will be playing other teams this year, so I don't really understand what showing his numbers vs. Boston shows.

    more ghey NHL rules

There's one thing I've seen mentioned at various places that I don't understand, which is if they do put in the rule saying that goalies can't play the buck behind the goal line is that they'll put in no-touch icings to protect the defencemen. Now, unless I'm missing something, what the fuck will that do? The goalies don't come out to play the puck on icings so the defencemen will still have to come back and get the puck when a goalie would be playing it now. As for whether or not goalies should be fair-game outside the crease, even if they are, no one's going to hit them as hard as they would a 'regular' player because everyone on the team will be gunning for them the rest of the game. However, I've seen a lot of cases where goalies have wandered around the ice and hit, tripped, or did other things to skaters that I don't think should be legal. A few years ago I remember a goalie and a winger in a race for the puck along the boards, the forward got their first but was leveled by the goalie and there was no penalty call on the play. Now, even ignoring the fact that it was obviously charging, as there were at least 10-15 strides from the net to where the hit was (and the goalie was skating full force), the goalie has an unfair advantage in that he wears a hell of a lot more equipment than anyone else on the ice so he shouldn't be allowed to hit players without getting a penalty. Also, I think it's unfair to think that Bettman doesn't care about the sport. I don't think he understands it that well and the Commissioner should be someone who does, but I really think he wants what's best for the game.

    A-Rod traded to the Yankees?

Well, I feel sorry for you, then. What's the fun in being a sports fan if you can't be optomistic about your team's potential?
