I don't know, I prefer the Leafs in the East against rivals like the Sens, Habs, and Sabres. On a unrelated note, Henrik Sedin just scored a NICE goal against the Ducks.

Ugh. Can we start a motion where the Leafs never have to play the Flyers again? It was even worse since the Leafs outplayed the Flyers for a stretch there but couldn't put the puck into the net and then the Flyers come back, get a few lucky bounces and goals and the Leafs stop trying. I hate to use this an excuse, though, but all these injuries are killing them. Obviously, I'd like them to win the division and (hopefully) finish 1st in the conference, but I wouldn't mind too much if they slipped down to 6th and drew whoever wins the Southeast in the 1st round with Mogilny, Nolan, et. al all rested and ready for the playoffs.

I don't think it's quite official, but yesterday on some radio show they were talking about how Bud Selig made his annual, 'We hope to have some place to move them by the All-Star break' speech.

I don't know if the average Puerto Rican has enough money to make a full-time major league team viable. Sure, they drew well enough over the course of about 20 games, but I'm not sure how they'd do over a full 81 game home schedule.

Fuck this. You just sucked half the fun out of this board.

What's the point of the fucking ellipses? Especially annoying is when the ellipse is followed by a question mark (What Do You Think...?) or when it's extended to 40 periods (My Opinion....................................................). Please stop, for my sanity.

I dislike Clemens for going around and saying he was going to retire, which led to him being put in the All-Star game (although, he arguably deserved to be there on his own, he wasn't chosen the proper way) and him being given standing ovations around the league, most notably in Boston and Florida after the game he started in the World Series and then deciding to come back. These ovations were signs of respect for a great career, one that everyone thought was coming to an end. It's a pretty scummy thing to come back after something like that. I do think, though, that (some) Yankee fans are over-reacting a bit. He was a free-agent and signed a contract with a team that offered him one. It's not really a betrayal of the team, as they weren't planning on having him as part of the pitching staff in '04, anyway. If he had said something along the lines of, 'If I come back for another year, it will only be with the Yankees' and then and gone and signed with Houston, I could understand how it can be seen as someone ripping your heart out, but if you're going to hate him for signing on with another team, hate Pettitte just as much.

You're too sensitive.

I don't know. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think football should be played in a building made out of glass that 'harvest(s) energy from wind, water and the sun' and has solar thermal tubes that are used to recycle rain water. I'd be afraid to spit on the field as it would probably end up coming out of a water fountain.

Todd Gill, who used to play in the NHL (his career kind of limped to an end, though) lives in the town where I live. He works for a local car dealership and I've seen him in commercials for them. I've also seen him come out of a sporting good store downtown.

Seems a little extravagant for a football stadium. I mean, really, you don't need to spend over a billion dollars for a building that's only going to be used for it's main purpose 10 times a year.

Roenick needs to stop whining. Yeah, you got hit in the face and there should have been a penalty, but at least you can still play (well, after his suspension's over). You want to be Owen Nolan (who didn't throw a tantrum like a 5-year old after he took that stick to the eye)?

I think it's more impressive that she's a 14-year old who shot a +2 as opposed to the female angle.

This seems needlessly confusing. Or maybe it's just late, I don't know.

I need to find a board full of lonely teenage girls and post there. Is the Cherrieboard still around?

Shit, I almost never play any games in my seasons, as I pretty much like simulating and working through the off-season. My brother got Madden '04 for Christmas and I tried to make the Bengals a winner, but the furthest I got was the Conference championship. Here at school, I have Madden 2000 which is just a *bit* of a step-down ( ), but I took the Saints and won 5 Super Bowls before I got bored and moved to the Panthers. I got fired in my second season there and then no one else would hire me (which is bullshit, I mean, I had 5 SBs, including 4 in a row), so I just went back to where I last saved it, traded for a better QB and the team went to the Super Bowl. I play about 1 game a season.

The One and Only A Minute with Stan Hooper thread
treble replied to bob_barron's topic in Television & Film
The show was actually starting to get better as the Christmas episode with the old lady and her pie recipe was pretty funny, but the first few episodes weren't that good so it's not surprising that ratings weren't that strong. -
I hear wedding bells.

A couple months back I saw this show on TV about aboriginal players in the NHL, and they showed this one fight between Stan Jonathan and Pierre Bouchard from the '78 playoffs. Holee-shit, did Jonathan ever pound the shit out of Bouchard. He switched hands half-way through and by the time the linesmen came in to break it up, Bouchard was dripping blood all over them. It was awesome.

Yeah, I was going to mention that one, too. Also, anytime 2 goalies fight it out is entertaining, so I'm going to mention Felix Potvin vs. Ron Hextall from a few years ago, since I don't think that one's been singled out yet. Tie Domi vs. the fan in Philly was awesome, too.

I wish I could have seen the ending of that Flames/Capitals game tonight. 6 goals in the last 6 minutes and Jagr scoring with less than a second left to tie it up.

The Blue Jays signed Ted Lilly to a 2-year contract for $5 million ($1.9 million in 2004 and $3.1 million in 2005).
