The CFL playoffs start this Sunday, culminating with the 91st Grey Cup game November 16 in Regina. The Eastern Division semi-final between the Argonauts and Lions going at 4 PM ET in Toronto with the winner playing at Olympic Stadium in Montreal next week against the Alouettes. Also, the Western Division semi-final between the Blue Bombers and the Roughriders at 7 PM ET in Winnipeg with that winner of that game going on to play Edmonton. Predictions: In the East, it really depends on what Toronto team shows up. They can be quite good (like they were against Montreal a few weeks back) or they can be really bad (like they had been against Ottawa the game before). I think BC will beat them, though, and go on to lose to Montreal in the East final. Out West, I have a feeling that Saskatchewan will beat the Bombers but lose in the West final to Edmonton, bringing about a rematch of last year's Grey Cup game. Edmonton will probably win, continuing the recent trend of teams winning the Grey Cup the year after their city hosts the game (Montreal last year, Calgary the year before that, and BC in 2000).

I have a permanent limp now, since my left leg is slightly shorter than my right leg after I broke it about 4 years ago. The leg bothers me every once in a while, but other than that, I'm fine.

The whole show seemingly went downhill once Drunk Girl came out on WU. I liked the Pat O'Brien bit in the Spy Glass skit, as well as the last sketch, but other than that it's a thumbs down.

Maybe you can watch Kill Bill there.

Please, change it to "Cousin Itt's #1 Fan. LOL (LOL isn't part of the name)". I will pay you.

1 pair that I wear, 1 that I don't, 1 pair of winter boots that I haven't worn in close to 2 years, so they probably don't fit me anymore, and 1 pair of work boots that I haven't worn since the end of the summer when I went back to school.

Do the Os still have Hentgen under contract?

I believe it's the episode where Krusty runs for Congress/Senate (can't really remember which one) when the airlines reroute all the flights right over the Simpsons' house.

Air Canada Centre is the new arena in Toronto. SkyDome's not a bad faciltiy for wrestling, either, just judging from watching it on TV. It's BIG, so they can have a big-ass extravagant set-up. It's not that old, either, it was finished in '89, and one problem it has in finding someone to sponsor it is that the Blue Jays are the main tenant, but the building is owned by someone else, so if the Jays don't really want to call it by the new name, then they won't. Also, they might have a hard time finding anyone willing to call it by it's new name, kind of like the Igloo/Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh.

Apparently they wanted to install some new surface in Montreal for the East final, but they couldn't get all the pieces in time (they were over in Europe, I heard). For whatever reason, the Expos won't let them play on their surface, so they have to use an older, harder one than they'd like, so whichever team wins the East semi-final will have to play on the hard surface in Toronto this week (again, the Argos can't use the same surface as the Blue Jays) and again next week in Montreal, while whoever gets out of the West will get to play the West final on the real stuff out in Edmonton. It might not end up meaning anything, but you never know.

I guess someone moved this to the wrong 'General'.

Client attempts to shoot lawyer outside courthouse
treble replied to Slayer's topic in Current Events
I heard the victim is in the hospital in stable condition, so he really wasn't uninjured. The scene was pretty amazing. I can't really fault anyone for not attacking the shooter right away, though, as you're not sure whether or not he has more guns (apparently he had 2 or 3 on him) or whether or not he's finished. Oh, and this all took place outside where the Robert Blake trial is going on, but there doesn't appear to be any connection between the 2. -
No, Lucy didn't die, she just was injured really badly in the car accident (I remember having this conversation with complete strangers while in 'line' to get into Raw a few years back).
-
The closest I've ever come to meeting a celebrity was seeing the girl who played Lucy on Degrassi standing on the street in Toronto while I went by on a street car.
-
Maybe it wasn't the pilot, then, but I do remember seeing him show up at the door, say something to Lucy (apologize for nearly killing her, probably) then leaving. I guess the reunion movie doesn't count as part of the new series.
-
He was on the Pilot, wasn't he, although that may not be considered an actual episode, since it was more of a reunion movie. I haven't watched much of TNG, but Snake and Spike got married, right?

Cool, I used to live there. I actually found this old newspaper a few years back with an article on Stojko in it. As for where I live now, there were a few NHL players who are from Brockville. Todd Gill wasn't born there, but he lives in town now and you can see him around every once in a while during the off season. Alyn McCauley is sometimes listed as being from Brockville, too, but he's from Gananoque, which is about a half hour down the road to the east. As for other sports, the highest Canadian ever taken in a pro basketball draft, Stacey Dales-Schuman went to one of the high schools in town (not the one I went to) and I think she was friends with my cousins. I remember my aunt going nuts when they did a news story on her when she went to the final four with Oklahoma a few years ago. And since Brockville sucks, the goalie for Belarus when they upset Sweden in the Olympics and went to the Bronze Medal game played for the local Jr. A team for a few years. Larry Robinson also played for them a LONG time ago. Where I go to school, the main three I can think of are Roger Nielson, Bob Gainey and Steve Larmer. A bunch of NHLers played for the Petes, too, like Steve Yzerman and Eric Staal.

I've changed my mind and decided that this is now the best site ever.

SensSuck.com So true, so very true.

Yeah, he's a momma's boy. He still lives with her in Montreal, so he's probably going to at least listen to her opinion when picking a new place to play/live in.
-
Wilton, and, unless he played there this year, he never played in New York (a few stints in Montreal, and stays in LA and Cincy). If I were running things, I'd try and sign Vlad to a 1 year deal around what he made in 2003. The sale value of the team is higher with a bonafide superstar, as it's easier to sell a team to a new market with a name that everyone (or, most casual sports fans, at least) knows as opposed to a bunch of low priced no-names.
-
Just let me grasp to the faint hope that he'll stay in Montreal, please. This is about the only piece of information that supports the fact that he'd stay with the Expos, so I'm clinging to it.
-
Hopefully this is still the plan for the Marlins' new park, since it looks pretty damn cool.
-
Vlad likes being able to go around pretty much un-noticed, which is why he likes it in Montreal (where he is VERY popular, despite the Expos poor attendance). I doubt very much he'd be able to do that in Boston.
