    NHL 2006 Playoffs thread...

Are the refs really as bad in the Oilers/Wings game as the Edmonton radio guys are making them out to be?

    "Revolution" officially named

You know, I was pretty interested in picking up a Revolution, but I can't see myself buying something called 'Wii'.

TWIB #4: now to the end of the month

Jays get a nice win tonight. Hopefully this is the start of them getting on a roll, since pretty much everyone in the order is hitting well, aside from Hill and Adams (and Hillenbrand a bit, but he seems to be heating up the last few days). The pitching should hold up even without Burnett, Towers is the only one who hasn't had at least one nice start yet and hopefully he gets it going soon, since he was the most consistent starter last season.

TWIB #4: now to the end of the month

Well, sounded like he had a good game today with a homer and a double that went to the wall. I haven't dropped him from any of my teams yet, so he's been riding the pine most days, but maybe I'll be able to play him with some confidence soon.

TWIB #4: now to the end of the month

Beautiful. Everything I've heard, though, says that the elbow is fine stucturaly, and that there's not too much danger of re-injuring the elbow, there'll just be some discomfort. So, I'm just going to bury my head in the sand, go by what Dr. Andrews said, and remind myself that the Star pretty much hates every team in Toronto.

Is Dan Johnson going to start hitting soon? My fantasy teams would like that.

TWIB #4: now to the end of the month

Apparently, no structural damage in AJ Burnett's elbow, so it's probably just the scar tissue again.

    I Just Noticed

Exhibit A on why I should never post when I get home in the morning after a night shift.

That's me. Well, the 'no life' part, at least.

    I Just Noticed

I remember in grade 3, there were 3 Adams in the class. It was pretty confusing, having to put the first letter of their last name after the Adam. I always got Adam L. and Adam N. mixed up. True story, I now work with Adam N., but he's the only Adam there, so he's just Adam, no N. Adam, that's a weird name.

    He commutes to work 7 hours a day...and back...daily

If not for gas prices and whatnot, I'd probably like to have a semi-long commute. Where I used to work, it was about a 2 minute walk, cutting through parking lots and stuff. Now, it probably takes about 5 to 10 minutes depending on traffic, lights, and whether or not I hit a train. I'd just like some time to listen to the radio, or whatever, like half an hour or so, nothing too long.

    TWiB: Week of April 16-22

Should be a fun game tonight in Toronto, Burnett vs. Beckett. I'll be missing it because of work, making it almost a week since I've been able to watch a Jays game.

Pat Quinn fired as Leafs coach

I remember when they hired Paul Maurice to coach the Marlies, everyone was saying he was going to be the next Leafs coach. I'm kinda surprised he was fired, though, I figured he'd saved his job with the late season push, and, that if he was gone, he'd 'resign'. Ferguson has another year, if they miss the playoffs again, he's gone, too. I think I have a bit more faith in him than others do, since his hands were a bit tied this year with the salary cap so he did what he could do. I didn't expect much out of this season to begin with, so signings like Lindros and Allison was just throwing stuff at the wall to see what would stick.

Damn, Sportsnet pussied out. They were supposed to have Sean Avery on their studio panel during the playoffs, but there were compaints and they dropped him.

I don't really feel like talking about the Leafs anymore than anyone else wants to hear about them. But they lost in Buffalo because they always lose in Buffalo.

The Stanley Cup champions reside in San Jose.

Well, it won't be the Leafs.

Oh well. I had resigned myself to them missing it after Montreal a few weeks back, but this still sucks. It'll be especially frustrating if they end up tied in points with Tampa, knowing that one goal in a shootout somewhere might have been the difference.

I never thought I'd care so much about a Tampa/Carolina game.

Does not compute. Yeah, I know but that was last year. Good times. The best was making that the background on my dad's computer and him not knowing how to change it.

I think my earlier comment (either in this thread or the March one) about how the Leafs shitty play in Montreal would bug me all summer is going to ring true. Eeking out a win over Florida, depsite outshooting them something like 50-20, Sundin with 4 goals and 2 assists. He can be so awesome sometimes.

In '99 (I think) they were the #2 seed and got swept by Buffalo. I guess you can chalk that up to playoff inexperience, but they did beat the #1 seed Devils in the first round the year before. And didn't Redden cough up the puck on Friesen's goal? I remember some people making a scapegoat out of him when it happened.

That's the definition of a choke, buddy. They couldn't close the show. They came from being down 3-1 to make a game 7 and lost on a late fluke goal. That's not choking.

I don't think Ottawa's known for choking as much as they're known for losing to the Leafs.
