    OAO Raw Thread - August/28th/2006.

Regardless of talent, it's a great thing. The sad thing about Chris Masters is that he was only brought up in the first place because of his look. Had it not been because of that he never would have been brought up when he was. Now the wellness deal is in effect, and we have him like he is now. Great for his health, but not so much for his career. I actually hope they give him a shot instead of just dumping him. So is the plan to actually put Cena on SD (they'll need something major for the move to CW) and then have Edge/HHH feud over the title on RAW?

Chris Masters looks great, a lot better now. He'll be able to get around the ring a little better more than likely, wont be as injury prone, and will be healthier. I'm all for it. I'm shocked that JR mentioned that he was smaller though.

    Kurt Angle released!

From PWInsider: quote]HE ASSOCIATED PRESS PICKS UP KURT ANGLE STORY by Mike Johnson @ 5:09:00 PM on 8/28/2006 The Associated Press picked up the story of Kurt Angle's departure from World Wrestling Entertainment late this afternoon, so expect it to get a lot of play nationally in newspapers across the United States over the next several days. This is likely the first time the departure of a WWE performer has made the national newswires, although it happened because of Angle's legitimate athletic background and Olympics accomplishment, as his entire wrestling career is framed as likely being over, not because of his status as a WWE contracted performer coming to an end. The article notes that Angle was leaving "entertainment wrestling" yet wasn't (at this time) citing the departure as the official retirement for his legendary grappling career. Chronicling the injuries Angle suffered during his final professional wrestling match at the White Plains, New York ECW event several weeks back, the article noted that Angle opted to leave the company after deciding he didn't want to continue to take "pain medication" in order to compete. The story does not attempt to delve deeper into Angle's current personal and professional issues beyond that lone mention of pain medication and does not mention his previous suspension from WWE. It also does not note that the decision to end the professional relationship at this time was a call made by WWE, not Angle. The AP article is written in a way that was designed to bookend Angle's legitimate athletic career. Kurt Angle released!

If he refuses to do what WWE wants of him, and they refuse to take him back, you'll see Kurt Angle wrestle somewhere in 90 days. If he can't wrestle in WWE, he'll wrestle somewhere else.

    Kurt Angle released!

Yeah, he talked about it in his book, and it's legal, but it does go to say a lot about his nature, and how this is "him", it's nothing really new. What we're seeing is a guy who is getting older while being forced to deal with a number of injuries, and he's trying to do all he can to stay in the game just a little while longer. He doesn't want to let go, it's not in his nature to just let go and quit. As he grows older, and as the injuries pile up on him, he's getting more and more desperate to find a way to stay in the game, and unless forced out he's never going to slow down. Not for good, and not even just to rest up.

    Kurt Angle released!

PWInsider said that when he was going for the gold in the Olympics, he had a doctor with him at all times to be able to shoot him up with some sort of painkiller before every match just so he could make it through without letting the pain get to him. This has been his nature for years, it's nothing new. It's just getting worse and worse as the years go by. Let's not forget that this is the same guy who talked about going for Olympic gold once again in his book. I have no reason to believe that this will be a good thing for Kurt Angle. It was good that WWE did it though, and it's all that they can do right now. He was told to get help, and he refused, so we know where he stands on all of this. I'll actually be shocked if I don't see him pop up somewhere else now that WWE let him go. It's who he is to find somewhere to go to keep doing what he only seemingly wants to do, wrestle.

    Kurt Angle released!

From PWInsider: -WWE purposely did this on Friday afternoon since that's a well known time that the media will be slower on, with the thinking that by Monday morning it will be under lots of other headlines. -Kurt Angle and his lawyer/agent had a meeting with WWE Friday afternoon. WWE told Kurt Angle the requirements for him if he wanted to stay with them, he refused what they wanted from him, and they fired him. -WWE did not want to do this, but felt they had no choice at all. The thinking is that the only way they could help him is to make it so that he's no longer with them, since he refused what they wanted from him. -With the way WWE has handled this should tell us all just how much in trouble Kurt Angle is in right now. This isn't something they would do if it wasn't as dire as possible. -As we all know, Kurt's attitude was that if he's going to be in ECW, then ECW should be built around him instead of him being there to only help ECW build up it's name. He hated the fact that TBS was being pushed so hard, when he was almost just there. -There are some inside of TNA who are already talking about being excited about a possible Angle/Joe match.

    Kurt Angle released!

Hell, forget about using pictures that far apart. You can take pictures of Kurt Angle that are about 3-6 months apart and see just as big of a difference. I posed pictures like that months ago, earlier this year, and it was just amazing.

    Kurt Angle released!

It's all a work to make his DVD that much more interesting when they finally do release it. This is just the big emotional twist for the last half of the main feature.
  12. I find the entire Sylvan issue right now quite funny. It's as if someone woke up, and realized that they were giving him TV time and video packages, and instantly decided that it was a stupid idea in the first place, and now are jobbing him out. To Vito of all people.
  13. I guess this is some sort of improvement for Asians in WWE. So he wont be brought in as an evil martial arts guy, but instead they go to the complete opposite end of the sterotype spectrum and make him a redneck cowboy.
  14. Oh. My. God. Jimmy Wang Yang? An Asian redneck cowboy? Not to mention they'll more than likely make him gay.
  15. Still to come in this Eddie storyline: -Chavo and Vickie will start a romantic relationship, making out with her on TV. -We will see videos of Chavo with Vickie and the children, as he takes them on as his own family. -Vickie will be all for it, because she "sees a lot of Eddie in Chavo", and eventually starts to look at Chavo as Eddie himself. Perhaps even calling Chavo Eddie. -Chavo will come out to Eddie's music, even in the lowrider. -This will all take place while Rey is gone having his knee surgery. -When he returns, the angle will be going full force. Vickie will be with Chavo, the children will be involved, he'll be in Eddie's gimmick in every way from entrance to move set, etc... -This will all lead to Rey/Chavo going at it once again, with Rey's goal to be to "knock some sense into Chavo", to let him know that he's not really Eddie, and Eddie's family is not his. Perhaps with a match at WM. -To end, Rey will berate Vickie in the middle of the ring, screaming to her that Chavo is not Eddie, and that Eddie is really dead, and he'll never come back.
  16. All of you guys have your "list of stupid horrible shit WWE has done" handy? I think we can finally mark through "turn a real life widow of a former WWE worker heel".

    Kurt Angle released!

I know a lot of you are trying to look on the bright side, and hopefully it's true that this will be the kick in the pants that Kurt Angle requires, but I honest to God don't see this helping him at all. I'm not saying WWE didn't do the right thing, I'm just saying I don't think it'll get through to him, not right now. Sadly, I think that he has a ways to go, and will get much deeper into things, before we really see him where he eventually needs to be in order to save his career, and his life.

Isn't this sorta what happened to Eddie? He had all kinds of problems, and it let to him being fired?

    Kurt Angle released!

Yeah, blah blah blah, I didn't expect to see this news, etc... I think they asked him to totally get help, both in some sort of rehab as well as mental help. From there I see him going crazy losing his temper and flat out refusing, claiming that he was ok and that he just wants on TV once again to prove to them that he's up to the work in the ring. Once he refused, they fired him on the spot. From here, it wouldn't shock me at all to see him go straight to TNA (whenever he's able legally I mean), just because he wants to wrestle right NOW, instead of going into any sort of rehab. He wants to continue building his "legend", and I think he'd be willing to go to TNA to continue doing just that. He might look at it like he wont be working as much, as others have stated here, and that would just be another push for him to do so. Above all else, his going to TNA would only be to prove WWE wrong, and to finally end up going back down the line after he has proven himself. The guy has been building to this for a few years now, and I'm sure that it all just finally reached a boiling point and before he ends up killing himself, WWE wanted to give him an ultimatum of either getting help, multiple kinds of help, or else they would cut ties. Kurt will look at this as a chance to go to TNA to finally prove to WWE that he is fine, that he can still work like he always has in the past, and TNA wont question anything since he's a huge name and they'll just welcome him with open arms, while they bite their tongue and decide to believe him when he says that he's ok and nothing is wrong with him.
  22. I'm all for a normal DDT being a finisher again, just like I'm all for the Rude Awakening being a finisher again. The guy doing it just needs to know how to make it look good, as does the guy taking the moves. Seeing Jake or Arn giving someone the DDT is just awesome, and it could be again.
  23. There's no use in my trying to counter them. If those are his opinions, and only his opinions, then nothing I say would change his mind anyway. I was just saying that if I ever found that much to hate about 45 minutes of TV, wrestling or not, and I also said that it was one of the better episodes of whatever it was, then I highly doubt I'd continue to watch, that's all. I'm glad other people are at least saying good things about Mike Knoxx in terms of how he takes a DDT. From the moment I saw that I instantly thought of RVD. It's one of my favorite ways to take any sort of move. It looks really solid, like the move actually matters.
