The best part of that segment is that it didn't even have a fucking payoff.
-
Yes, exactly. "WE WANT WRESTLING"
-
I'm thinking that Vince thought back to what got the highest rating number in RAW history...and that's why we're watching what we're watching right now. Expect an assload more of this sort of stuff in the coming weeks, no matter if it helps ratings or not.
-
After Cryme Tyme last week, this week on the "this is taking too fucking long" segment of RAW this week, Ken Kennedy!
-
I know you're trying to refute that in the next sentence, but don't deny you said that, or at least admit you were overstating things a bit much. I'll admit that I might not have explained just what I was trying to say the best way possible, but I tried to make it clear with the last part of that sentence, and everything else I said from that point on. Surely most of you can agree that the Bourne trilogy is not only of high quality, but also very, very consistent in that quality.
-
My God, I'm sorry that some of you find it so hard to understand what I'm saying. I didn't, not once, say that the Bourne series is the best trilogy of all time. The only thing that even comes close to that from what I said is when I said it's possible it's the best trilogy, because of the consistent quality. Am I wrong in saying that the Bourne series is one of the most consistent trilogies of all time? I even said: I'm not comparing Borne to the fucking Godfather series, not like you think. I'm simply saying that it's a consistent series, that's all. The Godfather series may be better as a whole, but not even that series is consistent, just like the Star Wars series isn't consistent. I'm not talking about overall quality of the films, not comparing series to series. I'm talking about taking each series on it's on, and looking at the consistency between each film in the series.
-
From PWInsider: So, let's see how they fuck it up tonight!
-
Care to mention other trilogies that were around the same high quality for the entire series? Most people even admit that Return of the Jedi was a major step back in terms of quality for that series. Obviously there's the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and it needs mentioned and most would more than likely pick that one, but personally I enjoyed the Bourne films more than the LotR films. While, in my opinion, The Godfather 1 & 2 are way better than any of the Bourne films, it's universally accepted that part 3, while still a great film, took a dive in terms of quality that The Godfather series was known for. Most trilogies aren't as even as the Bourne series, they just aren't. Anyway, it was a nice surprise for me to see Paddy Considine in The Bourne Ultimatum. I see in him what I saw in Clive Owen before he really broke out. EDIT: Forgot all about Sergio Leone's "Dollars" trilogy, so that's way up there as well. Also there is Krzysztof Kieslowski's Three Colors trilogy, which also deserves a mention.
-
When 2007 started, I didn't think I'd end up saying what I'm about to say, but here it goes. I'd say that The Bourne Ultimatum is the best "part 3" this year, far and away without question. It totally destroys Shrek 3, PotC 3, and Spidey 3. Heck, as of right now it's quite possibly the best trilogy of all time, since all three films have been around the same quality. One isn't so better or worse than the other two that it's all that noticeable. It's a great consistent series, and you almost never get that. So even if it isn't technically the best trilogy ever, it's certainly arguably the most consistent in terms of overall quality.

Yep, I just heard this on FOX News. Yes, TNA, Total Nonstop Action, was just mentioned on FOX News.

After Evan Almighty doing so poorly, I wonder if they'll make an "Almighty" film with Ed Helms next. I loved Bruce Almighty, but I thought the trailer for EA looked pretty poor. It looks more like something I'd catch on TV, enjoy it for what it is, but not something I'd want to go and pay $6 or so to watch on the big screen. I think my opinion of the film would be way more positive if I watch it on free TV instead of paying for it. I hate the part of the trailer where Steve Carell yells "SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEP".

William Regal is a very odd character in WWE. He's the type of guy where you can equally expect him to win or lose at any given moment, no matter his opponent. One week it wouldn't shock me to see them have him pin someone major, maybe even John Cena if the storyline was right, but it also wouldn't shock me to see him job to someone like Hacksaw, or even maybe a midget or a diva just so they can have him display his awesome facial expressions and everything. Not to mention that it's also believable for them to put him in a power role, GM or something else, at any given moment as well. Doing a job to Hacksaw wouldn't hurt him on RAW, much less on Heat.

Well considering that Spider-Man 3 is a piece of shit, of course TBU is better than it. Every movie you mentioned (other than FF, since I haven't seen it yet), is better than SM3. Now with that said, yes, TBU kicked ass, and it's also my favorite of the Bourne films, and one of the overall best films of the entire year. I still hate the shaky-cam trend, but I was able to overlook it for this flick, and at times I actually enjoyed how it was used in TBU. There's a lot of great moments, great action and chase scenes, with a great ending. I highly recommend TBU. Since SM3, I've enjoyed all of the Summer flicks that I've seen, unless I'm just forgetting about a big piece of shit that I blocked out of my memory. EDIT: I just pulled out my ticket stubs for this year, and since SM3 I saw Hostel 3, so yeah, I guess I did forget about a big piece of shit that I had blocked out of my memory.

Yeah, I saw that also. I think they booed because they thought it was a spoiler or something. Another "complaint" I thought of for The Simpsons Movie is that I wish that the Albert Brooks character
-
That's the only complaint I have with the movie. I have no clue why they did it that way.

While certainly not a huge shock, considering his age, another master of cinema has passed away. It's a little weird that both Ingmar Bergman and Michelangelo Antonioni would both die on the very same day, but there you have it. My favorite Antonioni film is quite possibly The Passenger with Jack Nicholson. Not only is it beautifully shot, but it's just a great film from start to finish. It has one of my favorite quotes of all time, and the last seven minutes or so are fantastic: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,291493,00.html

From PWInsider:
-
The fans booed both John Cena and Bobby Lashley for the majority of their match at the GAB. It seemed to be a battle of who the fans could boo the most. It picked up at the end for Cena, but they were certainly booing him throughout the match, just as they were doing to Lashley. The fans didn't seem to care about the match at all, and didn't really want either guy to win in the end.

I can't wait to see what HHH's return does for the RAW rating.
-
From PWInsider: Since we've already had the 2.5 rating confirmed (although it wouldn't shock me if this was just a huge glitch, and it's really supposed to be 3.5 instead), I post this only because of the part in bold. Holy shit, sometimes I forget just how stacked those Nitro shows used to be at times!

What did Russo even do when he returned to WWE that last time? I know he was only there long enough for a cup of coffee, but did he do anything at all really? And I agree with you Chriswok. Once upon a time, Vince Russo did work out in WWE with Vince McMahon acting as something of a filter, and TNA would be far better off without Russo. Heck, maybe if Russo left TNA Cornette could get more power, or maybe they'd actually be willing to bring in Paul Heyman...and maybe Heyman would be more willing to actually go there as well.
-
You know, with the ratings falling like we've seen this week, it's looking more and more likely that we'll some of the changes mentioned in this thread.
-
I changed the thread title, and totally forgot to post in the actual thread. So, sorry about that. PWInsider has reported that yes, what he told his websites was totally in every way nothing more than a cover story for what really happen, in order to save face among his hardcore fans. That was expected, so it shouldn't be a huge shock, and I'm sure it's not a shock to any of you. Anyway, they went on to say that yes, he has indeed been suspended and we will not see him for 30 days, and he'll obviously miss SummerSlam. Jeff Hardy was not sent home from RAW either. This actually went down last week sometime, so he didn't have a reason to show up at RAW since he was already suspended. They didn't give a reason for the suspension, but yeah, like has already been mentioned they also said that we could pretty much guess the reason for all of this. WWE is doing this to set the stage for the rest of the boys, to let them know that things are going to start changing, if only a little bit, and certain things that have been allowed, or at least looked over, will no longer be allowed or looked over. It all makes sense right now with Congress breathing down their neck. Jeff Hardy has not been released, and at this time he isn't going to be released. Again, it's just the typical 30 day suspension, and he'll return as soon as he's allowed. They've had big plans for Jeff Hardy, and have been wanting to push him as a major singles star, and this sort of thing is the reason that they keep holding off on it. Right when they are just about to finally push him big, he does whatever he did here, and his big push is once again put on hold.

The Next Gen Hart Foundation debut on OVW TV [JULY 28, 2007]
Downhome replied to Oldschool's topic in The WWE Folder
I still say that Teddy reminds me far too much of Kwee-Wee:
