Given the state of our country and the world in this day and age, I wonder how long it will be before we have an election where we have an obvious clear cut winner once again.

If Bush wins, it isn't Kerry who loses...it's the people with juvenile diabetes, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and other debilitating diseases and those who can not walk and are stuck in wheelchairs who lose! They were counting on Kerry to win and then wonder around the country laying his hands on them as president.

    GTA: San Andreas

None of the missions have been as hard as many have complained about. The dancing mission and that race were two of the easiest missions in the history of the next-gen GTA series, and everything else has been pretty easy so far as well. I haven't found a single mission that just left me stuck yet. I've had to try a few of them a few times, but after two or three tries I've completed them all pretty quickly. I'm still at the very start of the second city, but I totally stopped doing missions for now in order just to goof off and to start on some of the mini-games and mini-mission things.

    GTA: San Andreas

I love them all. I listen to this station more than any of the others when I'm driving around, but that's just me. My favorite is "I Love A Rainy Night". Right up there with the country station is the rock station though. I'll listen to the others depending on what I'm doing in the game.

    Recommend some Xbox games

It's for PS2 also, but if you only have an Xbox then be sure to pick up Beyond Good & Evil. It was my second favorite game of last year.
  16. "It's coming...wait for it...I promise...get ready...any second now...here is the cue...and...BOO!" If you want to experience this film you only need to do two things. First watch the trailer, then read the above sentence. Did ya do that? You did? Well, congrats, that's all this movie is. One big long ass cheap scare, a scare that you almost always expect, and always know when it's coming. I couldn't even get caught up in it, because I was always ready for whatever was about to happen. Don't get me wrong, and if you know me you know that I love horror films, but this isn't the "good" kind of scares. Everything in this film is expected. You know exactly what is going to happen, before it even happens, and the film itself doesn't even think about playing games with you. Before everything that could even remotely freak you out, you KNOW you are about to see a weird face, something flash by, or whatever other cliche they can come up with. You see, before every scare in this film, there is a lead into it using screeching violins. Very, very loud screeching violins, or some sort of cliche music. It builds, and builds, and right when it climaxes you know that someone is about to jump out of the shadows and go "BOO!". I do not like that. I am a sucker for cheap scares like that at times, many films do it right. But when it's done right, the scares like that come out of nowhere. They'll build up to it, then not actually have anything happen. Then when all seems cool, when all seems normal once again, then wham, you get scared, that's when it works. It does nothing for me when you have the director there holding your hand basically going "it'll be ok, don't worry, sure it'll be freaky but I'm right here to let you know exactly when the bad thing will come". That's what I came away from this film thinking overall, just horribly cheap scares. Then you have the trailer, which pretty much showcases most of the scares in the film. I'm not really joking about that either. Just about everything that it meant to freak you out in the film is in the trailer. The acting was stiff, I didn't care about any of the characters because they didn't actually take time to tell the story of anyone involved, which only leads you down the path of not giving a shit when someone gets knocked off. It's just, ok, that dude just got killed, gotcha. Not that I care about this aspect though, but there is pretty much no actual gore showcased either. It leaves almost everything like that up to you and your imagination. That's fine in some films, but here they don't really give you much to work with to even get your own imagination going, so in the end that's all in vain also. They also pretty much don't explain anything at all about the plot until right near the end. You see weird things going on, but it means next to nothing simply because you have no foundation or roots on which to build anything in your mind which could even explain anything. It starts up and weird things happen. A little while later something weird happens again, you get the big boo, weird stuff again, and then another boo or two. I may be in the minority, but without any hint of what is going on, without anything at all, all of this weird stuff is just that...just weird shit that you see taking place. It means nothing to you at all, therefore I couldn't care about any of it. Also, and I'm sure that anyone who sees it can say the same thing, it feels like there was a TON of scenes that were left on the cutting room floor. I wont get into specifics, but there had to have been minutes on top of minutes of film which were deleted, there had to have been. All of that said, yes there are some creepy scenes. Yes it would be a good flick to take a gal out to see just to see her act all crazy and scared, and yes it "looks" good visually. But if you are going because you want to see a good, well made, horror film then you are out of luck. The plot even leaves a lot to be desired even after it's explained, and the entire ending sequence is just one huge cliche that almost made me want to puke. This film has no heart, no desire, and no true ability to present any sort of horror. It felt like a horror film for beginners more than anything else, and that is just sad. Sincerely, ...Downhome... BOO!

    GTA: San Andreas

I just did the race. Is there more than one, or is what I did the thing that everyone is having trouble with? I don't know if it was the car I was driving, luck, or what, but I not only beat it on my first try, but also the other drivers didn't have a chance. It was almost as if they just didn't even try or press on the gas. Could it have been a glitch?

    SAW/Ray

Not only will he be nominated, but he'll more than likely WIN. To shine a bit of light on all of this In Loving Color talk, think of it like this. Not only will one ILC cast member be nominated for best actor, but more than likely we'll see two...the other being Jim Carey for ESotSM.

    WWE Raw V.S. Smackdown!

I hate some of the changes, very much, but I'll be buying it for one reason and one reason alone. It's the only reason I really buy wrestling games anyway, it's just about the only thing I base my buying a wrestling game on. The gameplay. In the IGN review it states that the gameplay actually improved, and that is one hell of a good thing. Add to that the fact that Bret Hart is in this game, and buying it becomes a no-brainer to me.
  22. The first one was horrible in my opinion, with only two or three scenes and/or shots worth anything at all. But for what it's worth, here is the trailer to the sequel. EDIT: Damnit, I forgot the s in that one word in the title. Either way, discuss. http://lionsgate.arcostream.net/lionsgate/...ser_300Kbps.wmv Sincerely, ...Downhome...

I never opened it. I just went to the customer service desk and told them that I recently bought the set and then said I was wondering if they would give me a gift card for it, and they did. I've done it before, and I do not feel bad about it seeing that they are just going to put it on the shelf and eventually sell it anyway.

    SAW/Ray

I pulled double duty tonight at the theaters. I saw Ray first, then right after that I saw a special showing of Ghostbusters at another theater down the street. It was awesome seeing Ghostbusters on the big screen by the way, and was a flat out awesome time what with it being a packed theater. We all had a great time watching that one. But before that, was Ray. If you've read my posts in the past about this film, you know that I had high hopes for this one. Not just for the film, but also about the performance of Foxx. I must say now that I've seen it, well, it more than lived up to what I wanted. I've heard many say the last 30 minutes go by very slowly, but to me I didn't feel that. As a matter of fact, the film blew by so fast to me that I was pissed when it ended. I can't remember the last time I was left wanting more, more and more! Seeing this film was unlike any experience that I've ever had at the movies. Not only was just about everyone in the theater moving to the sounds of the fantastic music that was featured throughout the film, but at the very end of it...get this, I experienced the first EVER standing ovation after a showing of a film. It wasn't just for the film though, obviously, seeing how Ray recently passed away, so it seemed fitting to me. It was also a packed theater, with the majority of the crowd being African American. As for the film itself, it was not perfect, but it was indeed fantastic. I'll write more on the actual film later, but I do give it two thumbs up, or a score of 8.5/9.0 out of 10. If I have to say something against the film, it is that it somewhat suffers from the same thing that "Ali" suffered from. You are dealing with a man whose life just can not totally fit in a feature length film, and because of that you have jumps in time that at times do not make sense, the editing seems a bit off at time, and there is just a lot that they don't have the time to showcase. As for Jamie, I do believe this film has cemented him as a huge name now. There is no doubting what he accomplished here. What you have here is a true presentation of acting, where the actor not only is acting like a character, but instead they BECOME said character to the point where you believe they are actually who they are acting out. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a performance as much as this. Jamie Foxx...was Ray Charles, it was that perfect. This shouldn't take you surprise though, since Foxx really devoted himself to this role, and you can tell that he wanted nothing but the best from this role. My hat goes off to him. Jamie Fox, you have arrived. I do not mean to discredit the supporting cast by the way. There isn't a single person involved in this project that wasn't solid or better. Everyone involved in this film should really be proud. If you ask me, this was a very fitting film to showcase the life of Ray Charles. I'm sure they have made him proud.
