    Friday the 13th Collection

Misprice in their system, Blockbuster has a few of em from time to time. I don't know if all Blockbusters have the right price now, but all of the ones that I know of are like $79 now.

I have already paid for it in full at Blockbuster, for $26. I couldn't pass at that price, and I'd rather have this set than no set.

    Star Wars Trilogy DVD Set

It isn't the "kiddie" thing...it's his method of directing. Look at I and II, and even IV, you can tell a huge difference between those films, and V and VI. Episode III will be darker, without a doubt, but the Lucas style and marks will still be all over it, which will hurt it as a film. I don't buy the PG-13 rating either, I'll believe it when I see it.

Nope, so be prepared for more of I and II.

I dislike episode I and II mainly because of George Lucas. As far as I'm concerned he's a horrible...HORRIBLE director. He's got a very creative mind, there is no doubt about that. He just doesn't have a great director's mind. He did a nice job on American Graffiti and Star Wars: ANH, everything else has either been just ok, or flat out bad. All of the really great films, in my opinion, that has Lucas' name attached, he didn't direct. Heck, even in the Star Wars documentary in this DVD set some of the actors point out his flaws as a director, and I do not doubt he had the same issues with episode I and II. He should leave the writing of the screenplay, and the direction, to others.
  6. I saw the movie and I just loved it. Some of the dialogue is poor, the acting is a bit odd, but in my opinion all of that was obviously done on purpose. This isn't a film that is meant to be this mind-blowing all new thing. This film was a mixture of a few things. One, which is new really, was the filming of quite a bit of it in front of a green screen, we all know about that though. The film was also, and more importantly in my opinion, a throwback to the wacky classic sci-fi films from the 50's and the such. If you are familiar with films like that, then you'll really enjoy this one in my opinion. It's a lighthearted, comedic, cheesy, throwback to old SCI-flicks, and I for one adored it. I'd reccomend it to just about anyone who loves film though, especially to those who are a fan of films like this one. This movie was trying to present a certain style and feel, and it hit the nail on the head. Add that to the overall visuals, and it was just a great watch. Sincerely, ...Downhome...
  7. So....Orton vs. Flair at TT? HHH vs. Benoit?
  8. Is there ever a WRONG time for a quote from that show? Me thinks not.

    Star Wars Trilogy DVD Set

Well, I just finished watching The Return of Darth Vader, all of the featurettes and Empire of Dreams...and WOW what an experience. I could watch material on Star Wars and the making of the films all day long, it's all just so interesting. Now to finally actually watch all three films, then listen to the commentaries.

I'd also make the films that the fans fell in love with, the fans that made me stinking rich, available to them as well as the updated ones. That's the only issue.

I hate that switch for now. Depending on how/if they explain to us the concept of what form a Jedi takes after death, it could change my opinion on that. If they try to say that Anikin "dies" in Episode III, then I can buy his being added to RotJ. If they do not try to explain that, then I'll hate that change even more. Even if they say that though, you could argue that at the end of RotJ, that's when Anikin really dies seeing how he had a change of heart there, at his older age. I hate the "Greedo shoots first" change because is alters the character of Han Solo, but I can put up with it. I also hate the altered dialogue in the scene between Vader and the Emperorer. Things are said that do not need to be said, it's just a case of Lucas dumbing down the dialogue just as he's done with the first two episodes. As far as the other changes, they are fine. I may not like "Jar Jar" (or his people) being in RotJ, but I can live with that more than some nitpickers. I understand why that shot was put in there.

I have no problem with him going back to these films every year and changing things if he wants to, and I don't care what he changes, no matter how big a change or little. The point, is that when a filmmaker releases a film to the public in theaters, on video, etc... that even if he wants to change his films, he should always make available the orignal versions. Period.

Shaun of the Dead: Zombies, gore, jokes...

Much of the film will be lost on "most" of the average American filmgoer. If you want to fully appriciate it you need to have a very good mind and understanding of all of the films that Shaun is taking bits and pieces from. There are tons of winks to people who get certain things. It also helps if you are familier with Spaced, Black Books, The Office, etc...

This has made me laugh about as hard as I ever have before. Peter: Hey, I think I read about this sort of thing in a book once. Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't...nothing? Peter: Oh yeah, heh.
